Out of curiously, how often do you buy a game you don't like and blame the developer for tricking you into buying it?

The last game I bought that truly disappointed me was Star Wars: Force Unleashed 2. I was outraged that it was such a piece of poop compared to the CGI trailer and how much I enjoyed the first one - I was mad at the developer for making a bad game, but whose fault is it that I bought it? Who's fault is it that I played it from start to finish and didn't return it immediately after 2 levels? (Well to be fair the game just sort of ended when I expected it to be at least 2x longer...). I wasted my own time and my own money by not ensuring it was a quality product before buying it.

I wasn't pleased with FFXIII either, but somehow I was SO SURE XIV would be good. I even played Open Beta - and told myself not to judge a game by the Beta because so much polish goes into the final product (sometimes? lol). I had only myself to blame and I still play it everyday. (Well, I enjoy it now that it is functionally playable and I have a miniscule amount of things to keep me busy).

At some point I made a choice: Play this game and get ahead while it's free and crappy. Stop playing and wait for it to get good (if it ever does). If it doesn't get good and I play it, I wasted my own time. I have no one to blame but myself. If I stop playing and it gets good, I guarantee I'll be mad I don't have 5+ Rank 50 classes like everyone who did play.

That's just me though. It's my competitive mentality. I made the choice that would work best for me even though I may get burned in the end. I have no one to blame but myself and honestly that's how most people should assess the situation.

This sounds like a riddle that i need to work out.
Anyway if you apply this to life in general i agree , somethings in life you cant buy or own, you need to find it for yourself.
Sometimes you find it but you can lose it as well.
Ultimately life is what you make of it and it may not be what you want at times but you learn to live and get on with it.

A real treasure well that is something specail and can be very unexpected at times.

People need to go into 1.18 with realistic expectations. If the devs did not directly say something do not expect it.

They mentioned 1 30 and 50 Dungeon so far, Expecting a half dozen to a dozen dungeons will probally disappoint you.

They mentioned they are going to "start" adding the battle system in several stages... meaning what you get in 1.18 will be incomplete and not the finished product.

They are adding the start of companys. "Start" as in they are adding an incomplete thing and introducing it in stages.

They may or may not add quest, they have in every other big patch... so it is possible but they didn't promises that.

They did not say anything about jobs in the next patch, so do not expect any job additions.


Expect what SE tells you, not what you want to believe. That is the issue. To date SE has given us everything they said and nothing more... Whether or not it is what we thought it would be is a different thing but everything they promised so far has been delivered.

Expecting a miracle Patch will lead to massive disappointment as a whole. The game is a work in progress it will take many patches to see the miracle, even since release the game has changed alot. 1.18 is now adding the "Drastic changes" we all asked for in Jan.

Plenty off time to get my weaver to 50. Now that I have my Disciples of Magic complete, I can craft while I wait for Mid-June, but probably longer since he said 1.18 would be in mid-June at the earliest.

I think we are all just getting a little depressed with the state of the game now. It is hard to remain positive when we are faced with almost constant dissapointment. I am sure then when/if this game finally gets something worth waiting this long for attitudes will start to change, until then though these forums are going to be full of people expressing their dissapointment and frustration.

Getting a bit depressed with the game sounds a bit lightly formulated, almost 1 year of lolpatches and promises, is the big reason.
Keeping high hopes but leaving disappointed patch after patch.

Content is what we need, areas to explore, new mobs to kill (Oh Yah we have NM's) new City's, airships etc. all stuff that should be in the game from the day it was delivered.

Yes it's coming, be patient is what we are hearing for almost a year now.

Hell I wouldn't mind the way the game plays at the moment if it would have content, or when it would be possible to LFP.
The combat system isn't that game breaking for me to be honest, no content is so I'm a bit skeptical in the priorities SE has.

Anyway forget that, fix the core elements of the game, but at least hurry up doing it, as this is seriously taking too long.

Does it really take a year to fix mobs sizes, and a few NM's, if you look at the noticeable stuff in game it sure inst much that has changed?

If a new player asks if this game improved at this stage, what would the advice be at this point?
I'm sure that advice would be different if more content had been put in first (Besides a few NM's and some side quests).

I laugh at anyone who thought this game would be playable by NA whinebaby standards before a year of postrelease development was done. The same happened in FFXI. I wanna say 80% of the content we had as NA from Day 1 was from a years post release development including an expansion. When it was released in japan they had 6 jobs, few quests, and no Valkurm dunes.
