What things annoy you?

What annoys me?

People who are bad at dungeons and raids, so that I have to PL them sometimes for the whole group.

It's so awesome, people who don't meld their gear, slack in AoE and don't do Dps. What a waste of time.

You don't know how to play, at least try to learn how to play.

If I have the time, I'd rather quit, it's unbearable.


Except for the learning part of the mechanics.

How can some people die so much on relatively simple alliance raids?


There are also the famous group farm Ex where the group that created it is not even able to follow the basic mechanics and claim to be a group farm... Who in doubt could take advantage of a PL.
There are also group farms that will have tagged you at your first mistake before disbanding the group.


There are also the panic tanks in raids that kill you because they run around like chickens with their tank buster.

Forum posters who somehow think they are "MVPs" withstanding a holy grail of knowledge (?).

The FF defense force. Can't criticise the game or these specialised undercover units will crawl out of the woodworks to tell you why your problem with the game is not relevant because it doesn't bother them.

NPC enemies loitering around at key quest locations. When I've traveled across the length of a map to talk to the quest NPC I do NOT want to be forced to deal with interference from some stupid, random, creature which wandered into range.

Silver Ore(s).

Dishonourable mention to the people standing right on top of portals/gates to the next area, making me fat finger their character for no reason.

When people attack or belittle others for liking certain characters in this game.

i've actually found inventory management to be very clunky and annoying.

I did find an option a few months back that automatically puts dungeons drops in my inventory instead of straight to my armory chest. (Because we all know how cluttered that can get very fast when you're playing multiple classes. oh the agony...)

but recently i've been getting into retainers and ventures and it's getting worse. Every time I"m trying to swap out my retainers armor sets they keep going into my armory chest and I don't have a single class under lvl 50 now so all this trash armor/weapons I want to throw out, I have to keep pulling them out of the armory chest because the game keeps putting them back in there. The only other mechanical way of doing this is pulling the retainers armor directly into inventory just so i don't have to glare at my cluttered armory chest looking for that useless piece of armor just to toss it. I can just toss it from where I put it in my inventory bag.

If you're on keyboard/mouse, there's a key command (I believe defaults to "X") that hides other PC targeting so you can only target NPC's or other interactable objects. If you're on console, I'm not sure if/how you can do that.

Pressing the X button on PS4 controller seems to aim for NPCS first by default.

Houseing in its current state. Lottery helped, but locking this feature behind luck and scarcity just sucks.

Lack of a dedicated ‘crafting’ bag for mats and stuff.

The use of Gysahl to summon your companion… feels like thats something which should be retired and replaced with a direct summon command.

Hmm… I feel this is gonna be unpopular, but I have never been keen on the idea of a healer letting say a Tank or DPS die. I get it, people who mess up can be a pain. I have been on both sides of that issue. However, just letting them die just seems I dunno… mean spirited? This is aimed at those who do not even try and speak out to see if the person in question realises they are making an error or not.

I’ve nothing against anyone that engages as such though it becomes irritable & just pretty disturbing the lengths of an individual’s mindset that so actively go on about it. Last year joined an FC that I thought was otherwise friendly & as soon as I’ve joined it had beyond explicit hedonism & beyond which just was perplexing & surprised neither Discord nor FFXIV hasn’t tackled on it.

- FC LGBTQ/Safe Space/Pronouns/ Political Correctness announcements & constant emphasis on it. -

I am not anti LGBTQ nor do I endorse any ideology or political stance (while I also believe it is everyone’s right to become something of it provided within civility & tolerance grounds, even with indifference & perspectives). Lately it’s been pretty obnoxious & disruptive as though you’re attempting to make an announcement to the world & frankly I truly do not care your background/stance except the merits of your character that otherwise speaks highlights & reflects your overall persona with other’s.

The same can be said of anything controversial related to right wing or any uncomfortable sorts that just seeks to bring mayhem, entropy & just an unruly environment (See WoW’s community for instance).

It appears people often miss the element to disengage the temporal respite to play ffxiv away from irl sorts.

- Lack of further private housing. -

Makes no sense how there are so many small plot lands for FC’s (least in my server Faerie) & just hardly any private available.

