Personally I'd rather them slow it down a bit to allow for mell well though out play, but many people seem to think that speeding/slowing the GCD wont effect the gameplay on a base level and I'm sure that regardless of what way they go it will effect the game in a massive way if they do either.
Combat still too slow. We need a shorter Global Cooldown!

I'm now 50 and at endgame, and I couldn't disagree more with this thread. I already have so much going on that I don't want to be able to hit buttons faster, and I don't think a shorter GCD would improve anything. It's plenty fast and the GCD makes players make important decisions instead of just button spamming. I like it.

Usually I am fine with the gcd, I don't often think it is too long except for when there is a need to use Esuna and after casting it I have to watch the tanks HP fall (as tanks seem to love being hit by aoe during my CD) as I can't do anything to heal for 1,5 seconds until the GCD ends. So while I am fine with the GCD I don't think a skill like Medica should trigger the GCD as there is not much meaning in having a cast time shorter than the GCD for it then.

Why is flash on the same GCD as butchers block. Or shield bash?
I can whack with my sword and cast flash at the same time. And Whacking someone with a sword and the shield without a major delay is also possible.
Apart from that. I have no issues with GCD. That down time when changing classes in field, that could be shortened though -

I used to think that the GCD in this game was horrendously long, coming straight from WoW to play this game during Beta last summer. At the start of this year, I tried out WoW again for a little while and couldn't for the life of me get back into it not because it was too fast, but because it felt so spammy.
Like others have pointed out, some attack animations in this game are pretty long (especially DRG) and they'd probably clip with shorter CD's, just like the way they do now when you weave. Either that, or everyone would look like they were on crack lol.
There's also the matter of MNK's, whose GL3 significantly decreases the GCD timer. I'd say go play that if you prefer shorter GCD's (I've also found that playing MNK makes you better at other jobs. When I first turned 50 as DRG I was really overwhelmed for the first few hours due to my amount of skills, but now after getting good with MNK, I feel as if I have all the time in the world to decide upon action as any other job) definitely a fun job, but just an overall decrease on GCD would make this game more spammy than it already is.
