Same boat here, playing since 2.0, i cant even buy steam version and use my same account, i'd have to start over in order to pay with steam wallet. I just hope they see how badly they are hurting their supporters and maybe split primal and aether, make one west and other east. that would solve everyone's problem.

The point is that people are drama queens. You'll just have to adjust your rotation to match your new ping. In 30 days, you'll have to readjust your rotation anyway due to the new SB abilities/changes.

That's like saying, "What, the game suddenly became unoptimized and you're starting to get hit with AoEs that you used to avoid due to lower frames? Big whoop, you'll just have to move sooner/quicker - you're going to have to do that anyways with new content coming out. It's not like those AoEs kill you anyways or your death means anything big when you do die, the content you're doing doesn't mean anything."

"It's not a big deal" isn't a valid argument - just because you don't care or it only really matters to (insert arbitrary line here), doesn't mean everyone else's points have no validity.

Unless your ping IS REALLY bad (300+) then it's not an excuse for getting hit by aoes. That's just poor reaction time. It just means you have less leeway to screw up.

Also from Miami, FL. On average I get 130ms. In dungeons it can spike up to 150ms at times. With WTFast ping averages in the 80ms range which is what I'm normally used to for servers located in the West Coast. So I'm not sure if it's my ISP or if it's the new servers. Other MMOs located in the West Coast don't generate 100ms+ for me.

If your ping is lower with WTFast, its not the servers. Its your ISP's routing.

The ping is the least of my worries.
I route through Level3 now where I didn't before. This is sad times.

Tell me where SE will get that money bro and maybe I will quit everything I worked just for some hancho bancho rando east coaster, SA and EU players who stayed knowing full well they will get shafted.

My ping went from 120 to 200.
I am so upset about this whole thing. I still can't believe it's actually happening.

The thing is I would normally just move to EU and forget all about this.
However, my SO is in the US and if I make him move to EU he wouldn't get to enjoy the game. (he tested it and got around 250-300 ms on EU server). And if I stay then I would be the one who wouldn't get to enjoy the game.
We both preordered Stormblood and have been excited to play together. Now I honestly don't know what to do and it's killing me inside that things went the way they did.

I know that people keep saying that the game is playable at 220ms or less, but it just isn't enjoyable. I used to be able to pull off 6 Ruin IIIs during DWT every single time, and now I barely make it to 5. Attempting to go for 6 almost always results in losing DWT...it just feels bad and not fun at all.

I guess it makes me sad that if we believe the 200 ping = the way the game is designed is true, players with ping below 50 still can't dodge ground marked AoEs. That said, I don't think 200 ping is acceptable in a modern online title, but then again my ping is nowhere near that high.

I'm not sure what it was before for certain, I don't have it recorded anywhere, but I did ping about a year and a half ago or so and I want to say it was in the ~180-~220 range.

I pinged it just now and I'm at 37ms, 0 packet loss. Omg this is awesome. I'm getting out of aoes that would have hit me before.

This actually won't chase any new players away. This is only affecting all the old, entitled people who likes to cry about things before seeing what actual outcome will be. The servers just went back up today, and its very possible that the latency will get better.

It does. But as much as I have been giving east coasters crap for making SUCH a big dramatic deal out of their distance from the data center, which now matches the distance from the DC that myself and many other west coast players have been playing with for 3+ years...

Duelle is right. Regardless of how overdramatic people are or aren't being about the shoe basically being on the other foot, having one east DC and one west DC would make everyone pretty happy. And they wouldn't be the first company running an online game to do so, had they done so. Yes, it's more expense, obviously, but it's not an unreasonable expense. Given their size, is there any doubt that simply doubling the cost of this server move (to set up two new servers, instead of one) is something that SE COULD afford? I'd be dubious of any claim they can't. They just choose not to. Which I think is a shame; I think it would have been a good investment for the game. But eh, SE obviously disagrees, and they have a proven track record of being stingy with how much money and resources they are willing to give to Yoshi and his team.

Why can't this just be the first step in making that happen? Who's to say they're not already working on expanding further?

I mean, sure, they're probably not planning anything immediately. But I'm not one to expect them to churn out everything they might need all at once.

100+ ping doesn't only effect progression raiders. It's silly to even think that.

140 ms to 211 ms from SA...

Southeast US, getting 81 ping with a 0% packet loss.

Vancouver 110ms -> 80ms

My latency dropped to ~40ms, but it was perpetually under >100ms anyway. Regardless, Charter is a pain in the butt when it comes to consistency with the lag. I'll be pinging it off and on over the week to see if that stays constant, especially since I got 4ish more jumps between my router and the server. Dunno how long I should let it ping for per say, but I didn't lose any over a couple hundred attempts.

California is sort of a staple for anything computer related. While it would make more sense for the datacenter to be in chicago, i expected california the whole time.

We're seeing a lot of "The ping is unacceptable!" and "it's great guys just relax".

I feel like the under represented middle here. My ping was ~90, and now it's still ~90. To all the players who are complaining about getting ~90 ping, I just want to tell them to deal with it. The response to those kinds of statements seems to be "yeah but you like the change since you're benefiting so much", but nope just the same here.

So I guess I'm hoping this topic can help represent those of us who aren't really effected much, if at all, or those of us that just don't care.

I'm going that the Original poster is still on pre-56k internets.. That has to be it... Multiplex.. I don't know. I don't see any difference or changes in the games latency.

Three days ago I was at 90ms. Today? 288...

I'm in Puerto Rico.

Also a PS4 player, so VPNs go right out the window.

I live in SEA.Got around 300+ ping from old datacenter.
Now its around 230 ping and I noticed the differences.
Doing rotations got a bit smoother,easier to dodge AOE and most importantly,my DPS increased a lot I'm even surprised.

To sum it up,I totally love this but still I feel sorry for SA players though..they don't deserve this ridiculously increased 100+ ping.

First world problems. I get 139MS from Australia to Tonberry on a good day.

Mine's 88. I don't remember what it was before, but that ping is a heck of a lot lower.

What? I do not know why it is so hard to get people to understand what I am talking about:

Deleting server tics (what game does this? my god and I think it effects BLM the most because of mp returns?)
Having dots appear like they should. Once I cast bio, then use bane, bane should transfer the bio, no reason for dots appear so slow. BRD also suffer from this and maybe some other jobs.
Lustrate/Benediction/hollowed ground/ Holmgang/ living dead are too slow.
All abilities are too slow and runs into clipping too much, meaning once i use an ogcd, I try cast a ocd, there is too much wait for me to wait for before I am allowed to release the ocd
Hitting abilities and failing to use.
Going with ^ hitting cleric, failing to drop, so you hit it twice right after because of that and you still have it on but on cd because it really read both taps that time.

THIS lag, (game coding/ animation lock, slow server processing speeds, whatever you wanna call it) always existed, even at 20-40 ms, having 110 MS just makes it worse and less enjoyable. Everyone I talk to sees stuff like this and makes me confused as hell when people say " I do not lag"

OK so i see a lot of posts mostly disappointments, you need to know this new data center and routing around it won't be perfect on day 1. we had the same issues with EU Data center move as well ( used to be in Canada too ), and the first week or so was Horrible we had routing issues, and it was mostly from the ISP sides and their connections ( namely orange ).

for those not familiar with the internet and and how it works, it's like a huge spiderweb with inter-connections and bottlenecks and such. the new servers are probably creating unusual or new traffic in some of the connections or hubs, so i think the ISPs need to help SE as well, it's not all on SE. I think with time, it will get better for the rest.
