1.17 > 1.18 = 3+ months. 1.18 > 1.19 = ???

Its only been half an year since the team changed and and has yet to be an year since the game released. Not to mention the player polls they did to get an idea on how/what should be changed happened in January. I don't want it to seem like im making excuses for SE since im not trying to, as someone who spent $2000+ upgrading 2 PCs for this game, im pretty pissed at the state they released this game in but at the same time, im also not stupid enough to think the entire thing can be fixed in a day. For now personally i'll continue to play till the end of September that yoshi promised to get things fixed by. Based on the state of the game at that point, i'll decided if u should continue playing or look at a different game.

While i don't like waiting anymore then the next person, i do understand that its not a simple matter of creating content but rather the entire core system needs to be changed before creating content. Once the foundation is done, we should be seeing updates and content faster since they simple have to build on top of the foundation, no need to redo the entire foundation every time they create a patch.



Can't really compare their speed unless we have another MMO that failed so bad at launch, had the dev team replaced and was required to remake the game from the core without taking it offline.

This is the #1 thing people don't seem to get. Other games have started their patch development and had them planned long ahead of time which gives players the impression that it doesn't take that much time to implement. FFXIV didn't have this luxury and started in Jan. If the launch of FFXIV was successful, it would be in line of these other MMOs rather than "rebooting", as they say.

Now, if you actually look at this fact and look at the time it took to apply all these features. It's actually a little bit above average in speed. I think the team is doing just fine and people should expect a realistic time of release for 1.19 based on how these developmental changes came about. Between 2-3 months. At this point, the game has been free enough months to compensate a CE addition. I don't think players have the place to complain so intensely at this point. That stopped when your money was indirectly given back to you. :P

Also, a portion of the delay is due to the huge earthquake, tidal wave, and nuclear power plant issues caused thereof that Japan experienced a couple of months ago...

Trion wasn't even founded until 2006, a year after XIV went into development. It launched smoother, it's adjusting content faster, it's adding content faster, etc.

XIV fans really need to stop making excuses for this piss-poor development time.

No. The #1 thing white knights of SE don't seem to get is that any other company is way ahead of SE in this generation. Trion, the company that created Rift, wasn't even founded until the year after XIV went into development. Yet somehow, Rift managed to be a very polished product upon release. They have also added much more content than XIV has.

This whole, "SE is having to rebuild it from the ground up," excuse doesn't work. SE dug the hole, that was their own choice. That does not mean they are exempt from criticism because they massively failed.

Actually, it's not. Earlier patches, possibly, 1.18, no. Also, they were still working during the majority of that time, even though the servers were down.

1.18 had a targeted release date of mid-June and it was delayed a few weeks, then another extension until late July. If they truly can't plan ahead for the unexpected and it takes them over a month to get it fixed, there is a big problem somewhere in the pipeline.

You realize a lot of people ordered the CE, played for a day (if that) and never logged back on, right? Free servers doesn't mean money is being given back to those who choose not to play a game with no content.

Agreed. But, they did set an expectation for us for the end of summer. I'm going to estimate 2 months for 1.19.

Actually shipp, what they're saying is that this isnt piss poor development time. 7 months is an amazing time to get a game in order from the terrible state it was in.

I'd think by now I had enough of a reputation of a "fanboy" that I wouldn't be accused of trolling when I make a thread containing valid criticism.

We have downloaded the 1.15+ patches everytime a new patch goes live. We download the current additions and the previous ones. There is not 300 megs of new content.

This makes it faster for the players taking a break to set everything up (since they only have to download three patches- the november, december and june patch containing 1.15a to 1.17c).

I didin't mention them because they are worthless. Nothing came out on .dat mines either.

Shipp I say it once and I say it again.. 1.18 " At the Earliest" It wasn't a "Target" its a " If everything goes well it will be then"

I'm disliking the people that think 1.18 was SUPPOSE to be in Mid-June when if you read the wording its not.. sheese people don't read things threw sometimes........ :/

Since most people here seem to have never dealt with a disaster like this before, they only find this as an excuse and not actual reasoning.

I'm sure 1.18~ 1.19 ~1.20 are all being worked on right now as we speak 1.18 is Ready 1.19 probably near completion 1.20 probably half complete

This is all being worked on currently those patch are the " Patches will come in quicker sucession" because of the fact that 1) they have a September Deadline to meet all those goals and 2) they need to get this game in tip top shape ASAP!