PS: This “Island Sanctuary” just seems like adding sugar into the soup.

What the hell happened!?

No major deaths, nothing catastrophic or apocalyptic, & poor lack of story for Garlemald (our long rivals throughout history).

When politics are pulled into my escapism and the people pushing the politics bitch about religion while being the biggest zealots I've seen in my 32 years of life.

Limsa chillers feeling entitled to use Shout chat as Say chat and insulting you if you complain about it.
I don't care what you're saying on the ERP bench, much less so when I am at the Fisherman's Guild.

Wait, people actually stay in towns instead of afking out in the wild near settlements? I tend to keep my character afk at Camp Overlook because nobody is ever there to annoy me.

I like to AFK somewhere with a purpose. I don't really like the town hub personally for just about the same reason, but I like to AFK in my Inn room the most probably (glamour). Gold saucer, for earning some MGP on occasion when I tab back in. The most useless place I afk is probably my house though.

I avoid letting myself become annoyed by any game or any aspect of life in general. If I feel annoyed, then I either: A, change the situation (if I have the power to do so); or B, move on.

Dear diary, things that annoy me about FF14 because some poor stranger asked for them, how many do you want I have a lot of them:

- Weird delays when playing NIN that result in bunny casts at the most inconvenient times.
- Why do I have to click Yes to a bunch of stuff that really should be Yes by default? Seriously, why?
- Buff/debuff timers missing on raid/group members, especially when timing is important.
- PLDs using Clemency during their burst when they shouldn't. C'mon, have a little faith.
- DF pulling just as I'm prepping my Huton/Sneak, especially when the gate just came down.
- [Duty Complete] Pinax memes.
- "Extremely good player" being the cause of [Duty Complete] Pinax memes. (You could've done shrooms some other time, guy, you're not fooling anybody)
- How long it takes to clear my inventory: desynthesis; extracting materia; putting stuff on market board; searching for dupes; other tidying up that's done
- 40,000 gil weekly limit on Doman reconstruction donations. Bump it up please!
- 20 items in my mailbox maximum, Yawn!
- Extra retainers cost extra money.
- Suspend a retainer? Lose all access to it and its contents until you buy it back.
- Armoire not accommodating expansion job gear or sets; I'd be more accepting if it at least allowed dyed versions.
- Apartments are Tiny. Seriously, open your map when you're in one or put down a raid marker.
- Room decoration jank.
- The housing system. At least layer in more wards now and then, I think that would placate a lot of players' expectations.
- Side note but I can't get over it even though it's lightly fixed: FCs getting half the wards... COME ON. My FC ward is still over half empty, it's messed up!
- General crafting speed. It takes so. hecking. long. to craft anything, HQ or not.
- Macros. They suck and SE should feel bad.
- Would it kill them to add a few extra faces now and then? How hard could it be for an artist to doll one up? You're leaving Fantasia money literally on the table.
- The world needs more femezens. Sorry, it's just true.
- The world of FFXIV is not dangerous at all. Ewreka comes close, make it more like that.
- Beast Tribe quests aren't very good. I did the ARR ones a few days ago because I needed some Unidentified stuff and they have you raiding a rival camp by yourself. From a narrative standpoint, that's actually pretty good and better than the milquetoast stuff we've been getting since!
- Gold Saucer needs moar gamez.
- Yojimbo is a cheating jerkus.
- Typhon is pretty cool. Ultros needs to be put in a GS game somewhere (not just Air Force One).
- The quests in general are just awful from a pacing and productivity standpoint. This has already been elaborated on elsewhere I'm sure, but it still bugs me.
- We need more Favorite Mount/Minion slots.
- Pots costing a somewhat hidden GCD is dumb.
- Any chance we could solo old treasure vaults? (this is a long shot I know)
- Why is Crystal Tower like the dev team's favorite thing in this game?

Hmm. If I had the ability to improve FFXIV, I would work on the inventory and glamour systems first. I would also wish to improve character customization, character models, etc. at least to be in line with newer and upcoming MMOs.

