But you were with your friends. Your friends know how you play so they don't mind. But if this was a regular pug party and I noticed, I would've called you out--politely that is-- and suggest you to do more aoe moves. Also, the Lost Canals are different content than expert.

I queued this morning to a 0 min in prog Vault. I'm the replacement tank. The healer is also gone. Two dps are waiting, sitting, playing dead. I examine them both, nothing unusual. I've got nowhere in particular to be, so I wait to see if we get a a healer. One of the dps eventually leaves but the bard, almost 70, stays.

I've been there. So I stay. It's pretty early in the morning. Chances of getting another replacement tank are low. We get a replacement dps, a RDM, almost instantly then as I'm saying "not sure were going to get a healer," the light party fills up and the healer loads in.

And dang, I notice right away our dps is smooth and fast. The Astro is on point with cards and Gravities. After the first boss I start double pulling packs together. It's never an issue. Sword oath for the entire boss, no problem.

That run may have started late but we were out of there in no time.

Just here to say some duty finder parties are an absolute delight. And that kind of run is why I always join in progress. You can find some real gems in your fellow players.

There's a post over on the FFXIV Reddit in one of the threads regarding the new healer abilities, posted before Stormblood launched where someone actually states that "Real WHM's don't need to use Cure/Cure II to heal". So I am guessing that is where the Medical II only ideology comes from. I was so confused when I read that tbh am I supposed to just Regen and then Medica II spam through an unavoidable AOE and hope for the best? Crazy. I wonder about some of the people playing this game to be honest lol.

Ideally, imo, it's better to give two DoTs to only two or three mobs before starting to spam Quick Nock with Mage's Ballad active. The reason for this is the fact that you have to spend a whole GCD for each DoT. This way you can do some massive damage without having to sacrifice your AoE burst. The keyword here is a good balance. :)

I'm the kind of person who likes to join in-progress parties as tanks & healers. Everytime this comes up I know that they are in distress and needs a good player to fill in the spot. Rest assured, everyone! Your tank / healer is in good hands. As always, whenever I come in, "I am here to help!" even before I became a Mentor. :)

Not really a duty finder issue but... In Susano EX, you see that purple glowing thingy above your head? It means MOVE THE HELL OVER TO THE OTHER SIDE OF THE CHASM.

Some oddities in levelling roulette. Both of them took place in Dusk Vigil.

First go around, I'm getting my DRK to 60. Healer is a WHM with a level 47 weapon. In a HW instance. Fortunately with Souleater self healing and judicious use of cooldowns (and the fact that it's only Dusk Vigil), I was able to survive the whole run, but I think I probably ended up doing a good third or so of the total healing for the run.

Second time, I'm on my RP alt RDM. I get a SAM who is level 52 and who has the basic SAM starter gear. Which isn't a problem at all for Dusk Vigil, but he had an ilvl 110 dex belt and accessories, and he never once used his Iaijutsu skills throughout the entire run. And I'm fairly sure he was only performing the Kasha and Yukikaze combos for the most part, because most of the time the Jinpu buff was missing. To say that run was slow would be an understatement. It's a good thing that RDM is on the kinda rediculously strong side at that level.

I wonder when people will realise you can just buy some adequate white gear off the Ishgard vendor for jumping into either HW or SB with...

Qued for Susano Normal for fun. Group with fair amount of new people. We wiped a lot. The main thing that kept bugging me is that our Summoner for some reason kept refusing to get close to people when she had the stack marker above her head. "Why not just run over to her?" You may ask. She was standing a mile away from Susano so me being a Paladin, yeah I could stop attacking to run all the way over to her, But me alone wouldn't save her. Believe me I tried. I told the ranged DPS we had to please stay closer to Susano so we can save them when they get the marker but the Summoner was the only one that didn't listen. Even asked her by her IGN to not stand so far away. Still didn't listen. Felt like she was ALWAYS getting targeted by the marker too. Whats worse is that the healers kept wasting their MP and time reviving her. So they were pressed for MP when all the actual damage was rolling out in phase 3. After almost an hour of trying, we didn't win, I left, I had class in the morning.

I've seen several people run with stack markers in this and one time I was telling a BLM about it and she seemed responsive (I mean she said "ok") and then the next time she got marked with it I had just been hit with something. I was leaving my health alone healing a newish tank through no CD Stormsplitter since that was a bigger concern than my own 50% health with no unavoidable AoE coming.

The BLM was standing between me and the large group of melee, tanks and RDM when she got the stack up marker, who do you think she decided to hug?

Yeah, sometimes explaining things bites you in the ass.

