No. They beat primal weapons with materia slotted, but with full materia they would be somewhere between that and your relic. Relic +1 totally makes crafted weapons obsolete

I'll quote myself again.
By the time I'm done gearing 2 classes in full myth tome/coil gear 2.3 will have released adding a new tier of gear and making me have to grind the same 300 cap myths(if not raised) again, restricting me to playing 1 class and taking 5 months to gear a single one. That means by the time you gear up 1-2 jobs, another content patch releases that makes all current gear not the best and introduces a new tier of gear better than current that's also time gated. Since content patches will be every 3-4 months, and it takes 5 months to gear a single job in full myth tome gear, it means you will NEVER BE ABLE TO GEAR MORE THAN A SINGLE JOB BEFORE THE GEAR IS OUTDATED. It is not a matter of "we don't want to put the time/effort in" it's the fact it's literally impossible because of time-gated gearing.
My jobs not my main will ALWAYS be a tier of gear behind no matter how much I play because time-gated gearing and weekly raid lock outs do not work in a game that allows you to play all jobs on a single character.
If I make another character for every job I level, I can gear them all up at the same time as my main and play them all in coil every week.
Thus, there is ZERO purpose for the armory system's existence and you're better off making another character for each job you want to play 100% of the time because you get a separate myth cap, a separate coil lock out timer, ~200k gil from quests since all quests + story quests are available again, and don't have to spam boring fates to level.
This game does EVERYTHING in it's power to ENCOURAGE you to play a single job on one character and never level multiple jobs or use the armory system outside of crafting/gathering, this is DOUBLY true at end game.
Please educate yourself and understand the situation before forming an opinion on it.
I did educate myself and I've played MMOs for a very long time - There's no problems with gearing alts, zero. None. The Armory system has its own problems and gearing isn't one of them. Fyi:
People wanted this system because WoW did it - So don't blame SE for listening to the players - SE clearly isn't updating this game fast enough so you really shouldn't be concerned with a patch 2 years from now. I get what you're saying, but you're mostly complaining about time investment while stating it's impossible to gear alts when it clearly is not.Quote:

You would think so, but all MMOs have its grind or type of lockouts, even the one touted as "the best MMO" - You seemingly get hate if you state this game needs more content or more fun things to do lol.
I don't think people are talking about dropped gear, it's more of a tome issue.
In this game, we are able to do everything one one character. On any other game you have the ability to gear up every character. They all have their own weekly "point" caps that they trade in for gear, and you could do all of them every week if you had time.
In this game you can totally do the same, you just need to do it on another character. But why? In a game where you can do everything on one character, why shouldn't we have a separate caps for each class? It would literally be the exact same thing as leveling that class on another character and gearing it up on another character.
Maybe it's because I was confused by the people (including myself) in my FC that is having no issues gearing multiple jobs on one character - SE is updating this game at a slow pace and even alternating the update cycle (i.e CT > BC > CT > BC etc) Neither will be obsoleted in a fast manner, but the fact Relics exist negates the purpose of getting a primal weapon since they're part of the quest line to get the best weapon which negates (for the most part) their dropped weapon.
Heck the way the game works no one will bat at eye at you if you're in full DL and a few Allagan pieces compared to not even attempting to gear yourself. The only argument I'm seeing is wanting to get around a time investment. "Lockouts" doesn't make it impossible or the people floating around in Allagan gear has done the impossible. Let's face it the only legitimate argument is storage concern, but the fact we have only 1 overall cap? It means it will take TIME and nothing more, nothing less.
More i play ffxiv i see this is becomeing a problem. Alot of people are comming from Aion,WoW,GW2, ect and have little to no experiance with past SE mmo's and how they enjoy the "timesink" people do not relize in 12 years of FFXI to farm gear took years.... you have nothing NOTHING to complain about in FFXIV. period. p.s. anyone else remember the 4-5 year wait for our beloved redmage pimphat.......
