Problems with SMN Resurrection Spell Usage

Can't speak for pug groups but every static I know with a SMN leaves the first rez to the SMN. It is mana intensive to be rezzing, but if you go OOM you can stand there and replenish mana with no real impact besides things dying slower. If a healer goes OOM rezzing then people die. So, unless it's a wipe why not try to help get people up? Especially if it's a healer. People aren't dying on purpose. They just don't know the fight or aren't paying attention. Express your irritation at the latter and be more patient with the former.

I do usually rise as SMN only because it just saves healers the mp-usage to keep the party alive and not care about the dead body for a while.
No one complained about it yet but after 2-4 consecutive deaths I usually don't bother anymore because it's just pointless...

And seriously, if anyone's complaining that you actually rise people in battle, just don't and see how things will turn out ;P (and I've saved a LOT of battles with it).
You have this exclusive utility as an DPS (and an Enhanced Virus/Eye for an Eye) so why not make use of it? If people complain you don't do enough damage, they might as well tell a BLM not to use Aetherial Manipulation/Manaward or tell Monks not to use Mantra. There's more to a DPS than just raw damage.

I'm so confused by those saying "rezzing is the healer's job." In most endgame raids, trials, etc., if you are the summoner in the group, it is your job. Unless you've recently been rezzed, yourself, MP should never be an issue. If it is an issue, you're doing something wrong. If your dps would suffer greatly by a couple rezzes, you're also doing something wrong. The battle-rez is the SMN utility. If you aren't contributing that to you're group, they need to replace you.

I am not sure about you guys, but usually the Scholar is the first one to res. They can stack some piety for a larger mana pool and more regen both passively and via Aetherflow all without sacrificing anything. The Summoner should, however, be second in line to res if the Scholar is having mana issues or have Swift on cooldown.

I'm not saying that res is primarily a healers job but at the same time as a DPS(SMN) res is not my priority. Though my DPS does not suffer because I do know how to compensate. But, if I have to continuously raise you and then you just die continuously from standing in colorful circles of death then I'll leave you there. I tend to find myself having to raise DPS more than I have to raise healers and tanks. Normally, in any party that I play in res is given to priority to the healer first in 8-man content. In the event that the healer needs to heal the part first then I would res which is not a problem. But, if you want to replace me because I refuse to continuously res you after you continuously die then so be it. As others before me have stated, SMN does not get many mp to begin with. After 3 res our mp is trashed even in long fights where there is no rest phase or break phase where the boss leaves the field for whatever reason.

x1 res = I'm on it because it was obviously an honest mistake for whatever reason lol
x2 res = Okay, please try to lay low and avoid aoe as best you can
x3 res = Okay, so now I'll just leave your body there to rot

If I was raiding (or doing serious content) with a SMN who wouldn't rez, that SMN wouldn't be in the group for long.

Rez order for every (serious) group I've been in has always been SMN -> SCH -> WHM. SCH and WHM need their mana to heal, but SMN can get away with just using DoTs and forgetting Ruin spam if they absolutely have to, which in a serious group they won't need to.

If a PUG SMN refused to Rez...well, kick and replace, especially in a learning group. If you can't be bothered to help the group fully, I can't be bothered to keep you around. Plenty of other DPS to be found.

As the SMN for my static group, I almost never do the raising. I let the healers do their job and the bard play mana song if necessary. Multiple deaths in coil usually means a wipe anyway, so healers wont have time to be oom. If my swiftcast is up and neither of the healers have theirs, I raise, but 9/10 my swiftcast gets used for shadowflare, allowing me to use an off GCD ability without reducing my damage. It depends on the people you play with. In my static there aren't a lot of deaths that wouldn't cause a raid wipe, so the healers do the raising.

As for regular dungeons, I'll raise if swiftcast is up when someone dies, but I don't leave it specifically for raises. No one has ever complained about it.

You certainly are in T8. I run out of MP before my healers and im using Aetherflow on CD every single time.

Its nearly the same in most DPS races, T8 just happens to be the longest race.

If people are dying constantly work out a rotation for resing with your healers so one person doesn't take the whole burden. On farm content as a SCH I typically like the first Rez since MP isn't much of an issue and I notice a death quicker than the SMN but many groups tend to ask the SMN to take first Rez. If in a fight like Titan ex the same person is repeatedly dying every 30 seconds... It usually isn't worth anyone's time to Rez them sadly.

Pushing new content with a static it will be organized with the group but I don't think the OP is talking about a static...

Priority raise to SMN seems very strange to me (SCH). I am always #1. I don't have MP issues unless 3 people + my fairy all die at the same time or something. Things dying slower because the SMN dumped 800 MP is silly and weird.

Save SMN raise for when both healers have Swift down, both healers are dead, or more than 2 people are dead.
