People want mobs to be "EXP providers" and nothing else. To them that's what mobs are (source of EXP and drops). They don't care about anything else. The only thing Yoshi will do to mobs is maybe make them even bigger again.

I would love this sort of thing. (Although I'd be sad if marmots started running away T.T I has a custom petting emote just for interacting with marmots ^^). Being followed around by a horde of Coblyns would be absolutely hilarious!
Maybe it should be taken further and certain monsters react differently to specific races (racial-based content is sorely lacking in this game... I mean look at the storyline; it's the same dialogue regardless of race). Roegadyn should be scary to more monsters, whilst Lalafell should only be scary for very few. Smaller races should also attract more attention from certain wild animals, whilst others are more interested in larger races (e.g. the goats with Roegadyn). It would certainly add to immersion.
I would also love a taming system based on befriending animals. Like feeding them, petting them, spending time with them. They could then start following you as a companion until you go outside a given radius around their territory. And this would include them not being hit by your AoE attacks, and them attacking enemies the player enters combat with unless the enemy's level is significantly higher, in which case, they should run away. Befriending some animals could even give you access to harvesting items from them, e.g. wool from sheep, feathers from birds and various items a marmot might gather (such as nuts).
Actually this isn't primary about mobs following you around or lifting their claws when you approach, its mainly about a mob behavior ecosystem that was mentioned several times in interviews with the Tanaka team. It was stated mobs would fight each other on their own and so as in real life. So you could just walk into two raptors hunting a deer or whatever.
Also this thread is older.
Would be cool if NMs got in fights with lesser mobs as well, kind of like what happens in FFXIII.
Imagine a bunch of raptors attacking great buffalo while he stomps the shit out of them or something.
Any traces of ecosystem the game had were removed- e.g. things like monsters having unique behavior patterns (goats following you, etc). I honestly don't care either way if it comes back or not.
actually, while there was certain mob ai, there was no ecosystem. when saying ecosystem I mean this big fish eats the smaller fish thing. I think it'd really make eorzea alive. I really hope yoshi implements this on 2.0
GIVE US BACK WHAT YOU TOOK FROM US.
J/K i would rly like to see mob AI comming back
They are adding migrating mobs in 2.0, but I hear you will need to enter an instance for it.
