Yeah, I prefer the Viera mod for male Miqo’te. 0:
How about not labeling people as freaks or creepy? You guys are implying some pretty insidious things, and those are horrible accusations to levy against someone.
I’m a player all the way from 1.0.
I thought nothing they do could stop me from preordering the new expansion. I’ve bought each one as a deluxe edition so far.
I thought I wouldn’t be this person or care this much but I do. Male viera was the first time I was excited to change my race for the first time. When they denied me that I lost the excitement for this expansion in the process.
The environments don’t look nearly as good as 3.0 and almost all of the assets look recycled. This is what they were working on for years? Really?
I know everyone gave Soken credit for the new theme music but all of the melodies in that track are Uematsu’s eternal wind from FFIII granted its a great arrangement but let’s not kid ourselves that the beginning or end of that cinematic has any melodies in it. It does not.
Also what adds insult to injury is the blatant sexism in the game now in the way the races were introduced.
The girls are good for prancing around in lingerie while it’s the men’s job to flex to some 80’s guitar riffs while wearing leather harnesses.
I just can’t in good conscience support that and thus I canceled my preorder of shadowbringers. I came to see if this issue has been addressed in a way it deserves by the design team of the game. It has not.
I just can’t support this kind of culture with my money and an ongoing subscription to send the message that this is okay. It is not.
I’ve LOVED XIV for many many years so don’t think I hate the game. I’m just very sad it now represents values that I cannot look past. Thank you for the many years of adventures but unless this is going to be fixed I’m going to have to make Stormblood my last expansion purchase. :(
Everyone has a right to give their opinion on things but people don't seem to know what "sexism" means in the slightest on these forums. This is trying to twist their arm by making this issue something that it isn't. The only thing I could possibly consider to be blatant is peoples' blatant ignorance. I get it, people are upset. They have every right to be if they are unsatisfied with a product. But would it hurt to be a bit more civil and level headed?
While some have been pretty angry and out there about that topic, most people who leveled those arguments went on to civilly explain why they view it this way. Have you continued reading, or did you see that one buzzword and went on to reply? Do you have a counter argument instead of simply hand-waving the accusation away?
Also, for the majority of what I've seen, people call the decision and implementation that, not so much the developers themselves (though I have seen some of those too, sadly). People can make mistakes, people can not think about how how something they do will look, and they might not even see the problem until someone else points it out. The mix of everything brings about an unfortunate result, more so than any active insidious intent on the part of the devs.
I think there's also merit in pointing out that in any Viera and Hroth debate you're going to be running into this argument. It's more than just the handful of people who see it.