Same Problem, same dungeon....Wiped on trash mob right before boss as WAR pulled EVERYTHING up to the locked door of the boss room and he was super-squishy so I'd popped Benediction and Tetra on him already, had a regen up and I just didn't have the spellspeed to outheal/negate the damage he was taking. Tank apologised and paced trash second time and we managed the first boss.... then proceeds to mass pull everything up to the mob with the bear where the mini doblyns/coblyns spawn??... They aggro'd onto me because I was healing him, but he didn't attempt to grab them quickly so I got stunned, he provokes them, I have 5 second stun on me soo.... WIPE.

I wasn't feeling too good so I dropped out silently... not my finest moment tbh but I wasn't in the mood for an argument and sometimes it is better to admit to yourself that a run isn't going to end well if you don't feel at your best and there's already been some issues. I felt for the dps players since they tried to zerg all of it down as fast as possible but nvm. I've had massive trash-pullers all week this week too, and normally I don't mind big pulls because I can handle them on both WHM and AST... but the pulls this week have just been on another level of bad decision making.

I did a dungeon with three other players and nothing bad happened !

Doma Castle as PLD taught me that, when I have about 38-39k HP (swapped my gear throughout the dungeon as I luckily got some upgrades), a bunch of mobs each hitting me for 3-5k per hit hurts. I only attempted 1 mass pull. That was fun like pulling teeth!

I think the first dungeon or raid I actually recognized a stack marker, was Void Ark.

Seems like every single other dungeon or raid, to that point, had driven into my skull, that when I got a glowy ANYTHING above my head, I was supposed to run Far Far Away from everyone else. Scatter. Do the opposite of Stack.

(I can't remember any more, what I was supposed to do, in BCoB Turn 5, regarding "2 people here. 6 people there. If marked, (Conflag?) run under Twintania...)

Anywho, there I was on my first Void Ark run. Fighting Echidna. Got marked. Reflexively turned and sprinted away. One of the Tanks chased me. Apparently got close enough to count as stacked. Wham! We both took 30,000 damage and croaked.

The raid, in chorus, told me what I'd done wrong. :)

If you've got raid mates running away after getting marked, they're like me - haven't seen a "stack mechanic" before. or if they've seen one, they never recognized it for what it was.

A little coaching goes a long way!

Today was the first time that I have, as a healer, deliberately stopped healing someone so they would die. Roulette gave me Sohm Al HM and the run was uneventful until the last Scorpion boss when our bard got knocked back into the outer ring of lava. I threw him a cure 2 and went to heal the tank, but quickly noticed that the bard was still taking a ton of damage. I started spamming cure 2's and a tetra on him, expecting him to move back into the safe areas of the room, but nope, he didn't budge. After 10-15 seconds I realized I couldn't keep both the bard and tank up, so I just had to make a choice. Tank > dumb dps who stands in lava. How do you not notice 40% of your hp disappearing every 3 seconds?

Lakshmi via Trial Roulette, only new player is my cohealer also on WHM.

Over the course of the fight she dies 7 times. I hate to be "that healer" but can I have back my 20k MP please? Died to knockback, died to not stacking, died to no vril on the ultimate and my personal fave died to just plain running off the edge.

I understand being new to a fight but this was a lot. It was so rough I recorded it to go back and count the deaths. I want to support all my cohealers out there but damn.

Why do people keep running off the edge in Lakshmi. I haven't done a single run where the new players don't run straight off the edge.

Joined Leveling Roulette as WHM, pop into Aetherochemical Research Facility (crap..oh well, looks like I'm getting some bonus tomes to make it worth my while.) Throw up Protect, exchange pleasantries (which are only returned by DPS x2), and off we go.

Paladin Facepulls > Circle of Scorn pulls the first group (1 group, 2 mobs)
Second group, Facepull > Circle of Scorn again, BLM pulls aggro but burns mob down, no issue.
Third group Shield Lob > Circle of Scorn again, mobs are bouncing all over the place, I heal accordingly, we move on

Im thinking to myself, maybe this is the new person and maybe they're using Flash but I'm just not seeing it. Nope. MP never changes from 100%.

Me: [Tank Character Name], can I offer some advice?
[Silence]
Defeat first boss, still nothing.
Me: [Paladin] [Flash] [Do you have it set?]
Paladin: I knew it was going to be useless advice
Paladin: use flash more often
Paladin: not like I didnt get the shit 45 levels ago
Me: Hey man, I'm just trying to help, if you dont want the advice lets just keep moving.

I notice on future pulls the Paladin is now using Facepull > Shield lob > Circle of Scorn > Flash (x1) now.

I dont quite think that's how that's supposed to work but I'm done. We finish dungeon, tank leaves immediately.

