It is solely a difference for its own sake and in just one area.

Hrothgar at least feature a difference in that their facial design is radically unlike any present option available. That kind of difference is enough to make an impact on whether a race is played or not, although it's a gamble because it can go both ways.

Why would it not suffice for you to just push their minimum height option below the female one?

Is there something wrong with an ideologically or conceptually motivated request? Because it really is that simple. It's just a quirky change that goes against the status quo of men always being taller than women at max height, nothing more.

The exact same thing can be said about the males being taller. Which leaves us with the opposite - where the females are taller - being different to all other races, which gives that option value.

I will concede that the males' range being beyond the females' in both directions is in and of itself a unique, new option that I don't think exists in the game.

I too hate the au ra ratios and wouldnt want to have that drastic of a difference. (Just a reverse of Every Other Race In The Game pls). But I think we should have the chance to play a race where the males get to be the more diminutive ones and the females get to have a more commanding stature. And if it does end up as the inverse of au ra (which I doubt would happen) I'd at least be content with the fact that each sex would have at least an equal amount of options for short and tall characters. Instead of the guys having 1 more option for a tall character tham the gals and the gals having 1 more option for a short character than the guys.

It's not 'nonsense'. The current distribution of player characters reflects that conventional beauty standards are actively embraced by the FFXIV community. As for the demand, a significant chunk of those posting within this thread have specifically stated that they would prefer the men to be tall, fairly masculine and at least somewhat well-built. The demand for them to be short is very much attributed to a vocal minority.

I've not once brushed off your own contributions as 'nonsense', so I'd appreciate the same courtesy in turn.

I'll confess, I'm a little confused as to why I'm being singled out. I haven't portrayed my opinion as more valuable. I've simply done what others have also done in regards to reinforcing my own personal preferences. I'd point out that there's likely an element of bias at play since if your issue was that particular act in general, you'd be calling out multiple posters rather than focusing on a single individual. There's no 'aggression' on my end - and I've been perfectly civil. At the end of the day, it's a fictional race in a fictional game - hardly something to get worked up over.

As for the rest of your post, I disagree that Viera men would be 'like the women'. I'd expect them to have something resembling an androgynous or feminine base face, though the rest would very likely be distinctly masculine.

As I've said many times throughout the thread, I consider masculinity to be a broad spectrum ranging from classically handsome to ruggedly handsome. I don't particularly care where on the scale they exist, so long as they can be designed to resemble men.
