Mind you, having been fossilized on only one MMORPG for nine years actually gives you even less ground to discuss on when we're talking about any MMORPG that's not that one. Maybe a broadening of horizons could be in order, since you seem to be firmly convinced that FFXI's ways are the only valid ones.

No I said it needed adjustment at higher levels ie. 50+. R50 is not the cap for the game everyone know that so as long as when I am Rank 98 and need 1,000,000 SP to get to 99 I can grind on things that give me 100,000K per hour SP or I can get 400K SP per reset from my R90 Leves then it's all good. I really don't think any level should take more than 10 hours of continuous grind in a decent party to achieve.

Casuals >> Want to have content that isn't time consuming but have admitted that the best stuff should take time to get

Hardcores >> Want everything to be time consuming to get

If Casuals understand that the best stuff should require work and just want content that is accessible what kind of content are the casuals wanting?

If it's not time consuming it's not going to reward you with anything which is the general purpose of playing an MMO unless you like pvp or something. Either way there's nothing you're going to accomplish without investing a large amount of time into thus putting you over into the hardcore side of things. And if you're a hardcore player who claims that having a job, school, and a family makes it hard to play a game just so you can have the game simplified for you: Then I'd say you DO have entitlement issues. You're just hiding under the guise of "Casual" to troll everyone.

Oh ok.My mistake i thought you meant for the current level cap.Yea i agree with you completely.

Level sync didnt patch a hole, it made the first one, since leveling was to hard for the casual, level sync worked in the short-term, in the long-term it made entire servers lvl75 excluding a few or anyone who would have ever wanted to start play and could do nothing to level, level sync was created because of people who endlessly complain about everything being to hard because they lack time.

Surplus is nothing, when you start the game, you get something like a 400% bonus to SP and it slowly lowers over time til you hit rank 25, thats a "bonus" that you are slowly weened off of. Its a gift that SE should have never given, give an inch and you want a mile.

And surplus itself resets every week completely or you just play a different job or be offline and it slowly goes down, especially casuals play-time as you all discribe as maby 4hrs on the weekends, you should barely be hitting it.

Something awesome though from this sub-topic comming up, they could add back in would be exp (SP chains) like in 11. At the moment getting to 50 is fine, but when it gets to 75-99 it would be hell on earth.

I don't think you carefully read what I said. I am AGAINST faster leveling. I have to argue FOR A SLOWER CURVE. It scares me when people with multiple r50s spout that all SP should look like leve link SP, as seen in other threads (this is not a reference to Alexia above, but other ongoing discussions).

The Holes of XI were revealed when WoW hit. They were there when the came up with the ideas and added them creating the core of the game(which was flawed without notice until WoW). Thinking level sync was the first hole is being blind to FFXI game design.

Level sync also was not just for casuals in mind but those struggling to get a party no matter how much time they spent online(like me).

Umm no I wish not to have a mile but be able to tread as far as I can without the Momma SE telling me I walked too far. If I want to walk for 5 days straight leave me the hell alone and let me do it. I am a grown man I don't need someone holding my hands trying to tell ME about MY limit.

I keep stating I am not casual which is why I feel the crunch of surplus. It also replenishes very slowly since I usually still have to wait a week but that's just my opinion since there is no gauge to know how much is restored.

Easy there rage monkey. Let me get this straight you don't want to be penalized for living your life the way you want, BUT you would penalize others for living the way THEY want? How is this a solution? Offer an actual reasonable way of rewarding people equally instead of expressing your misplaced frustration that you are a poor misunderstood creature.

And do try to understand that casuals don't want to ruin YOUR fun at spending most of YOUR time online, we just want the same value, this does NOT have to diminish your own value and if it has in the past in other games it's because devs misunderstood what players want.

And we all want the same thing, a fun rewarding time while playing our game. The question is how do we achieve this while not frustrating any particular group and alienating one or the other? THAT is the million dollar question NOT who's ruining what for whom.

Akumu, If you like you can check out the "Please remove surplus sp" thread. There is a statement from Yoshi-P concerning the removal of surplus sp. I will glad to see this change. I hope it is soon.

Only on FF14's forums can I come to see a bunch of nerds complaining about casual vs hardcore, in a game which has no end game to speak of, no reason to rush to 50. You guys are all antsy over gear, but I bet most of the "hardcore" weenies realize just as much as most of the casual players that the stats on their awesome gear does next to nothing.

Seriously, stop crying over how people spend their time playing the game. There is no end game to be complaining about how others spend their time, and what gear others should have.
