Tam-tara is such a hard dungeon.

Eos is more then capable of healing in the low-level dungeons. I'm actually more afraid of dying because the tank can't get aggro from all the mobs than dying because there isn't enough healing there. I just don't like the AI for Eos/Selene; they start healing when the target is too low for my taste (i like full bars...), but often enough I can dps most fights while Eos is the healer.
Being a SCH just means u have a fifth party member that can heal well enough for the 4 first dungeons. After that it gets trickier, but u still can DPS more than enough. Debuffs, Bane and... make a coffee, bake a cake, test out how many fingers i can fit into one of my nostrils...

As someone who hates drama in pugs (keeps happening alot, damn kids) i have it first just so i can use it and they see it. even without cleric you can pretty much dps good and all will be good. its funny that you just stand there and eos will heal.

On the other hand, i have seen really bad runs happenings due to scholars not positioning eos correctly. it can happen.

I spend low level dungeons DPS'ing my face off. Why not? Eos is there to heal and the occasional spot heal is all that's needed. It's like having 5 people in your four man party. I've played around with several of the xclass skills at low levels (Protect, Stone Skin, Cleric Stance) and honestly I get the most mileage out of Cleric Stance.

Scholar is just really easy to DPS on, honestly. Hell, I spend story roulette dungeons DPS'ing my face off and abusing Lustrate. I get plenty of commendations and nobody's asked me not to do it yet. Seriously, if nobody dies, I don't see how anyone can complain. When people act the way that BRD did, I come to the conclusion that they're bad and they know it, so they don't think they can finish it without the buffs. :P

You could most likely report them for abusing the vote kick system, as a previous poster stated.

Cross classing to suit insecurity in a low level dungeon isn't "not doing your job". They clearly can keep you healed and dps to make the dungeon faster. What you are referring to is a bad healer, not the OP. I do this all the time. I choose cleric for dps when only 1 cross class is effective, and swift when 2 is. Because by then you have access to resurrection and it is more vital to quick cast rez IF something does hit the fan. But it never does, because it is a low level dungeon. You are absolutely right; I've done the same thing and it's hilarious how strong Eos is there as a healer, and how fast the dungeon goes with you as SCH dps.

To avoid idiots like you encountered though, here's what I do:

Set Cleric Stance, Protect, Aero, whatever, whatever. (in that order)

Make sure Eos is out before you queue.

Queue roulette, see what pops.

Capped lvl 15-19 pop Cleric Stance then switch it to protect. This will lock you into cleric stance but you'll still have it up. Kindly explain to the party that you need a sec due to reordering crossclass but they're free to pull first few mobs. If they pull, cast protect when able. Soon as you get protect up, reset the skill to aero between pulls. Enjoy your 15-20 minute dungeon.

lvl 20+ basically same deal except keep protect available.

Protect lasts 30 minutes. You only have to cast it once the entire dungeon, then you can switch to Cleric Stance for the rest. I don't see the problem here.

Also, if it was a Bard complaining, why didn't he just cast Protect? It is just as good as the Scholar version after all.

Because protect is useless in lower dungeons and switching like that resets cooldowns. What you call lazy, I call efficient.

I have to try this. I didn't know cleric stance will remain up, and crossing aero in the end is a great idea :)

sometimes on low-lvl stuff i go as whm and don't even cast protect cos im lazy.

I think people are just used to a certain way of playing and are annoyed when "outside the box" players try to change it up a bit. In FFXI I went to merit PTs as Dancer to heal and several people actually left the party cuz I wasn't a traditional healer. Yet at the end of the day, Dancer provided more damage to the party than a mage would all while keeping everyone alive and hasted.

Point is, hats off to you for looking for more effective/fun ways to change up the monotony of dungeon grinding. (Although I do think you should've cast protect and then swapped abilities back to cleric stance)
