The original stated plan was that HQ crafted gear would be better than dungeon (not raid) gear, but they went back on this because they didnt want RMT abusing and monopolizing this.

Yeah, but that's the point entirely. There exists gear (myth) that is not only better than the crafted gear, but on an equal tier as the raid gear and easier to acquire. The way they have it structured now not only makes crafted gear obsolete, but also trivializes some of the intrinsic value of raid-tier gear.
I pretty much canceled my sub due to game being as it is, CT, fate and duty finder every day. Saddens me this game is failing
It depends on your server. I notice things tend to fluctuate. One time it may only cost 15 gil each another time itll be of 200 gil each.
With that said there many things to farm in costa del sol/ wineport. Night milk is typically 300 ton1000 gil each
The trick is to keep an eye on multiple niches. If you seem to have a foothold/monopoly on one thing one day, just assume that the prices are gonna get way jacked down the next by undercutters.
As a gatherer, I tend to sell a map a day as well as farm multiple things to keep supplies of a bunch of things high, then put things up on the MB as the supplies fall so I can take advantage of it (at least for that day).
I'm not making 100's of thousands of gil a week, but I can make a decent chunk.
IMO the simple answer is no and this is by design. Farming (Gathering) is primarily used to enhance Crafting which is used by players to earn Gil and enhance the economy. SE has made a conscious effort to minimize the effects of Crafting. Food and Medicine have little effect on a players overall performance except where gathering and crafting are concerned. Because the preponderance of quality gear is earned through instances and assorted Treasure Chest drops the best crafted high end gear pales in comparison even with Materia attached. This has been a concerted effort on SEs to keep the economy in check to minimize the RMT influence on the game. Until they change that philosophy crafting and gathering will be Window Dressing only. Again this is only my opinion but it is based upon observation and comment from SE.
Yes, I agree. As of now end game crafting is next to useless atm. Fresh 50s may buy hq ilv 70 gear, but they'll quickly have enough philo to get darklight everything.
As it stands culinarians are more useful for end game. Dungeons give enough gil for repair and food.

Too many people are expecting to make millions of gil with a few synths, and then when they see they can't get it, they deem the economy broken. Meanwhile, those selling stuff between 4 and 10k are making 100k per day. I know I was making 1 mil per week when I was really trying.
Totally agree 100% I know they want to abolish RMT, but in doing so are ruining the chances of this game to GREAT!. We need farmable items & mats and a better economy. Pieces you can craft like the abjurations in XI When added to pieces dropped of Gods and NM Made excellent and lastable armour.
It's not hard to implement it here?. EX Primals drop (X) item when you meld item (X) with a crafted item you get cool armour or accessories!.
XI had RMT all the time I played it around 5+ years yes it was annoying but did it ruin the game NO IT DIDNT!. That game has been going for 10+ years and in its prime had a really thriving economy!.