I made the mistake of running expert without a friend. Decided to heal it too, as I don't believe I've done so by myself. Ran into a MNK and DRG who both had multiple level 70's and neither of them knew how to AoE. Thank God the tank was a solid 10/10 and helping me out during his big pulls because these DPS weren't doing us any favors. Decided to call these two out after our second trash pull.

DRG responds with, "They took out my AoE skill in 4.0, dude. I don't have Ring of Thorns anymore."

The tank is backing me up here, the two of us are talking specifically to one DPS and explaining their AoE rotation to them. They give us a 'yeah, yeah' and the tank pulls the boss (which dies at a reasonable pace) and he goes off to pull big again. And guess what? Neither of these guys are AoEing... still. Tank and I once again try to explain their rotations, asking them to at least humor us and try them out.

MNK speaks up, "This is how we've always done things and we have never had an issue with anyone up until you, Kallistra. I hope you like being reported." I manage to see the tank saying, "If he goes I go." right before I am dismissed from the duty.

I have to wonder about people like these. Are they fine with taking upwards of 30-40 minutes for one dungeon run? Because god knows I'm not, I have things to do. Haven't they ever heard of runs from other people that only last 15-20 minutes? Don't they even think that they could just improve on their runtimes? God, if I was a DPS in a dungeon, not new, overgeared, and the run takes more than 30 minutes (in a leveling dungeon) or 20 minutes (in a level 50/60/70 dungeon) with all other party members being competent, I'd be pissed at myself.

Hope you've got a better run after the kick. I can't understand those people. It doesn't matter which class I play, I always try my best independently of tank pull size.

Well, it's going to take them longer, having to wait on a tank and healer or their DPS queues.

Confession: I early pulled the final boss in an expert roulette.

... but man, was that run annoying.

Both DPS were amazing and on-point. The PLD, though... as a healer, they were all of my pet peeves:

- 50/50 chance at all times they wouldn't turn mobs, cleaving the group.
- Weird Clemencies -- themselves at 80%, the party when it wasn't needed.
- Aggro ping-pong, to the point that I would get hate through light DPSing.
- Strange pulls: some single groups, some double or triple chain pulls.
- And finally, a 15-second countdown on the final boss (when countdowns had never been used).

No, it's definitely not right to pull before the tank is ready. But this tank in particular pushed all my buttons -- they even ran off after I had regened and the DPS had slapped down their DoT fields. They felt like a player trying to run solo through a dungeon, and the DPS and healer were just silly after-thoughts.

There are worse runs, but this one was kind of frustrating.

And a not-so-DF story:

Ran a couple of levelling roulettes with a friend to get cracked clusters. I was tank (DRK), she was healer (SCH). At 70 and 69, we were guaranteed some of the SB dungeons.

So we got Doma Castle, and the level 69 dungeon right after. Everything was smooth (except for the time I accidentally used tank LB, lol), and I did most of the chain pulls I do with fully-geared healers. Friend hit 70 on SCH almost immediately after.

And that's when she told me: she was using the Shire Codex (ilevel 260), with most of her gear being from HW.

Either SCH is amazing, or healing is even more skill-based than I thought.

Today roulette expert gave Ala Mhigo with 1 new people (tank). This time not complaints about me use rarely Quick Nock, and I won 2 commendation.

But roulette trial gave Containment Bay P1T6 with 3 new people... After wipe, 2 people leave. Well, I continue noob there, so also leave. I hope they have gotten better player than me o.o

Edit: Now my karma in roulette trial gave Emanation in progress lol But success :)

Whenever I get a dungeon that goes decently (but not blazingly) fast and someone comments how amazed they are it went so quick, I feel kinda sad. Usually they're somewhat iffy at their job, so the speed is really them getting carried.. but argh.

Most people will just grumble in silence/private rather than complaining about the speed of the run. It can be hard to tell who's really at fault at times.

I queued as healer for trial yesterday and got Sephirot normal with three new players, including the other healer. I took Noct sect because they were a WHM.

They got smashed off the platform immediately after the transition and I spent the rest of the fight struggling through solo healing, multiple raises (including the tank, who stood in the very first blue smash circle) and just generally feeling I was not doing well enough. One of the dps was a SMN who didn't do a single one of the necessary raises. Still, we soldiered on and cleared it, and after spending the whole fight feeling I wasn't doing well even as solo healer (I'm max geared, I've done EX, I should be better than this!!) I got four comms when I finally exited. Didn't even notice they were holding the LB3 in case I needed it, the tank used it when we cleared lol. I was just too busy @_@

So was doing Temple of the Fist and all was going well. We get to the second boss who has that one reflect ability unless you hit him on the right side. Well Boss is almost dead so our Bard decides they are going to use the Limit Break. Boss does the reflect ability and the Bard gets all of it reflected back in their face. It was very amusing to see because I don't think they expected it and watching them get knocked back was pretty funny.

