This is getting old fast

A quick Lodestone search shows Famfrit at 28,554 characters which is about the norm for most servers. There's only a handful over 30k chars. There's at least 8000 Miqo'te on your server if you're curious. :) Your Data Center (Primal) has 12 Worlds on it which is second only to Aether with 13. Your Data Center also includes Excalibur. This is a Legacy server with a fairly high population. If you assume with the high pop servers your Data Center averages 30k chars per server, that's 360,000 characters. If you assume every account is using their full 8 characters (this isn't true obviously but a worst case scenario offset by the fact some people have alt accounts), that's still just short of 50,000 players or a little over 4k per players per server. That easily amounts to over 2k people online during prime times just on your server alone. A merge would be crazy especially considering many servers over 30k players are locked to char creation.

Im on famfrit too, waited 45-110 mins for titan runs which is all I did this morning with no success.

I've never had to wait more than an hour for a queue (Knock on wood) but at the same time being either a tank or healer is too much of a hassle.

They mess up they get flamed, another party member dies from their own mistake and they'll be flamed, usually by a dps player too. If a few got off their high horse and eased up on the pressure it would probably be better.

The current static party make-up is also an issue. What would've been WAY better, would be to have 6-man parties, 1 tank, 1 heal, 2 dps guaranteed, and then the other two slots completely open to any class type.

That would make balance Hell. You could have 2 tanks 2 heals 2 DPS or 1 heal 1 tank 4 DPS. Those makeups will have a difference of several hundred DPS when you consider tank and heal classes in full DPS mode normally still barely reach or top 200-220 DPS and a full DPS class can go well over 300. Encounters would be faceroll easy with 4 DPS so that you can clear them with 2 DPS. FFXI balanced this by the fact that more DPS meant more TP feed which meant more damage being taken. Though that also encouraged people to only bring the most efficient and damaging DPS classes.

Yeah, because what I'm suggesting is, you know, completely different to the concept of pre-formed parties today....where many places can be solo tanked and solo healed, with 6 dps, or whatever (eg. all primals but Ifrit Ex, Turn 2, Turn 5 (but with 2 healers))


The point being, pre-formed parties already allows for mixed make-ups making "balance Hell". The DF queue times are terrible, and we're resisting doing anything about it because of "balance Hell"?

Thats not really dps exclusive (also, it's DD not dps for gods sake^^).

My Q times on Moogle are roughly as follows:

Tank:
0-1 min for nearly everything 4 man (low level sometimes takes a few minutes)
10-45 minutes for Crystal Tower
0-10 minutes specific Trials and Main Story stuff.

With CT it seems to be more of a general problem of not enough ppl joining the Q.

Also I don't think I've ever waited longer than 20 minutes as DD ever. That being said I'm fluent in german english and my french is okay, so I'm always q'ing for all languages.

It's not FF specific though, every MMo has that issue. If you want to DD mainly, you gotta live with the fact that most people want to.

Most of the time those mixed parties require a tank and/or healer that is what you would consider somewhat overgeared for the dungeon thus the balance is still there. You wouldn't want to be DFed into a Titan EX with the only tank and heal at minimum ilevel for the Trial even though that combination is perfectly viable with a solidly geared tank and healer. You would be screwed. Your scenario would make this a potential reality and thus the devs would have to balance the encounter with this possibility in mind or else tweak the DF to ensure a compatible job combination.
