It turns out Earthly Star is a great spell if you like to scare people.
Pretend you're ignoring their health bars as they all get super low and then explode the thing and everyone's right as rain.

My first attempt at Susano NM and got matched up with dps and another healer who couldn't dodge and a Tank who insisted main tanking over the other more experienced one and he kept turning Susano all over the place........I kept having to use LB3 to revive everybody only for them to all die again. I voted to disband. (Stuck around for a while until, I had other stuff to do).
P.S. Everyone knew the mechanics....
Had a few of these... One yesterday in the lv65 dungeon. He started to do mega pulls at the start so I gave a little head's up and was like "Hey, some of the stuff can hit a little harder so take care with giant pulls." To which I got the DRG saying "Well, heal harder." (Because telling me to heal harder is really going to help shorten my recast/cast times, or make my HoTs tick stronger...) And the tank bitching saying that he didn't have to use so many CDs back in that pull (I hardly saw any go off... oh well).
No one died for sure, but having to mash buttons and just pray that the tank wasn't going to eat a crit wasn't fun; god knows if we'd wiped it'd be my fault.
Tanks aren't the only ones who drive... I think the pt should adjust to its needs, whatever they may be.
For the most part though, parties have been surprisingly cautious which has been nice. Once they get a feel for how much they can handle, I start to see 'em pushing limits a bit more which is nice, instead of having everyone run in panic from the get-go.
ran sirensong for exp and got the densest red mage. second boss used enter night an the rdm just stood there taking the hits and the vuln stacks every single time he had 9 stacks at one point. even sacred soil and a single Target galvanize couldn't save him from bloodburst lol
Difference of playstyle should only be valid if the party attempts to communicate with the 'offending' player first, and work out their differences.
If the differences turn out to not be reconcilable, then a kick may be considered.
Otherwise, it's just a random kick, and should be considered abuse.
Tanks that lose half their max HP during cast timers in doma castle/castrum abania. SPAM CASTING does not even save you when you try pull that giant that is the 3rd? pull of doma with the next group.
Tank trying to Deliverance in mass pulls that no one overgear is just 10/10, talk about stressful healing. I did not see any damage output from it, I do not understand why people try it when kills take so long while the healer keeps draining mp.
PF, not DF.
To celebrate getting to 70, I've been helping random clear groups in the PF. Helped with a few so far. Today I am in a T9, and the group wants a clear, but when we get to meteors, its clear no one knows what they're doing, so I give a quick explanation.
We then get to the heavensfall phase, and people start dying again, I try to give some tips, and there is one person in particular that starts critiquing my tips. I didn't notice till after we wiped and they left though.
I joined to help groups clear, not to teach people that had no idea what they were doing, yet still here I was covering for your sorry self. It said clear group, not learning party.
:P Either way they left, we got more people and cleared like cake~
The number of people doing the last duty of the MSQ without having done their Lv.70 Job Quest is astonishing.
The amount of duty crashes completely brought down the lobby server to the NA/Aether Data Centers. RIP
I got chewed out at the end of my duty for running the entire dungeon without applying poison to my blades as a Ninja.
(Hint: That ability was removed in Stormblood.)
Usualy i am the one that just read about everything thats happening in this thread but today i felt like venting for the first time so let me tell you guys what happend when i tried the shinryu trial for the first time. i main WAR for a pretty long time so i though it was best to do the OT cause we had a PLD at the trial and didn't know anything about how the tank should stack together for 1 ability anyway after trial and error for the 3th time one of the healer starts to jump on me for not knowing or understanding for the mechanics while i clearly stated that i did this trial for the first time at the beginning of the trial. His explaination also didn't make much sense even my brother who was there didn't get his explaination at all. So after the 4th wipe he asks to get kicked from the trial and insults are throwed towards me failing the mechanic's not swearing or anything but just that i should know everything by now in a rude way. anyway the PLD was a real nice guy and agree that the healer should be so rude and angry but in the end the party abadoned.
The second party went much smoother after that and i now finaly realise i should be near the tank at all times except if the chains are on me. So far this was the worst experience i had in a duty finder.
It wasn't realy a long conversation so i let it slide this time but next time i wil think about it. Not sure if it even helped to report there.
Reporting may not get them actioned at this time...
Maybe they'll get a warning.
But, it will be a mark on their record, and future transgressions in the future will be weighed more heavily.
They will learn to behave themselves.
If no one ever reports these people, nothing can get done.
They continue to think they can do whatever they want to others, and other people will end up on the receiving end of their ire.
Reporting problem players reduces the amount of people they can affect with their negativity.
