Better glam overall would also be nice. That's not the subject of the thread, but I will for sure agree with that.
It should be much better, more detailed, ideally more fantasy and less modern glams that can all be equipped on whoever regardless of gender.
FFXIV has always been a little...uninspired when it comes to glam making, with males usually getting the shortest end of the stick (probably have what, 30 pairs of the exact same slack pants). but all of this is just my opinions and feelings as well.

If they produced much better looking glams, that would raise the benefits to removing genderlock even more, as instead of just one awesome new outfit, everyone would then have two new awesome outfits to mix and match with. It would be a win win for many players, so I hope to someday see that come true.

you see where I think what should happen is we should have both version female and male but also have a other one what could be a mix of the two instead that would be a good middle ground in my book

I've wanted that for ages. A few other games with outfit options have had socks/tights as a separate piece and it's so much better than having them stuck to the legwear here.

Repetitive slacks is also a general problem with recent glamour sets for both genders. A lot of them are coming with very similar pants, gloves and shoes with little effort to add variations that still suit the outfits.

You don't need a third outfit for that. You just need the masculine and feminine versions freely equippable without getting altered, and let the players mix and match for themselves. That's the whole point of this thread.

Alternatively, it'd be nice if they can add "/visor"-like function to all slots.

That is certainly a valid opinion to have, however given that the lewd items already exist in game, it's weird and unfair that ONLY female characters can wear them. What kind of precedent and example does that set?

Though personally I don't think that the item in question or any other gear in this game really counts as 'lewd', anyway. NPC dialogue, on the other hand...

Men have literally been wearing skirts and dresses forever. Go look at how the Greeks and Romans dressed themselves.

I think comparing a era to a other doesn't work because of you look at those clothing they aren't today or 14 skirt or dress in the slightest. like back then those Roman clothing if you look both at the female and male cloth they are far from being the same

They did not wear a ladies fine sunday dress... its not about normal skirts and all...
