Accidentally cancelled subscription renewal service due to my part thinking that I would be busy the next coming month or so. Wanted to resub for Patch2.38, and got Error 406. I have used another credit card to see if it was my end, and same result, same error 406. I had a friend who had the exact same problem, and she got charged multiple times ($14.99USD each attempt) for each attempt she tried to go through the GlobalConnect payment service that the Mogstation uses.
I can't believe this but I might as well start buying Game Time cards at GameStop, if not stop completely altogether. =/
Digital 60 Day Game Time Cards (Why it took so long, I don't know)

I am trying to transfer my char and got the 401 error.
Can I use a work around for this via paypal or crysta?
This is ridiculous... I tried to get a "Fantasia" for my first character and I keep getting error 401, no matter what payment method I try.
I tried:
- Direct payment via CC
- Buying Crytsa with direct CC payment
- Buying Crytsa with UltimatePay - via CC
- Buying Crytsa with UltimatePay - via Paypal
Well, I guess I'll keep my money then...
I read somewhere that every time you get error 401, its adds 24 block on the account. Is this true?
Had an awful time trying to re-sub today. I've never had a problem using my card before but after being un-subbed for a while I tried to re-sub today, and I got this error like 4-5x. Not only until I did some research (i.e, found this thread) and checked my bank account did I discover it takes £1 for each failed transaction? That's pretty lame. Any way, managed to finally buy some subscription time via crysta using ultimate pay. So if anyone is having problems with your card, try that!
Just finished my 30 day trial, was looking forward to playing this game for quite a long time, but as I attempted to pay for an 180 day subscription, I got the 406 error. I'm not even going to bother trying to jump through hoops for a work around. After seeing that this has been going on for at least 5 months with no fix in sight, I'm just going to find something else to spend my time on. I suppose I'll come back if I hear it's been fixed.
i bought a game time card yesterday from gamestop a 60 day subscription its been awhile since ive ha an active subscription but it kept telling me my code was invalid ive entered it 10 times or more ive made sure its been entered correctly but still the invalid code error i reactivated my account to see if that was the problem my game is downloaded and registered on my husbands psn account as it always was but the final fantasy account is mine i dont know whats wrong
Also having problems trying to resub...
hi
this problem HAS to be resolved ASAP
we no longer can pay using paypal with ultimate pay
come on SE, don't you want our money ?
<.<
I live in Australia and woke up today to an email saying that my subscription has been suspended. I tried to renew on the Mog Station only to get error 406. I haven't changed payment methods and the last 360 days have gone through successfully. I tried to use a different card and got the same error, 406. I have no idea what to do.
UPDATE: Contacted my bank AND credit card company to verify there are no blocks on either card but I now have 4 charges for $1.46AU...
I'm experiencing the same issue. 4 charges for $1.15 CAD, all payments are failing with error code 406 and 401.
Support database has no information on what seems to be a recurring problem. Verified no issues with my credit card, account information is up to date but now my xiv account is "inactive".
People have said in the past a workaround was to buy crysta with paypal but that option appears to have been removed. I'm still waiting for a response from my support ticket but it being an email ticket makes me worried at how long it's going to take.
Is it a mogstation bug all around or does the payment processor have issues with random cards?
My sub ended today and I got the same issue, billed 4 times with 1€ each time I tried. Soon, I'll pay for fail more than sub itself.
Just to add my $.02.
Registering the payment is successful (bank shows authorization charge of $1). When you try to use the registered payment method to apply the purchase it fails.
The response from GlobalCollect when registering the credit card is either not being saved, or the payment requests through Global Collect are being incorrectly sent.
I have a card that has been working since pre-launch for 3 service accounts that has suddenly and magically stopped working when the auto-renewal came around.
There's a thread in general discussion--http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...tration-Errors
Jesus christ people come on, its raid night. how hard is it for you to just take my damn money? I'm sick of this, all this game ever does is crap on its customerz and blame them for SE's issues. just fix this please and refund me my $4 in authorization check charges. if you can charge me $1 then yoy can charge me $80 and LET ME PLAY
Payed with prepaid visa with the buy crysta with visa payment option. Never got any errors unlike when i tried to pay thru direct payment ( not buying crysta but just paying the direct 14.99usd with the card).
this is extremely frustrating to say the least. i've been trying to reactivate my sisters account for the past 3 days. i've missed both raid nights, resulting on my static replacing me for those nights. I know this is an extreme and highly unlikely, out of this world brain exploder SE, but wouldnt it be amazing if people could put in their card information, pay for subscription, and play? Wow amazing right? You should try it ^^
edit: I called support yesterday and they did.... wait for it... Nothing! Yey!
I made a call to FE earlier today, I was told they will look into my situation as to why I currently cannot buy anything on the 'Mog Station'. I was told I would also be refunded all of the £1.00 payments which have come out of my account as 'service charges' although my payments did not go through due to errors: 401 and 406. I am now awaiting a reply via email or phone call with a conclusion and solution to my issue.
I will keep this thread updated with my outcome.
I am currently £12.00 in service charges.. Apparently I will be refunded..