Was really impressed with the random DPS in a Sohm Al I tanked on DRK.

The healer faceplanted on the first Chaos Blast when we were fighting Tioman due to forgetting she doesn't offer you much time to move. The SAM and NIN had enough DPS to force Tioman into her second phase before I died, which gave me time to heal back up enough with Souleater combos that we were actually able to finish the fight just before Living Dead timed out. A couple of X-potions thrown in as well, of course, but that was quite the rush.

The Summoner I talked about knew what the marker meant. I know this because I told her everytime we wiped AND I noticed that whenever she got the marker above her head THEN she would try and run to the rest of the group behind Susano. But she kept standing so jobdamn far away she always got killed. Her thought as to why we were having problems was maybe her gear was too low. That was not the problem. Even one of our healers called her out for standing so far away.

There's a feeling of dread that washes over a healer main when they leveling DR into the Vault and they aren't on their healer role. And then you hope the healer you're paired up with can actually handle the intensity involved with the final boss of this dungeon. You hope that dread isn't founded.

Unfortunately, the last boss proves to be very taxing for the healer in question and you're watching them going "nuuuu don't do that!" I guess I'm fortunate though, we do manage to kill the last boss on the third attempt and there's no abandon but still... >>;....

Please don't go into levelling roulette if you're undergeared.

Please don't go into levelling roulette if you're a healer with an ilevel 205 weapon (Thordan) and high enough level to land in Doma Castle.

If you end up in a roulette that outgears you, especially when you're a vital role, please take the penalty and leave.

Props to the SCH for using her full toolkit to do her best -- and she really did use her CDs to the fullest! -- but I cast way too many Vercures.

Tam-Tara on WHM...zone in, exchange pleasantries, we're on our way. MRD + 2 DPS.

Tank pulls first groups, HP seems to dip quickly but we get through it, on to the next.

Bigger pull this time, tank goes around corner I lose line of sight, tank dies, we wipe.

Well crap...this is embarrassing. I've been healing for four years and have never wiped here. I know I havent played WHM much lately but yikes...ok, calm down, Domino, regroup. The Conjurer's Guild won't actually take away your job stone...

We regroup, tank asks "smaller pulls?". I'm embarrassed, I say nah, we're good, I lost you around the corner, HP dipped quickly I lost yah.

Wait...why do I have more HP than the tank?

Me: [Hmmm..] yeah I just noticed I have more HP than you...do you have any better gear?
Tank: Nah, I refuse to spend gil on gear
DPS: Wow...and you're missing an accessory.
Me: Two actually, the earring doesnt even have any stats on.

I just did the SCH lvl 70 job quest...

I can't believe people still struggle in O3S weekly....
Most PF acted like learning/progressing party.No bonus message but they're still make mistakes more than it should be.
BLM that refuses to LB3 Iron/Ninja because they don't want to drop Eno.
MT that decide to change the boss direction at last second before Spellbladeholy's Queens waltz.
OT that grab every adds in attack stance to put unnessecary stress to healer and the result is they let iron giant cleave the grp due to lost aggro.
It ... feels sad.

Dodging a bullet, really. Any DRG player that spammed Ring of Thorns for AoE (and there were a disturbingly high amount of them that I grouped with during HW that just flat out spammed it without even comboing off Heavy Thrust) has never read the tooltip for Doom Spike and probably don't have it on their bars. Arguing with them is doomed to failure.

A lot of us aren't able to go to O3S on a weekly basis. A lot of us still deal with parties that struggle with O1S and O2S, and if many of them are like me, we tend to not try to clear the next stage on a weekly basis until we get our clears on 1 and 2. I know I will not touch O2S until I can get a competent party for O1S. Plus, a lot of us have not been around for or have done the Alex Savage content, so yes, people are going to struggle for a little while longer.

It's almost like players need to learn a difficult fight before they have it down to farm. Who would have guessed?

Someone please explain to me why I see more black mages using manaward than tanks using their basic defensive cooldowns in expert roulette, please. I need to know WHY.

Because effective use of Manaward is a personal DPS increase. Tank cooldowns generally are not, and most in DF are selfish.

My recent pet peeve is that I can't play any role without going insane over the other players in DF. I don't play DPS? Nobody AoEs. No Goads/Tacticians/Refreshes/Mana Shifts. I don't play healer? The healer doesn't DPS, barely heals, doesn't use cards etc. I don't play tank. Tank stops for 10+ seconds after every pull and I watch my song/procs/whatever timer tick away when there's mobs 5 feet away I could be using those on.

I do everything in my power to make runs as fast as possible because I have massive performance anxiety in multiplayer games and don't see anything less as being acceptable. I don't understand how players can be this lazy and not have anxiety over it.
