Signed. Does the Fair Use Policy not cover this? I mean they can ban you from their forums at their will of course, but on Youtube, wouldn't it apply?

Youtube doesn't give a crap about individual uploader rights, I wouldnt be surprised if their free usage clause was changed or abandoned after google took over. Just trying to change what we have a chance to change over here.
Fair use Policy can only be used when the following happen:
1) Criticism
2) News reporting
3) Teaching
4) Research
If they aren't doing any of the above, the Fair use doesn't apply. Like if you put music that's not FFXIV into FFXIV videos and that's it, then the fair use won't apply here as it doesn't teach anyone anything, No research, Not reporting anything, and No criticism.
However, I think they should worry about the BOTs more than Youtube Videos.
wow, that police is abit archaic.
A reminder to please let your friends know about the thread if you're signing, the only way this will have any power to change anything is if we present a list of names they can't ignore.
Signed, the current policy is utter nonsense.

Actually; you can use all BGMs of FFXIV:ARR over any piece of FFXIV gameplay footage. So if you wanted to show PvP, you can strip off all audio (including sound/animation effects), and only ever use BGM_HM_Altima for example, or BGM_Field_Limsa04 as another example.
As long as you never use any 3rd party music over any gameplay of FFXIV, you're safe.
Also, you cannot use the Answers Soundtrack.
I'm unsure about the 1.0 Before Meteor audio, nor will I risk it.
But, I do agree. You should be allowed to use 3rd party audio, licensed or unlicensed (including your own creation) over any FFXIV gameplay footage. I think they should make it so you're not allowed to monetize a video that as Non-SquareEnix audio over FFXIV gameplay and that's that. But actually sending copyright strikes to youtube creators for using 3rd party audio is extremely unproductive for their advertising. It really limits the creativity from content creators like myself, which is why I will not do any PvP montages until this policy has changed.
Re uped the OP.