I'm glad to hear that this error seems to have persisted since, launch? Without being addressed in any meaningful way. Especially since I have now received Error 406, which doesn't give a valid reason for even rejecting my payment in the first place. To boot, this is the same card I used to pay for the game and my first two months (the only months aside from last which I played).
I sure hope they'll accept their own Game Card codes, since I'm not going to wait the week or so from all those supposed extra 24 hour lockout periods I would have added from trying my card again and again. I'm glad that they've allegedly got the invisible lockout times too, because they're very clear on the amount of time that needs to elapse before retrying your information.
I hear there are issues with their own game cards.. Sometimes when used you are unable to use your retainer and such... It's getting ridiculous.
I've used the time cards, but because I cannot pay for the extra retainer service my extra retainers still exist in game but I cannot access them and they are currently holding a lot of items and several expensive glamors hostage.
Yes, it is slightly more expensive but buying a time card and entering the code on the mog station > account services will get you back in for now.
My specific problem with that route being that I spent like an hour finding a store that had a single one in stock. They have digital cards...but that involves purchasing them directly from SE with a credit card.....which is the entire problem from the onset.
Pretty much, google around to see if any shops have the physical cards in stock, call the store in advance to verify. One place I called I specifically asked if they had the 60 day game time cards he said yes, I got there and he tried to sell me a new copy of the game...
The sad part is that SE won't even acknowledge that there IS a problem, as evidenced by the very first post on this thread. They blame everything on the users financial institution, when in reality it is either their site itself, or global connect that is rejecting the payment. Then there are the stacking 24 hour wait periods with no indication of how much longer you need to wait.
This is such a simple thing to fix, and is directly affecting their income. It boggles my mind that they haven't addressed this yet.
Haven't come across any of these issues with Blizzard, but I don't play WoW or D3, so maybe the problems are exclusive to those games. The must play online part of bnet 2.0 may be annoying for sc2 players, but is ultimately a scheme to keep ownership of custom maps, and isn't actively preventing players from paying. Of course it helps that sc2 doesn't have a subscription.
Is what I got back from SE support. Which is pathetic really....because I was on the phone with my bank 10 minutes prior to this communication and they told me that there were no rejected payments just the several $1.15 transactions that were authorized. So both sides are saying nothing's wrong on their end. (I've also already waited 24 hours from when I started having this problem yesterday, but what will hurt with trying again.)Quote:
Agent Jordan R: Hello. If you are receiving an error 601, 406, or error 401 when attempting to update your payment method, then there is an issue where the financial institution is declining the authorization attempt.
Agent Jordan R: Unfortunately as SQUARE ENIX is not the financial institution, we are not provided with any information as to why the authorization was declined, only that it was.
Agent Jordan R: Unfortunately, the billing system is a fully-automated system. There is no person or persons overseeing the transactions and manually choosing which cards to decline. But once an error 401/406/601 is given, a 24 hour hold is placed on the account and any further attempts for payment will automatically get declined by the billing system. At this point, we can only advise to wait 24 FULL hours and try again tomorrow, preferably using a different browser and/or PC. Unfortunately, there is nobody in the Support Center with manual controls to the automated billing system and we do not possess the proper tools to bypass these errors. We sincerely apologize for the frustration this may be causing you, but unfortunately, we can only provide the suggestion to please remain patient and try again in 24 hours.
I think the biggest pressing issue is that I'm being told there isn't a single human who monitors the billing/payment processor (which kinda makes sense), or is able to see decline information (which doesn't make any sense). Between my bank and square enix I'm more inclined to believe the problem is with SE.
In regards to the dollar charges.
If it's true that the 24 hour wait periods stack then I need to wait two weeks before trying again (the twelve 1 dollar charges on my card). Which is also something I was not told by the agent before the chat was closed.Quote:
Agent Jordan R: The fees you are referring to is not a fee but a pre-authorization hold to verify funds are available on the account. The hold is $1.00 but will fall off the account after a few days. We apologize for the confusion this may have caused.
So after waiting several days (maybe as much as a week) without attempting to buy a subscription. It suddenly decided to work today. Probably due to those invisible 24 hour automatic denial periods.
Bloody pathetic! I have been away for 1 week on vacation...!
Just received an email from support as well, confirming I need to wait two weeks.
Only option is to get game time cards until it tides over. Which is doubly unreassuring because there's nothing preventing SE from declining the payments again in two weeks.Quote:
If you attempted this method of payment multiple times with a failed result, there is a possibility of a longer block being placed on the account. This block can last 30 days. If you have done this, you will need to use a different billing method.
Thank you for contacting the SQUARE ENIX Support Center.
They should at least let me withdraw all the items and gil on my extra retainers....this is silly.
It would be fantastic if they allowed people to pay using PayPal again...These errors are insane. Why won't you take the money I'm trying to throw at you, SE?? I don't want your GameTime cards. I want to renew for 180 days and not be charged extra (14.99 per month instead of 12.99 per month) plus I want to still have use of my additional retainers--or at least get my stuff from them. Fix your system!!
I have had a response for SE!
