SE, please put a queue back. Even if its out of 2000+ it would still be better then 1017 for the love of the human race. I'm a patient person for something good. Your game is awesome the server issues I'm sure you didn't quite forecast what NA/EU pop would actually be. Your faced with a huge interest and lots of $$ to be made here. LETS FOCUS AND GET IT DONE RIGHT! I JUST WANT A QUEUE THAT'S ALL WITH MY OWN # OUT OF 1,000,000 I DON'T CARE GIVE ME A NUMBER EXCEPT 1017!
Haven't played for two days now, this is bull sh*t! It may not seem all that long but I'm debating on playing ARR after 1.0 failed. At this rate if I do not get to play before PTP, my decision will be easy.
Keep this going we need to hit 1000 pages lol. Just for a decent memory.
If we are lucky they will close down the NA/EU servers and save themselves money and grief and release us from our misery.
Here's a FACTUAL argument for you: The servers can handle MUCH more traffic than what has been trying to log in; Square-Enix has been intentionally limiting the logins, yet for some reason they thought it was a good idea to push the launch day to one day earlier. Here's another fact: I personally know people in the gaming industry, what they go through in developing a game, and what kind of schedule they have to work up to release. Now stop being an ignorant fool and stop acting like you're the only adult here. All you're doing is showing how big of a tool you are.
More FACTS: "An Apology to Our Players Using NA/EU Data Centers
On behalf of the FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn Development Team, I would like to extend my deepest apologies to those Early Access participants who have had difficulty using the NA/EU data centers.
In response to a variety of issues, we have conducted emergency maintenance several times over the past few days. The first instance, which was conducted six hours following the beginning of early access, was for the purpose of addressing the errors 90000 and 3000, which were first discovered during phase 4 of the beta test.
Our server team then began taking measures to improve the performance of the lobby and duty finder servers. The subsequent emergency maintenance was necessary to implement their changes.
This maintenance proceeded as planned, and afterwards we verified that the stability of instanced battles and the duty finder was much improved. However, we then discovered that certain lobby servers had been improperly configured, and we were forced to conduct another brief maintenance to resolve this issue.
Although we have successfully addressed a number of serious issues in the past several days, we have nevertheless decided to implement login restrictions for the time being due to the extremely heavy load being placed upon the servers. In this way, we can ensure that the maximum number of players can play the game without risking a server crash. I know no one wants to wait to log in, but I hope you all understand why we believe this precaution is necessary.
Once again, I would like to sincerely apologize to all our players who have been unable to enjoy Early Access due to the tremendous congestion, the ensuing issues, and the frequent maintenance.
Everyone on the development and operations teams is dedicated to providing the best possible experience for our customers, and we will continue to do our utmost to resolve the remaining and any future issues.
FINAL FANTASY XIV Producer/Director, Naoki Yoshida"
To take it even further, one should never log directly into the server, bypassing the queue in the first place. That defeats the purpose of having the queue. Everyone should log in to the queue, and then move down it to log in to the server. This way, it stays as a true FIFO routine, and no one gets the Full Server Message.
Now, there could maybe be a message about the queue being full or something I guess, if there is a capacity issue with the log--but that's a whole different animal than what is happening now.

Regarding Character Creation and Login Restrictions (Aug. 26)
In order to prevent server outages due to login and world congestion, we are currently closely monitoring server loads and making adjustments to both character creation and login limits as needed.
As we approach the peak North American play hours, the North American and European servers listed below in will have their login restrictions adjusted with particular scrutiny in order to ensure a pleasant play experience for all players.
As we continue to monitor the situation, we will be allowing players to log in sequentially. This will unfortunately have the effect of causing wait times for logins to these worlds, but this is a necessary step for the sake of server stability, and we ask for your understanding and patience during this time.
Additionally, character creation restrictions are currently in place for the following worlds:
Behemoth
Sargatanas
Diabolos
Gilgamesh
Leviathan
Balmung
Excalibur
Hyperion
Tonberry
Mandragora
Bahamut
Chocobo
In the event of any changes in the situation, follow-up news posts will be posted here as well.
We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience, and once again thank you for your understanding and cooperation in this matter.
Ridiculous. Played about 7 hours over a span of 3 days. This is very disappointing for a company that has at multiple MMO launches before. Just sad. Should be ashamed.
If I log back in tomorrow and I get 1017ed I am doing a refund and a charge back if that's what it takes. This is really unacceptable.
It seems like they're going to keep the restriction on for the next week, if we look at other MMO launches as a reference. That means that we're basically losing a week of play time because they are putting these restrictions in place.
^ This. Anything else isn't really a queue.
But apparently SE just invented queues and doesn't know how to implement them.
In the meantime (1017), i'm just supposed to guess when my world isn't full so i can maybe join a queue...someday...in a couple weeks...? /sigh
I won the 1017 slot last night and got to log in, but the irritation caused by this mess made playing only so enjoyable. I like this game and want to continue to like it, but it's hard when the climate is so deformed by nonsense.
