Why are there so many black mages around?

I see more bards everywhere then BLM.

Because ranged-dps in this game is loleasymode compared to melee, and thus, why people prefer to play it (the path of least resistance more or less). That, coupled with the fact they make things explode, is why they are so popular.

Because in spite of their attempts to destroy the elemental effect, people will still embrace the appeal of the cool and stylish dark magic user.

We may need not rely on them anymore, but it hardly makes a difference if we still have them is just about every party.

Since this is probably one of my last posts I just wanted to tell you that I really like you. And you draw really good.

It's my favorite dps job to play, followed by MNK. I started out with BLM and I've always stuck with it as my main because of my static, it's always my top-geared job.

The rotation is arguably simple, but IMHO very few people have mastered the class because all they do is use the single-target and AoE rotations without variation or respect to the circumstances when deviation or slight tweaks would be so more efficient. I'd even say that, with having played the majority of my time in the endgame either on BLM and the tank jobs, I still do not feel like I've mastered BLM 100%.

I think it's a combination of many things. Turn 1 and 2 drop alot of casting gear and we know how easy those two fights are. For turn 4, alot of people seem to exclude SMN cause alot of people can't seem to play them optimally. Lowest responsibility in almost every fight. Crazy good AOE in almost every fight (if not best straight out). Highly sought after for speed running. Simple rotation. Also, I think because the class is range and gets a wider view of the battle field, is an advantage (not unique to just BLM). Blizzard in fates. Most importantly, I think it's cause people need 1500 myth so they go BLM to get the Brayflox speed runs.
