Personally, I'd rather you scrap the Armoury System then Lock 1 Job to 1 Weapon.

I didn't read his post and be interested based off of what he did or didn't do. I read it because of what he is talking about. It is a concern. Cairdeas often makes good points on topics that I have read and does not seem to be a person out only for himself. And even if he were, it's not your place to rip him a new one. For the people thinking I'm talking about Classes being locked to one weapon, I'm not.

They have announced that Jobs are locked specifically and only to one Weapon Class Each.

This is a completely boring and ridiculous idea and I can't be supportive of it at all. Especially since it DOES mean Thief can't be implemented as is because Daggers are part of the Gladiator Weapon Class. It does mean that Red Mage Can't be implemented because there is no proper weapon left for them to equip. Conjurer and Thaumaturge, White Mage and Black Mage are going to be a complete clusterbomb, I can't see anyone being happy with the final result in the balancing of trying to implement both White and Black Mage, or the nuclear sized fall out if one is omitted because of the inability to implement one over the other. Or the completely bombshell when a huge chunk of skills are swapped between Con and Thaum and those skills are the reason X Player Enjoys X Class. Now having to go play Y Class which they don't like because of one reason or the other.


Locking this system 1 Job 1 Weapon will either 1, leave the job system unused for certain classes because it breaks them, or overlooked overall because no one wants to hassle with all the limitations it forces on you.


Yes most of my issues with this system can be resolved, But it would be easier to just make it so once you unlock a job you can use it on any weapon class you want. The Job dictating your roll in combat and the weapon dictating how you perform said task.


I'd rather have the choice of shitty choices along with awesome choices the only singular hallway paths with no actual choice.

RDM can be implemented when and if they add the fencer class, which will use a fencing sword.

THF can be implemented when and if they add a class that would make sense to evolve into THF. They can make a class use whatever weapon they want. It doesn't have to be a dagger. It could be a knife. It could be a short sword. It could be a dirk. A shiv. A pick. Shall I go on?

You know... you aren't entitled to be whatever class you like. Not every game had a THF, SMN, RDM, DRG, DRK, or anything like that so why do they all of a sudden HAVE to be in here? Don't act like you are owed anything. Take what they give. That's about all you can do. B****ing about everything doesnt solve anything

Knife, Shortsword, Dagger, are all currently parts of the Gladiator Weapon Class. 1 Job 1 Class. Your locked out.

How pissed off are the Thief fans going to be if thief is locked to Archer? Forced to use bow and arrow and can't even touch daggers? Then you have the Ranger fans who would be pissed because Ranger can't be implemented. Oh wait Musketeer can be a ranger. Well now the Corsair fans are pissed.

Fencer sure, it can be implemented, but there is currently no plans for them to add new classes yet. They said they wont be for a while, while they are working on rebuilding the combat system and implementing the job system. I wouldn't expect Fencer and Red Mage for at least a year and a half at that point then.

How many jobs can use specifically basic Swords?

Fighter
Knight
Paladin
Warrior
Dancer
Bard
Blue Mage
Red Mage
Thief
Dragoon
Corsair
Samurai
Ninja

Etc. They might not be the best choices but Never has a Job in past FF's ever been limited to strictly one weapon class. Even in FF1.

The point is, just because glad uses swords and daggers doesn't mean they can't later add new classes that can use fencing swords, knifes, etc. The name is just that, a name. The only thing the system locks out, is what it has always locked out, specific weapons are tied to specific classes. If they decided to put in fencer and give it a fencing sword as its class weapon, that is a completely different weapon locked to fencer.

No Your still confusing Classes with Jobs

Jobs shouldn't be locked to classes. Classes should be locked to weapons. But Jobs once unlocked should be usable on any class thats acceptable.

Warrior shouldn't be limited to Great Axe (Marauder Only) And they shouldn't create a NEW Weapon that uses the Marauder Weapon Class Name, nor should they take Great Axe and split it into a secondary Weapon Class this is way too much work. Instead Once you have the job unlocked. Warrior should be able to use the Great Axe, Lance, Sword, etc. Weapon classes as thats what warriors do, they are weapon masters who can use VARIOUS weapons, not just Great Axe.

I'm not confusing anything, Cairdeas.

Jobs are simply battle roles that the classes are being given. That's it.

At the end of the day, our combat system is still the armory system, which has not changed from day one, and classes being tied to specific weapons are still the crux of it.

You are arguing that you don't like the armory system. That's fair enough. I'm not so sure I even like it. I would have preferred this game to have started from the beginning with a job system like other FFs.

However, I am refuting your notion that THF is impossible because they are making jobs tied to specific classes, which are in turn tied to specific weapons. THF is more than possible in the current system. It will just require that THF either be an added job to GLA to use the current GLA weapons, or they can add another class down the line that uses a different weapon (Because remember, the name of the weapon doesn't really matter as long as it is different) which could then evolve into thief.

Here's another scenario. Imagine that SE decides Thief is going to be a class itself and then it evolves into a job called treasure hunter. The possibilities only go as far as SE has the ability to imagine them.

Instead of going about this in the way you are

why not keep making the push for eventualy multiple jobs per class?

cuz lets face it, thats it the logical thing to do instead of whining and moaning that the initial launch of the job system isnt how you want it to be
