people like you will never have fun in any game, sorry.
what i meant by other means of progression would be something like an AA system perhaps
Satasha isn't fun though, I regularly run my favourite dungeons, Aurum Vale, Stone Vigil, and Wanderer's Palace.
& running dungeons is not the only thing to do in the game, there's so much more.
Things that are fun in an MMO:
* Helping lowbies
* Running dungeons/raids with unique party makeups
* Trying new classes
* Finding ways to make money (outsmarting auction houses/finding little known money makers out in the field)
* Exploring
* Now, achievements
* Your own OCD things like completing your Hunting Log, doing every quest, or collecting every collectible
* PVP (soon to come to this game)
* Roleplaying
* Screenshot taking, video making, etc (basically creating your own content out of the game)
* Crowd sourced games (hide and seek, racing, etc.)
This game also has or will have a few unique things:
* Crystal Tower
* Linkshells (for conversations without the strictness of being in a guild)
* Primals (various difficulties)
* The fishing log (added collectibles for us fishers)
* Luminaries
* golden saucer
And anything else that you can think of. I find it fun to find ways to get on top of things that are difficult to get on top of. Have you tried that?
Not really. I know people like to pretend like there's a rapidly growing MMO graveyard, but very few of the reasonably budgeted themepark MMOs released in the last half decade have actually died. They may have gone F2P, but that isn't the death of a game, even though people with extremely antiquated viewpoints like to think so. For the most part, they're doing fine. You don't need millions of subs to be successful.
Why does it matter to anyone what reasons people play a game? Just play them for your own reasons, and enjoy yourself. Don't waste time trying to focus on others reasons/logic behind a hobby..it just takes the fun out of it.
