Well, you know, Cid is a Garlean by birth who's defected to Eorzea and who is providing a lot of the Garlean technological secrets to the Eorzean cities, so it's entirely feasible he's the one who'll provide the player magitek armour eventually instead.
But having to beat up Imperial troops to steal their magitek armour for use as your mount also sounds very appealing actually (as long as it's not too difficult) - possible quest perhaps? ;)

Yoshi said not everything will be implemented at launch. That may be why they took some pics off the official site. Some things may be quest related and SE is suppressing anything that gives away any part of the story line.
Personally I think suppressing the story is a bad idea. ESO is releasing a ton of stuff on storyline and fans are going gung-ho over it. Releasing info is not the same as experiencing the actual events in-game. I think SE is being too tight lipped.
Was going through your new art thread - I think SE should revist some of those concept arts you showed, like for Thanalan zones outside of Uldah.. Or were those alpha arts?

Actually just revist all the concept art.. lol Its all amazingly detailed.
Grid of 2.0 looks a bit like its concept art now, hopefully they can find the time to add fog to finish off the effect with weather and light. Fog is a beyond amazing terrain tool.. (fog colors and density + lighting = different worlds with the same models lol)