These restrictions are just so terrible. The Q needs to go out to 10,000 and the worlds should just be shut down if they're fixing things. Do more 3 hour maintenance sessions where I know I can't get on. I've been wasting the whole weekend splitting my screen between youtube and FF and just having to hope with every click. I'd rather know things are getting full attention than have these tiny servers. The game is great SO I WANT TO PLAY IT
Or, you can just play on the JP server cluster, which has had NO PROBLEMS.
Seriously, the ping difference is 50ms, big deal. If you're in a guild with less than 50 people, just have everyone reroll over there until they get things fixed. I'm starting to think the only way this will get resolved is if they cancel their co-location contract and move to a REAL data center, on the main US backbone in Virginia (for example).
The eternal SE/player relationship, in a nutshell...

so sad... but true.
This 1017 mini-game isn't something I expected, thank you SE!!
looks like a lot of canceled orders and refunds are in order
I got disconnected mid-game when a bunch of people were fighting in a FATE, then couldn't get back in. Yaaaaay.
The only thing that upsets me about this is that my best friend won't be able to make a character on Excalibur with my Legacy character more than likely in the foreseeable future.
Things to do while waiting on 1017 to be lifted;
1) Have birthday *** with your Fiance - Done
2) Work an 8 hour day job shift - Done
3) Watch a movie - Done (nightmare on elm street)
4) Birthday Cake & Presents - Done
5) ???
6) 1017
havnt logged in but once in three days..... I have canceled my preorder... Amazing game.. just cant support this level of incompetence. It's like setting an appointment with me then no call no show. I don't care how good you are... you officially become dead to me. And actually for the first time ever I will be glad to watch SE burn away as a company. It is bullshit incompetence like this that makes people hate them
last thing I am going to do is work a 12 hour shift then spend three hours trying to log in. Fuck that Fuck square and fuck this game Good day!
Here I was hoping to play at a decent hour tonight, instead of my usual 3am playtime.
SE Amateurs!!!!
The problem I have is that everyone keeps saying well just play on another server until they are not as populated, question being how many servers do I need to go through before I cannot play at all (Oh and yes my paid game time days are going to be ticking away now).
Initially I choose a NA server (Behemoth) then that becomes full and I can't login because of this stupid error not even giving me a queue, I then decide to roll a character on another NA server and guess what that becomes full too. Now I'm onto my third server (JP) which is not full YET.. how many level 1-10 characters will I have before:
- There is a queue system put in place or at least some indication of how much people are waiting in queue.
I appreciate everyone says its a launch and all MMO launches are the same, sure but did you realise this is really a re-release of an already published game. Would you not think that SE would have an idea of load etc from the v1.0 game?
And on top of that theres no information on whether I can get my characters transferred for free onto a server that my friends are on once the queue/load dies down?
Just give me some free days for however long I cannot login, because I'm paying for each day. 15 Divided by 30 is 50c per day, money is money people!
same thing on cactuar still.
Not sure how much of an improvement this is from 1.0. At least with version 1, I could log in. I feel sorry for those that pre-ordered with the hope of getting early access only to find that promise to be a lie.
I think they enjoy bad rep. They already had lots of bad rep with the previous release of FFXIV. Now more...
Come on, I want to nyerk play what I paid for. Oh wait, Nyerks belongs to another game... -.-
Serious now. If they can't even handle the current player base, how will they release the game tomorrow for tons and tons of more players?
Think before acting is a good choice in life!
if 1017 says the servers are stuffed and so many people still want to get on to play a game they payed for.... Why not just open new swervers and let people move to them?
Obviously there are going to be some set backs, but eventually SE will increase the size of the servers besides in away early access is a way for the company sort out all the bugs. Essentially this means were still kind of a beta until they increase the servers, all mmo's have trouble with servers and the population in the beginning, these full servers are only temporary for now.
How to go from Hero to Zero in a few easy steps - for those companies with great reputations for great titles!
1) Make a game terrible in every way (Final fantasy 12)
2) Make a game with some of the worst gameplay ever designed (Final Fantasy 13)
3) Decide that the game from step 2 is deserving of 2 sequels!
4) Make the first sequel seem a lot better but have the worst ending ever written! (13-2)
5) Make another terrible game to give you time for the final step (FF 14 1.0)
6) Finally make a good game! People love it! Now don't let them play it, just let them think about how fun it is but don't let them play it under any circumstance!
There you have it! You've ruined your reputation and even your most loyal fans probably hate you! We hope you'll buy our next tutorial on how to give trouble to amazing companies that you, a terrible company own! (Index bought that one for Atlus)
I managed to get on within five minutes through persistence somehow... and then magically stay on without a single problem for the evening.
I hope I can repeat this tomorrow.
1017, oh how i hate you :(
all of them are like this, its freaking joke. I'm seriously thinking i'll just send in and get a refund. Its almost as bad as the first release.