I think the worst I've gotten was...I was tanking Aurum Vale as a WAR, was getting ready for the first pull...I Tomahawk pull the first Nix in there, and I accidentally step too close and also pull the two mushroom mobs on the side. I overpower to get threat on them, and miss one with it, it gets on the pug healer for just a quick second, but I instantly provoked it off them and gain threat on it. All good, right? Apparently not, according to the lalafel white mage. I get accosted suddenly after the pull. "What is threat?" "Didn't know I was gonna be the tank lol" My boyfriend tried to get them to calm down by being silly. The white and black mage (whom I think was with the healer...their names rhymed similarly.) weren't having it. "Shut up. You're not funny." "Can you just do damage." I was livid. I was not about to put up with this rude treatment for an hour. I left dungeon...if they're gonna be hypercritical, elitist jerks, they can do it on their own time, not on mine.
Had a pretty great Susano run yesterday.
The PLD dies very early on so I take over as MT with my WAR. Others die but they get raised and healed. It's not pretty but we're struggling through. Saving LB3 for the healers.
It gets to the part where the three clouds are out and their column aoe completely corners me. My sprint wears midway and I see that I won't make it. I use Holmgang at the last second and manage to save myself. First epic Holmgang of SB. Healers+equilibrium+inner beast+thrill of battle get me to a reasonable hp level.
However, it's all starting to go south. People are getting hit hard. The healers are doing what they can but people are getting low. I get hit especially hard by something and die. I look at the party window and a healer and some dps were also down. Boss is at 1%. The remaining healer uses LB3 just a split second after I die. I get threat back and we finish the fight. A super messy one-shot that felt really good to win through.
First attempt at Shinryu, couple of early wipes as people need to learn mechanics.
We get to below 15% HP on the boss and then, suddenly, no one can seem to stay alive anymore....even with killing the tails.
Dear people in Shinry, when you're chained together please run far apart. Don't stand next to each other x_x. Other than that, you did a good job and we possibly could have cleared it if time had been on our side.
Also please do not move on diamond dust, thanks.
I've got a really thick skin but a guy dropped "don't ever play AST again. Terrible. " after a hectic Susano run the day after EA went live: I still reported him, there's no need for it and people need negative reinforcement to curb their undeserved egos sometimes.
On topic: I've rolled a lala CNJ alt for the new realm bonus stuff, I've enjoyed creeping slow walking towards people during fights doing /laugh (one of the voice sets is horribly creepy.) One guy yesterday promised me his comm if I "spared his first born."
Shout out to my Susano party from last night. You lot were amazing.
We loaded in and apparently we were all new to the fight.
"Well let's just see what he does and take it from there"
Of course it was a wipe but we got into the sword phase.
People were surprisingly positive about it after all the salt I usually see. We exchanged observations we made about the fight, formulated a strategy (turns out we were about 90% right) and went at it again.
We cleared on that second pull after a brief moment of collective panic when the screen went white upon clearing the sword phase.
Instead of immediately fleeing the duty people hung around, shared some last observations about mechanics, mentioned things they particularly liked about the encounter and gave eachother a pat on the back.
That party was the most fun I've had in DF in ages.
Don't remember the name of the level 63 dungeon, but this is where it happened. Leveling roulette picks this place for my daily, and it's only my 2nd run there. So I'm still a bit new. I must have been teamed up with a premade of at least 2, because I don't think this would have happened otherwise. And surprisingly, no swearing from either side.
After my 2nd or 3rd pull:
Dude pull more
Me: It's only my 2nd time here. I'll pull what I'm comfortable with. No
You're a garbage tank
Me: You're a garbage human being
You have been removed from the instance.
Oh well. I'll just instant queue again. Though admittedly I'm a little upset about this wondering if I actually did anything wrong.
I ran Castrum earlier with my FC. 5 of the slots were us so we screwed around a little during the run. Someone comm'd me for being on gpose for 2 boss fights.
I have a good one!
Earlier I queued for Ala Mhigo for my first time. Both DPS die on the 2nd boss (I am sure you can figure out where, lol). One snarks "nice healing", but I decide to just ignore it and res them. As soon as loot is handed out, I am kicked. I had a good laugh then had some dinner. Got back a little bit ago and queued again, people actually did the mechanics and miraculously did not die. :P Got 3 commendations out of it too, so nice healing? You bet. :)
Had something similar happen in the Shinryu battle. First time in there, people falling off, standing in things, zero explanations despite having folks that seem to have cleared it before in the group, hard casting raise on the other healer mid fight...I'm called out for doing too much dps (admittedly I did some dps the first couple attempts and realized pretty quick that was not a good idea), not healing enough, and being a bad. Group disbands. Next group, everyone takes time, figures out the mechanics, dies a whole lot less, and I walk out with four comms. Moral of the story if someone is learning the fight you're not going to get peak performance until they figure out when the best use of their cooldowns is. Am I awesome, no. Am I a little undergeared, it would seem so. But was I the sole cause of that group's issues, not a chance.
