The thing is we’re all paying a sub. When we see the game making more money than ever before, people expect for us to see some upgrades, not see constant downgrades of things. I think the fact so many people have been coming out with threads talking about the downgrade in content or the lack of content is pretty telling. Even in ShB i didn’t really see many posts like that yet there’s posts like that now and they’re pretty well warranted. If you’re fine with getting less then good for you but i’m not really okay with the game getting killed for every dollar but then giving the playerbase its milking less content.

The influx of players was relatively recent....It takes time to make content and EW had long had its budget and dev cycle in place before hand. You wont see any change or increase in the games budget until future updates. Its not an on the fly thing where they can just change or increase things at the drop of the hat. There's also the whole fact that most of the dev team is still working from home and they probably have their own unique protocols to deal with all of that thanks to covid which I'm sure slows down a lot of processes. Remote work flows and doing meetings over video chat is a foreign concept in general to Japanese companies.

The money wasn’t recent though. We had record sales at the start of ShB. Shb also broke player records at the start of shb, we got many more players recently yes, but we had many beforehand. They delayed the game 6-7 months. They stated before the delay, they were working at 90% efficiency. I’m not so inclined to use this as an excuse anymore when we were already seeing less content in ShB before covid was even a thing, and i’m noticing people keep trying to use the same excuses whenever someone makes criticisms. It’s either covid this or soken’s cancer, where in a lot of situations it isn’t even applicable. Someone in this thread alone said that apparently his cancer has to do with us getting less gear sets???

Like I have told you before and I will say it again the money made by game sales and subs does NOT go back into the game the sales from the MOGSTATION does. SE is just like any other company they answer to the share holders and not to the fans/community. Its a miracle Yoshi P has the freedom he does when it comes to giving us SOME of the stuff we have asked for.

So then it’s a budget issue. In which case should we not be advocating for giving the game the increased budget it deserves as opposed to telling off players who are pointing out the noticeable decline in content? If people really did care about the game to defend it so much shouldn’t they be advocating about helping their game grow to what it should?

Correct. We should be advocating for a bigger budget BUT if you didn't know FFXIV 1.0 almost sunk SE as a company like literally bankrupt bad. The share holders I believe took the brunt of that failure and invested even more money into FFXIV which became FFXIV ARR. I don't have the numbers right now but I heard/read that the share holders have just begun making profit off of FFXIV. FFXIV 1.0 was so bad the shareholders were in the red for this investment for so long so I can't really blame them for taking as much profit as possible to recoup what they have lost. So in essence they paid/invested not once but twice into this game.

Now it may seem like I am making excuses but if I was a share holder and I had to invest twice into a project you bet your ass I would be asking for the lions share of the profits.

You know Eureka and Deep Dungeon came in Heavensward when we had more dungeons per patch and didn't have recycled gear in dungeons? Yes that's right, they started releasing less dungeons... and gave us the same type of "side content" at the same rate in return.. yeah great deal.... Meanwhile.. they make some 3-5x more money than they did then.

They're being lazy, and they're basically milking you for money and they aren't going to be your BFFs if you defend them in the forums bud

Eureka came in Stormblood, and every expansion has had recycled gear in some of its dungeons. Half of ARR's endgame dungeons are the same generic gear we got for levelling; Heavensward recycled a lot of ARR sets, reused level 51 gear at 58 and then recycled one of its new level 60 dungeon sets into a second level 60 dungeon set... maybe it's lazy, but they're consistently lazy and the recycling is nothing new, although the lack of shuffling sets makes it more obvious.

Eureka came in stormblood but even then, we got both a deep dungeon and eureka in stormblood so you’d point still stands. 100% agree with you.
