Is the most optimal way to use Manafication? I was always holding off on it until I got to 40/40 for another complete melee combo.

what food should i buy for raiding?
For RDM, when is a good time to use pots in the opener? I'm just using a very standard opener (i.e. precast Aero/thunder -> dualcast the opposite -> fleche/contra -> get to 40/40 then manafication then melee combo.
If someone can point to a more refined opener it will also be appreciated :) .
On a side note, how do you force your mana to not be equal before doing the verflare/holy in the opener?
I have an opener guide on youtube that you can find by just searching my name. I don't mention a potion there, but I'd probably use it after Riposte unless you can double weave it with Embolden assuming it doesn't cause weird interactions with animations. As far as managing to offset your mana during the opener it's all about the procs. If you only get your one from your acceleration it will be naturally off set. If you get back a verfire and verstone proc you'll have to offset it yourself by using swiftcast or some other method. Ideally you just want an odd number of procs so it happens naturally.
Why do some of use use Manafication at 40/40 or even less? I always use it at least 50/50
I have not even looked at food yet for Stormblood, have not really seen any players use yet either so not sure but something with crit at least
If you do it at 50/50 then you mana is balanced at 100 each. You need one slightly unbalanced from the other to get the 100% proc of verfire or verstone when you use the proper verfinisher (verholy if black mana is higher and verflare if white mana is higher) at the end of the melee combo. Doing it at 50/50 you are also pushing back you melee combo by at least two more spell casts time wise.
It was just an example, i always keep black and white slightly off of each other, i should have said so.
I often see Red Mages do this, some do mellee combo at almost the very beginning of the battle so they are at like maybe 20?
Even at 40 i would tend to think it is in turn a dps loss
The value of the guaranteed proc is 24 potency and 2.4 mana. That may or may not be worth more than the additional mana gained through Manafication. E.g. using Manafication at 40/41 generates up to 18 less mana. 15.6 mana should be worth more than 24 potency in the long run, so going to 50/50 would be ok in this case.
From a sustained dps perspective this doesn't matter. The number of melee combos is strictly limited by mana generation. Cooldown windows, ttk or the need for burst damage can obviously affect this.
