If it's just an animation and doesn't move your character anywhere then it isn't actually a jump and that will turn out to be a very pointless addition to the game. I don't feel that this will be the case.

yoshi said it himself jumping is only there to jump, you wont jump fences , you cant jump out of ifrit plumes, its only there pretty much for the lolz.
If that ends up being true, the people that ACTUALLY wanted jump in the game are gonna throw a fit and Yoshi-P will probably listen to them eventually since hurr we gotta cater to a wider audience because that works so well right?
Seriously if I can't jump a fence why even have it in the game?
I certainly agree with battle and fences, but I find it hard to believe you wont be able to jump some cliffs. We are also taking this from a translated interview. I think it is safe to say we need more info and if Yoshi is adding jump just as an emote then he is basically just adding in a tool for people to troll the anti-jumpers.
Asking for a jump toggle is not restricting the game to anyone.
1. It's not for you to decide where SE's resources should and shouldn't go.*
2. Close-minded? Funny since we're asking for an option, not to force anything down anyone's throats - unlike those that have demanded non-contextual jumping.
Helmets can be taken off in-game.

Whether it'll look ridiculous or not is a red-herring. You won't be using it to begin with.
*This is a suggestion that SE can decide for themselves whether they want to use the resources or not. They don't need to be told how to use their resources, esp. considering the fact they've already wasted the resources to bring you the jump feature in the first place when they could've used far fewer and brought a contextual jumping feature instead!
i know someone was saying Helmets off and on ruined immersion.
Everyone in this thread is now dumber for coming in here.
oh 1 thing that jump was actually going to do was interrupt spell casting apparently.
