Which crafted piece of gear is better than an iLvL90 piece of gear?

I am sitting on 10, 081, 739 gil at the moment (yes, over 10 million) and have nothing (logical) to spend it on. Repairs cost me like 1500-2000gil each full repair - every other day. I can pay for a weeks worth of repairs selling a single random HQ item.
The only thing(s) I buy are tome mats -- but those I buy to turn around into a profit so after the initial cost I just get profits in return. I technically can afford a small house -- but 8 million gil is a little steep for something so pointless (imo). I won't do anything in there, so (for me) pointless.
I'm not fussed though. Most MMOs are like that. If you can make stuff, you don't buy stuff -- therefore your wallet just gets bigger and bigger. My FC are super jelly at my gil but I just ask them what they would do with 10 million gil they cant (logically/beneficially) do with 10 thousand. no one answers :D
Out side of leveling up alts and repair bills gill is pretty useless. This game has a dead economy because nothing on the MB is worth buying. SE needs to make crafted gear as good as raid gear and then everyone could make money.
Repair bills, good looking gear, buying mats for turbo levequest if I feel lazy to gather, teleport, minion, etc
Leveling crafting and gathering is what eats up most of my gil. That and saving for a house. I'm not one of those people who have all DoH and DoL maxed, so I end up buying certain mats and all equips. I've gotten so broke I couldn't use 100gil teleports. But I don't buy gil.
People that buy gil are using it for the same reasons anyone else is trying to legitimately earn gil. They just know their chances of being caught aren't very high and find the risk work the reward. There's so obviously still a high market for RMT in this game or the spammers and bots would go away. Lots of people are cheating and they are profiting with cash.
A house. I've always thought housing in MMORPGs should be something that's open to anyone that wants to put in a bit of work. But the extreme, absurd effort required here is just insane.
That's not to say I'm going to buy gil. In fact, at this point, I'm leaning towards just quitting. I'm so terribly disinterested in all that the current endgame has to offer, and as the 'meta game' that is housing is denied to me, that's pretty much it for me. While the overall community is better, FFXIV feels a lot like BC WoW... with no serious PvP alternative. I really enjoyed the storyline up to 50, but it's like The Old Republic all over again.
I thought housing was expensive because it was limited.
