It's not speculation...that's how it's written just with less words. They don't need to write it word for word for people to understand.

Couple of points.

1. If there is more than 1 person occupying the general position, I would like to think that before the FC Master promoted them to such role that he would be happy for them to run the FC in his absence.
2. How do you define second in command if more than 1 person has the second rank in the FC, surely 2nd in command is held by more than 1 person in that case? Therefore the rules should work, because if there is truly only 1 second in command, then he/she should hold Rank 2 in the FC by default.

Question, though..

Our leader has already been absent for more than 40 days.. When 2.2 hits, are we going to have to wait another 35 days or will we be able to get a new leader as soon as 2.2 drops? It would be very helpful to know so that we can go ahead and get started on a new FC if we're going to have to wait another month after 2.2.

Hello,

To clarify a bit, if you have three members who are all given a rank second in command to the master, the next determinant as to who will receive leadership will be the member who joined the free company first. If all of these members were the ones who organized the free company, it will then be decided by who signed the free company petition first.

Also, if there is a person that you wish to make master, you can appoint only that person to the second highest rank so that leadership is given to them.
