Ok, so i am going to post again. I don't want to sound like a D-bag, but i probably will. When someone starts a thread out with a complaint, its usually going to go south from there.
1: Game released late September (its 4am and i cant remember specific date, but i think it was around the 24th)
2: you state you played 1.0 therefore it is safe to assume that you had at least one 50
Question: Did you level an alt to run through the story quest, or did you sit there and expect them to have months and months of content for you to do on your 50?
3: Have you played an MMO at launch that had tons and tons of if content straight from the start?
Many players nowadays think "ohhhhh shiny new game, gotta rush to the end" then sit there twiddling their thumbs crying on forums cause they are bored when in actuality they probably skipped all the cut scenes, sped through all the dialog from the NPCs ( my two favorites, during the low quest in Uldah where you have to find the most popular color, a lala says "The color of the dress doesn't matter if it comes off easily at night" and the Roe that pines over Yellow Moon, who is Married to Bitter Snow...wonder if that's why he is Bitter)
4: Game content takes time to produce. three months after release is fast for a major update.
Now do i think the game could use more content, Absolutely. Do i think you have some excellent ideas. Yes. But you need to give it time. you want alot of content, then yes, staying out of the game for a few months to let the Devs work on content so you can return and enjoy yourself. Starting "2.0 suxs" thread is just working against you -

Yes, it's true. 1.0 had hamlets and NM's roaming around Eorzea. But, both Hamlets and open world NM's are still in the game, however presented to us through FATEs. Granted, hamlets contained more features which involved the use of emotes and DoH/DoL Which the current "defend the fort" do not have. However, that doesn't mean they cannot expand upon that. I personally hope that SE will add more as well as more diverse FATEs which include DoH and DoL as well.
The only reason most FATEs ate boring, is because (in my personal opinion) they are being served by hundreds of players. FATEs in less crowded areas are a hell of a lot more fun to do. -

I think the main problem, at least for me, is every content is instanced. Just dungeons, raids, etc. Don't matter if the game have 500 dungeons to level, coil till T20, etc, for me, the game need more open world content, like 1.0 had. (won't count FATE as a content, is just boring and lame)Quote:

They can't just say here, have one patch full of open world content, one patch full of raid content, oh heres a house, etc. They have to balance the patches out to semi appease everyone. They already said there would be open world boss primals that would be added into later patches and they would do something for your FC (You can capture them, pokemon?). I have never played FFXI so I can not relate to that, but I did play Ragnarok Online for 10 years, and that game was nothing but open world content, ultimate sandbox, game was amazing. I am still enjoying my time here right now more than I enjoyed RO. Instances and DF are a great fix to do dungeons that you ordinarily could not do in open world games due to lack of companions or just lack of people who knew what was going on. I do not doubt that Yoshi has forgotten open world, as the introduction of beastman dailies and treasure hunts are proof that he still thinking about it. Even if they are just a way to get tomes and other misc items. They are still something else to do then mindlessly running dungeons (I can shut my brain off for hours doing that crap it doesn't bother me in the slightest, but everyone is not like me).
In short, just wait. I am really impressed with the team and the way they turned this game around, and I am excited to see what a marvelous game they can turn this into.

OP what you're asking for is new systems to be added outside of normal progression paths. This will happen with time and, judging by what we know to be coming, there are entire new systems being added with each patch. The treasure hunts, dailies and housing in 2.1 are much more significant than the new dungeons imo.
In terms of game design game systems add far more longevity than game content. Yoshi actually shows a surprising awareness of this fact which is why we're getting so much stuff with each update. Compared to other modern MMOs we have a lot of variety coming in our patches, most others are literally nothing but new raid tiers and quests. -

I'm not saying they've done enough, they can stop now. I do however think some people have a severe prejudice against FATE's that offer them exactly what they're asking for. I also recall several references to large scale additions to the FATE system in the future, giving players many new things to do in the open world, and that what we have so far is just the initial basis of what has the potential to give you everything you want in open world content. Yet, it's called a FATE, and it's similar (possibly even identical) in concept to something in some other games, and NM's aren't called NM's anymore, etc, so it must not be any good, any of it..?
It's a start and I don't know what more anyone could ask for from a launch of an MMO. It's all just the start. The start of the stories, a taste of some of the content to come, everything being added to over the many years to come via patches and expansions.
Poor devs, giving people want they want, yet can never satisfy the vast majority of those asking for it because the new word for open world content is FATE; a cursed, blasphemous word that never should have been uttered in the FF universe if this was the result.
