Probably because it's fun. It's like a ranged DPS with a dash of caster to plan around - adjusting button order fight-by-fight matters and is enjoyable, but the punishment for mistakes is relatively low. The only reason I'm not maining it anymore is that our static needed a replacement for another DPS player and could only find more summoner mains in our circle of acquaintances. People like the class, even if it could use a touch more spice yet.