So far, I have not encountered anything in FFXIV that would discourage me from playing. I played WoW ever since it released back when I was still a child, but I moved from that game when my interest waned. I believe the thing that finally did me in on WoW, despite all the great times I had in that game, was within the past two years when designers and writers injected political correctness into the game in myriad ways. I have no interest in political correctness, especially not within a fantasy game. (Hence my enjoyment of classic Warhammer fantasy, for instance.) I suspect that incorporating real-life politics, political correctness, real-life social concerns, etc. into the game would steer me away faster than most gameplay-oriented matters because I tend to be easy to please otherwise.

- 200/200 friend list
- small data centers
- Tab button picking completely random targets, instead of picking the one, that closest to display center

Not being able to use most of my glams because of arbitrary job restrictions.

It took me a looooong time to figure this out, but it's not random. Tab targeting picks visible targets in left-to-right order (starting from your current target if you have one), and Shift-Tab goes right-to-left. Once I realized that, tab targeting made a ton more sense and became a lot less frustrating.

Huh...I thought about it and nothing really bugs me. If I don't like something I just move away from it, If someone is being rude I just block them, If I hated the game I'd just quit.

This always annoyed me to I use to think it'd target the closer target.

- That blacklisting someone does NOT take you off their friend list. I know this is probably going on with a small group of people; but with DC travel, I am sure some people are dealing with stalkers. It annoys me that this has not been fixed before DC travel was released.

- Meta talk. "This job in this role is better than that job." talk. Guys, they designed the game to BE SURE that every job can clear all content. Even the bottom of the bottom, (Changes every expac) has the opportunity to clear. The biggest headache is that people look more at jobs than the player ability to learn, react, and be at their best. I know monster white mages that got so many people through content; but their static leader is bothering them to change to Astro because "buffs". They try and their skill goes down because they dislike the playstyle and/or they don't have that much experience with the job. This is just a common example... but seriously, let people play the jobs they are confident in.

That's what I thought, too, and I'm pretty sure it's because that is the way it's designed in some other games, and I just didn't realize it wasn't a universal thing and was set up differently here.

As far as I know it's an issue with targeted attacks like DRG's AoE, but when you're running between packs and trying to do a GCD, sometimes the game just says "nah" and doesn't let it go off. Especially infuriating when it happens 5-10 times in a row.

I've found it happens most often when you have one of the mobs targeted, that was in front of you, and it ends up being behind you because of how it was moving towards the group before the tank kept running past.

When the game randomly makes me lose the target on the boss. It makes sense if there's like a phase transition, but when the boss is just jumping to a new position, my target should remain, dangit.

These take such a long time to breed, even under a good production schedule. People crashing the market this badly just annoys me like nothing else.

How it has become accepted, even normal to just ignore the Commendation feature. It often doesn't matter how good you do, how friendly you are, how helpful you are, or how well you know the content. Most players just leave faster than you can exit the cut scene and race to try and try and throw your commendation out. It bothers me that titles and mounts are locked behind commendations that are nearly impossible to get.

If you think nobody did a good enough job to deserve one, that's fine. But I have a hard time believing this is the cast 100% of the time. I wish they would make it an opt out system. *shrug*


Also, it bothers me that I have to wait for NPC's to /emote long, complex strings of emotes during side quests. I can't count how many times I've rappid fire pressed buttons wishing I could skip them and their 50 second emote chain. It's just a side quest...let me move on!

Hmm... just spitballn here but... add a buff to players who give comms that increases their sprint duration by 1 minute for x minutes (or other random buffs, like free teleports for 30 mins, 200% exp / spirit bond on open world monster kills for 30 mins up to 25% level or 200% spirit bond progress), and add to the weekly achievement a little bit of end game tomes (not a lot just like 1 roulette worth)... Maybe at the end use our new profile plates to label players best achievements. Like 'most mechanics dodged', 'most damage', 'most support damage', etc. Little fun badges of honor, attempting to avoid the situation of NOT giving a player one lol-- which might help players make different decisions than "must gib to tank and healer". Might pick the SAM for doing most damage, or maybe MCH for most mechanics dodged (/completed).

Seriously off the wall thoughts though.. might need further discussion for potential consequences.
