Glad at least one person understood.
You act like Yoshida himself is one of the job designers, how is he personally going to order the job design team to make poor decisions if he’s forced to spend a few months in our shoes? Do you think he personally ordered the removal of kaiten or changing trick? Hell, if it was up to him we’d still have enochian on blm.
Except, that is what has happened since the start of Stormblood up until now. All of the healer jobs have been nerfed in their complexity to appeal to people who don't play the job. Sage is just a soft reboot of SCH that is somehow just as limited in complexity as actual SCH.
You kept reinforcing the idea that forcing an individual to play something they're not fond of is not good, which is fair & understandable. The thing is, that's exactly what the dev had been trying to do to us, as represented by those changes/adjustment they've made with the green icons. To add insult to the injury, saying (Paraphrasing caution)"We don't have much to give to healer because we don't think they need anything." is in my opinion, is a mixed display of utter laziness and ignorance considering they have YEARS worth of feedbacks coming from the players who actually love, actively main'ing, and staying as one for a long time. Compare that to most other non-green icons & the most glaring of all: BLM. The difference is as glaring as night and day.
"Well then they have healer tester in their team!"
Yes. They do. And they got replaced for getting 'too good'. The answer to what kind of players those healer changes/adjustments were made for is crystal clear. This role is just greatly misrepresented.
I'm not complaining about any of those other points. Simply the idea that having Yoshida play healer would somehow fix any of that. That's my only qualm. Throwing other things I agree with at me is irrelevant to the point of this thread which is: Somehow if we make Yoshida play healer everything will be fine. Which is a ridiculous, nonsensical premise that I wholeheartedly disagree with.
If you want to suggest better representation of healer mains on the balance team or the testing team, definitely on board. If you want them to have multiple raid teams of different skill levels to ensure a broader testing base, sure. That's reasonable. If you want them to do a better job of at least responding to healer feedback explaining why they don't feel our changes would work, again... on board.
The only thing I am against is the premise of this thread: Make Yoshida play a healer - it'll fix everything.
Fortunately Yoshida isn't the head chef. He's the producer - which is closer to the owner or building manager than it is to the role of head chef. He's not a game designer. He's not a developer. He's not on the design team. He's a producer. Which is a very important role, buti t's a much broader role than a developer. His job is not the day to day game design.
I enjoy how WHM and SGE play currently and would not like to see them change in any significant way, but that's just me.
