Fix Housing Megathread

If SE isn't going to instance neighborhoods then they need to massively overhaul apartments. I'd rather pay $50M gil for a penthouse apartment than $5M for some stupid shoe box in a corner. Translate S,M,L houses into Middle, Corner and Penthouse apartments and scale that to hundreds of floors.

The current apartment buildings are fictitious anyway... you could theoretically have a neighborhood-wide building with dozens of penthouses.

Otherwise, the current FFXIV housing system is trash. It manages to be worse than EverQuest which is saying something.

I guarantee that if raiders had to stand and spam tap to get into a raid and then possibly lose the ability to get into it until the possibility of another pops up, SE would fix that mess asap because they would lose players en masse. Housing is no different to those that want it as part of their game play experience that THEY PAY FOR..

I think of it like this: Let's say you pay for a seasonal pass to Six flags. Does this mean you are now guaranteed entry into every single ride that Six flags has to offer? and all the food they have for sale, and all of the merchandise? No, it simply give's you a little bit of a leg up with a separate line that *everyone else* who also pays for that seasonal pass is able to use, to get on the rides that you want to get on. Does this mean you won't be able to ever get in? No, it just means that you'll have to wait in line. Sometimes that line is huge, like the lines for REALLY THRILLING rides, that are constantly advertised. And sometimes the line is small, like the lines for merry-go-rounds. But you'll still have access to them all the same, you're just not guaranteed that just because you pay the seasonal pass you'll be able to ride all the rides you want to, every time.

Hehe nice try, no comparison. I'll wait in line for 30 min, I will not wait in line forever on the "chance" that I may get on after fighting with others who are not waiting their turn. This is an MMO, access to content is promised for your monthly fee. Nobody should have to fight others to get a virtual house, nobody. It is not a "BOSS" fight in some dungeon. I won't respond to ludicrous examples again as I have perused your earlier remarks to others but you have a nice day hehe.

And you, technically, don't have to. The only thing a house gives you is access to a bigger garden to crossbreed, and more slots to decorate. You have access to apartments, of which there are 180 per ward (90 per building). That means there are 4320 apartments per ward, and 17280 per server.

And just like waiting in line for 30 minutes, what if that line is long? You may never get to ride that ride you want. Try again when the line is shorter, or maybe when the brand new ride that EVERYONE is waiting at is up, you can just waltz right up to the ride you want and get right in.

They don't want everyone to not be able to have access to housing. Which is why they're adding more wards. But they added apartments because there ARE going to be people without housing - just no one wants to use them because they view them as "less than". Comparable, again, to Six Flags - no one wants to go on the merry go round because it doesnt seem as thrilling, little do they know the joy of a merry go round is comparable to the thrill of the big fast ride. It's just different.

If your only reason for wanting a house is to crossbreed, you should instead be petitioning SE to allow crossbreeding in apartments.

IMO the entire mechanic should be separate from housing to begin with. Like run it through the BTN guild and allow us a public garden that we can rent a space at.
