If you want to make THIS argument, their track record was that while they did delay things, they communicated those delays well ahead of the time they planned to release them despite what was going on in the world. It was not unreasonable at all to expect this late in the game that a delay would have already been communicated, since that had been their pattern. And reading through the thread, that's one of the main points of contention.

I will also agree with a lot on this thread about how condescending you're being. I don't work in game development, but I do work in software. And if we don't make our deadline and don't communicate delays in a timely fashion to our customers or shareholders, that is on us and we take our licks for it. The devs don't deserve insults for it but people can be disappointed and even Yoshi-P himself acknowledged that this may have let people down or degraded their confidence in the team.

I don’t think some of the criticism expressed here is uncalled for. Especially considering the real reasons for the delays. They weren’t really things out of their control: hardware shipment delays, game-crashing bugs. It was literally lore nitpicking and fine-tuning that delayed QA testing the showed further server stability—which was already known. And I think asking for maybe even a slightly faster announcement to allow those that took time off for this isn’t that far off of a request. But I’ve already addressed that previously in this thread, and won’t repeat it here. Feel free to go back and read, or don’t.

Your post was unnecessary because it came off as shaming people for spending their time off how they pleased. If you don’t think it’s a “good enough” reason, then fine. You’re more than welcome to say that. But you don’t really need to smack someone that is already disappointed with such a condescending statement.

Whats Constructive about getting mad at the company for a 2 week delay and saying stuff like the company is unreliable or "this is the Final Straw?"
Whats constructive about getting mad that you took time off for a videogame?
All this is, is just venting, it doesn't help the company, so its not accurate at all to call it "Constructive" Criticism

The delay sucks. If it didn't suck people wouldn't be complaining in the first place. Most people, like Hyo, understand they happen though, and are just annoyed that the notification was so late. The few who are going out of their way to be psychotic and send death threats or whatever should be condemned, but their actions shouldn't be blanketed over everyone who is annoyed by the news.

I mean, it's time off, it doesn't have to be spent on something important since humans aren't meant to be working 8+ hours a day with only 2 days off for dozens of years on end without severe burnout and other mental issues.

Always warms my heart with how selfish people can be. /s The devs are apologetic and probably killing themselves to try and get the game out unbroken? WHO CARES? All I care about is how if affects ME. That's what it sounds like a lot of the time.

And people wonder why I'm a misanthrope. Humans are always so selfish and intolerant.

Note: I'm also someone who requested time off and I'm a bit disappointed. But I understand stuff happens and I can deal with it. I'd rather have them put out a working game without burning themselves out.

Well maybe no additional cost. But is not free, you paid for it... You pre ordered, so you bought a game that didn't got released and full price... So you can have an early access. And also you need days of suscription to actually play. So yeah no additional cost it comes with the pre order, but not for free.

If they choose to take the reasonable posts and apply them to future projects/patches/whatever that might be delayed, then yes. It is constructive. I certainly hope that they will take the better posts in this thread and consider them for the future should something like this ever happen again: ideally, don’t wait two weeks before a majorly hyped release to say that it has to be delayed. My first post in this thread was literally saying that I do not hold any grudges against Yoshida—but I have criticisms surrounding the reasons for the delay, as well as the very untimely announcement that also kind of dampened the mood of the PLL for a lot of watchers. And he acknowledged all of this—so I will give my props to him for that. Doesn’t excuse what I had to say, though. Or any of the other posters in this thread that had calm and valid complaints.

Sure, a lot of it is venting. Which people can do. But there are still points that can be considered constructive criticism in here if you read the thread. And SE can just toss out the exaggerated ones.

I mean, your just saying a better use of PTO then a Videogame.
So Im not gonna disagree with you on anything here, because I agree with it. My disagreement is people getting mad that they spent the PTO for a videogame.
