Why is Warrior a healer in all but role?

I'm not a fan of just putting damage downs on everything, haven't been since they implemented this change in savage in late Shadowbringers.

But that is due to a larger gripe I have with modern fight design in general, it completely railroads you into doing every mechanic exactly as the devs want you to or you're not getting past enrage.
What this often leads to is fights that simply aren't fun to do, sometimes even just because of a single mechanic that you can't work around.

E6S for example would've been an absolutely awful fight if you had to respect every single mechanic (really any fight that forces me to stand in a corner doing nothing for extended periods).
Just like O11S would've been a much more annoying fight if you had to do the red fists as intended.

Yeah, that's kinda the problem. The only time dungeons are fun is when people are running around in grey/green MSQ gear and are new to the content. People die, the occasional wipe happens and...it's fine. Unless you wipe over and over and over to the same boss, nobody is upset about it. You just explain to the others what to do if they're a little slow on the uptake and that's it.

Even in a group of randos, you barely need to heal. To the point that if I queue into roulettes as a healer and have to actually toss the occasional OGCD on the tank, I'll be surprised. The only tanks who need any help are running around in garbage gear or don't know Rampart exists.

You run into the problem of gear. If you make stuff hit hard enough for people in good gear to feel it, it will kill people in MSQ stuff. If you tune it for the MSQ gear, well armed players will barely feel it. That would mean a MUCH stricter iLvl sync.

I honestly think we could use the occasional mechanic that targets someone who isn't the tank. It pops up once in a blue moon in some dungeons and I always enjoy having to watch the DPS when I heal, outside of them screwing up and eating a mechanic they shouldn't. Run-of-the-mill trash mobs are too dumb to figure out maybe they should go after the high-damage squishies or the healer, but there are absolutely enemies smarter than that.

That's not what accessibility means, though. The accessibility in XIV is atrociously bad. The colorblind mode is useless and there is no way for light sensitive players to tone down the ten million flashing lights that are in every single fight now. Saying "the community asked for this" is disingenuous.

I don't think it would be so bad to have more forced damage and having effects other than vuln would also be neat for fail damage, make them thematic - the game has so many status effects that just aren't used. But in principle forced damage needs to be higher, even in MINE if I were to respond to most raidwides with afflatus rapture I'd overheal, it's pathetic. Of course, an option that does exist but is rarely discussed is another stat squish, specifically for defence in this instance which would affect gear more than anything - a combination of a reduction in defence stat efficacy, an increase in forced damage volume and frequency and maybe a reduction in the defence stat progression rate would increase the amount of damage taken (particularly by tanks) and reduce the sustain benefits of higher ilvl gear all without visibly nerfing anyone.
