They couldve…yknow…added it specifically for the make it rain event. It’s been done for quite some time lmao.

Adding raid boss-themed mount to the store is very very bad and I'm disappointed regardless of who needs that money. Not even Blizzard does that.
Just find another way to monetize, not this.
Recently I upgraded all expansions to collector edition/preordered Endwalker and also recommended this game to my friends.
Would I do that if saw this mount in the store at that time? I really doubt so.
I will stay sub until FFXV collab event because I waited for it for so long, but then will unsub until better times, sorry.
This is a rather peculiar claim to make. Free trials are offered as a form of an incentive with the hopes of securing higher numbers of subs (and purchases of the game itself) down the line. The game isn't operating at a point where it's below profitability, and we know this from SE's accounts, so it's not like they don't have an existing pool of resources to draw upon to reinvest in the game. If those free trials are not resulting in follow-up custom, SE would in all likelihood suspend them or restructure the promotion. It's there to secure further custom and I can only assume it is working. Meanwhile, the game's subs have been going up over the past year.
I would expect the upgrades in the infrastructure to come from current sub fee revenue (as well as any reserves held) in anticipation of higher future subs down the line. They were planning the upgrade at a later point, it's just that it has to be brought forward.
If they are having to resort to cash shop promotions to upgrade their servers, it raises questions about how profitable their sub model actually is and, more importantly, where that money is going, does it not?
I know historically they have performed these upgrades out of cash shop revenue but that's really why I made that comment and the game really isn't scraping by for cash nowadays. So I'm not particularly convinced they need to do this for server upgrade moolah.
And then there's that, I guess. :D
Sure but it still takes time and resources to do, something they most likely aren't going to spend on making a mount especially during crunch time before an expansion is due out. Its not like they take the assets and slap a line of code to it and be like okay people can use it as a mount now.
Lemme ask you something. Do you go to restaurants, order UberEats or go out to bars with friends? All those come with a very hefty uptick in price compared to simply staying at home or picking up your order yourself. Therefore, all those people must be stupid. They're spending more money on things they shouldn't for no reason. How about the clothing industry, which has mark ups as high as 125%. So expensive pair of jeans or shirts you might own don't cost anywhere near what you've paid to make. Once again, just another example of apparent "stupidity."
Or... are all these luxury purchases that people make because they typically have disposal income and want to splurge? Now I know some will argue xyz is a physical item or you're socializing. Those aren't the same! But in reality all these things boil down to enjoyment. Sure, you could purchase a game for the same price as Cruise Chaser but if you'd enjoy a cool mount more than a game you might hardly play, well, suddenly that game isn't worth much. In other words, it's all subjective. What you find expensive and "stupid" someone else doesn't. That doesn't make the person themselves stupid but rather they value things differently than you do.
Wanting iconic raid bosses to stay out of mog station ? Bad.
Be happy dammit, getting the mount on mog station is better than nothing !!!!
More seriously: i don't understand ppl who want to pay to just use things in game, instead of playing to get something.
Progging through something either raid or just farm and getting the mount at the end is the best part imo, even more if it's something as cool as cruise chaser.
SE not making extra money because they can't use iconic bosses as bait is not my problem imo.
