    Payment Method Registration Errors

    I am trying to update my method of payment and I keep getting errors 401 or 601. I don't even know what the errors mean. The bank information matches with my account information on Square Enix. Even in fact I have used previous credit card I used to have set up to auto pay. It's a problem that has existed for over a year (http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...de-401-and-601) and SE has seemed to ignore it. I have a day left on my sub, and since UltimatePay does not work any more I am unable to pay the sub fee as many players complaining on that thread. Where there has been no official reply on since the thread has been created and the problem has continued to exist for over a year. I had emailed the support and tried to contact live support but no luck, have not even gotten back a reply from support. I know SE support is horrible which needs fixing itself. SE please fix this, you are the only company that seems to not want to take money. Making a payment should be a breeze and a smooth transaction. You guys always seem to complicate things, was like this in 1.0.

    You will need to find another way to pay pretty much. I have the exact same problem and no one seems to want to help me with it. For me it happened when my sub lapsed for 3 days while I was away. I came back to renew and got hit with it and nothing in my living situation or credit card changed it just stopped working.The problem is in the accounts itself because even trying a second credit card it just does the same thing.

    Ill ask the dumb thing but do you have the cash in your bank to cover the payment as sometimes you can get a error just for that other then that maybe trying using a friends and see if it works other then that best of luck^^ bump keep your post alive

    Just a heads up, getting an error on payment attempt/update locks you out of the payment system invisibly. Yes, invisibly. Attempting it again will stack your lockout timer...invisibly. You could be locking yourself out for more than one week and you wouldn't even know it. Oh, and, the customer support can't lift this lockout for you.

    Isn't it just great?

    Yes I have money in the bank when I tried to use my debit card as a form of payment and I do have available credit on my credit card I have as well tried to use; tried to use my debit card and two credit cards (different days, since they ban you from entering new card for 24hrs+ or so after you get the error). I figured out, adding crysta and then choosing ultimatepay; which then gives you an option to pay with paypal. I still don't think it should be that big of a hassle and many people won't even stick around to figure that out, they will just leave.

    i had same problem, seems a lot of ppl do. It didnt want to accept credit card.
    I got it working by adding money to paypal, and buying crysta through ultimatepay, with that...quite the hassle.
    The option for UltimatePay is still there...so it should work? but i think using CC didnt work for me either, which is why i had to add money to paypal account, to get it to work.

    I had the same thing happen to me and had to use ultimate pay. The weird thing is se did hit my credit card with the temporary $1 fee through their method. I contacted support and they said to try again in two days and if it still failed to call my bank. So I guess I will do that it has only been a day and a half though.

    I have a suspicion about what the problem is for me. SE will not confirm or deny.

    My credit card name doesn't match the name on my account, because I created my account with a nickname.

    SE won't let me change the name on my account. And I'm not very well going to get a new credit card with my nickname. Therefore I'm hosed.

    My wife's card has the same CC# as mine. Registering it on her account worked fine. SE just feigns ignorance and claims "It's the bank!" when it obviously is not.

    So I decided I'd try it again just now, and see if I could complain to my credit card company for a bad merchant processor.

    And today it worked.

    I don't know if the change to Global Collect was recent, but it looks like it's working for me now, so your mileage may vary.
