Yea I realize it was early development, I just didn't think it looked like Final Fantasy.

it doesnt look like final fantasy, but thats only because it isnt overtly japanese.
the character design is overtly western but the terrain i think could swing either way, in fact i loved that desert area, seemed a bit FF12 to me. i think if it were edited by japanese artists then youd have a great medium.
the tech demo tbh doesn't look Final Fantasy trademark, so sorry but if they can make a game base on a good story line, why not? :P but still yea.. the bad point of that Techdemo is that is really isnt Final Fantasy, even the chocobo doesn't look that great.

Grin never made a good game so I can understand why SE didn't want to throw money away. It's weird that they worked on it for so long for free though?

Not to harp on them but they seemed to struggle when there games didn't have alot of Starpower behind them like Ghost Recon and Bionic comando. Why SE would pick them to develop a RPG of any sorts is beyond my comprehension, not a single RPG on there bio.
Again, I've not seen any proof that SE actually comissioned them to do the work. For all we know Grin tried to develope something to pitch to SE and when SE shot it down and maybe sent a C&D they went under and tried to make it look like SE hurt them.
