Agreed. The "race to the end" attitude has definitely been around for a while. It's just gotten a bit worse since the Relic was released. I personally find it to be at the most infuriating when it's the healer who runs off before even casting protect. I mean, what exactly do they plan to do without the Tank?
Worse than that, though, is the general attitude that has gotten worse since relic. People were always sour in Alexander, but getting angry at players for not doing a speed pulls in DF or booting people for not skipping mechs was not nearly as common as it is now. There's also this bizarre elitist streak that has come out since relic where everyone expects everyone else to be AAA players who run Normal Alexander as if it were Savage.