The runs I've done in Stormblood so far have had nice people. I was able to run The Sirensong Sea, Shisui of the Violent Tides, and Susanoo during early access where people seemed very patient and polite. Given that we were almost unanimously new that made sense. Didn't get to Bardam’s Mettle until today. The group was still patient and helpful, but on the last boss I came away looking stupid.
The first two tries I got knocked back as the healer and died during the AoE storm because I couldn't go directly back into the middle due to other mechanics. Plus, I had trouble seeing when the boss flashed the eye warning unlike other dungeons like Shisui. Fortunately the damage received was light so no real consequence. I wasn't mocked or yelled at, and was given advice in the nicest way possible, which I appreciated, but I type slow and was too busy healing to say anything during the fights.
So, anyway, it reminded me that even when people know what to do they sometimes have trouble doing it in some situations, and I'm glad to see people are still polite and helpful even if you appear to be clueless or careless.
I tried to run trials twice today the first time I got Susano cool I enjoy the fight nice and easy simple mechanics. All the dps were new and that's totally fine of course I don't mind new people ! But all four of these dps I don't understand what was going on but their were some deaths the first go and also a wipe because there just wasn't enough dps on the sword phase. The thing that irked me on the first phase however was that I saw 2 of the dps just standing their doing nothing. After the second try I left because their was zero way it was gonna happen because Susanos health wasn't even near 50%
The second trial was steps! and early on*Mind you two people were new or 3 one might have been a jumper* And they didn't focus vishaps? They were legit just killing adds hitting vishaps for maybe 30 seconds then hitting adds again,I tried to tell them to focus le big dragon but the 2 times we did it we barely got him to 60%.
:3 After getting my DRG to 70 and through the MSQ, I decided I would focus on SCH, which I am having a bit of a hard time with I admit, but I came to love SCH by the end of HW and I wanted to keep up with it in SB too.
So I've been chain running Bardam's Mettle, which has been a learning experience for sure, but twice now I've walked out with all three comms so, I must be doing it right.
I had a great time in there, its one of my favorite dungeons of 4.0 thus far, and I'm happy I've jumped in as a healer.
Thank you to the wonderful groups I've had :3
Dear warriors who keep clemencing yourselves when I put a heal up that heals you below a certain percentage, please stop doing that. I won't let you die. Also my Shadow Flare doesn't hurt you.
Kind regards,
Scholar
Had a super fun Susano run last night! ^^
Went with 3 FC members (I was SCH, 2 were tanks and 1 DPS who we were getting the clear for so he could continue MSQ).
We wipe cus one of my tank friends didn't realise he had to take the orbs XD (and the white mage DC'd before this T.T).
My friends ask if they should pull (after we kick the DC'd member) and I just kinda say..'..sure?' I make sure to switch esuna out for Divine Seal before we go in and between 1 friend Covering the mt and me actually (for once XD) using my CDs and Eos properly, we make it! ^^ Also, we finally got another healer at about 2% XD well, they got an easy clear at least. It was super tough but super fun!! I wish I got the opportunity to solo heal more content tbh cus even though it's stressful, it's great ^^ I did accidentally run OoM at one point cus i raised someone without thinking lolz but i did have a few CDs spare.
I left with 1 comm which was gutting but i loved the run anyways!
Thanks to the team, you all did your jobs really well and dodged basically everything (i really needed them too XD)!
You did nothing wrong, just unlucky :(
I had a tank last night who would call out beforehand that they were doing a big pull or which way they were going. As a healer, I really appreciated and made sure to let them know that, especially since the SAM dps (other dps was my bf) kept telling them off for communicating too much :|
People complain about the DPS queues wondering why there aren't enough tanks in df. Well, your story is a perfect example. I suspect a LOT of tanks don't run much in df, they run with a group of friends simply because of how toxic df can be. (I say can be because i'd say it's only 1 or 2/10 dungeons where I get someone a bit off or really nasty, we gotta stay positive :P)
Ps. The level 63 dungeon is Shisui of the Violet tides I believe. With a good group you'll have a lot of fun there!
Dzemael, with a tank that focuses on single targets and can't hold aggro, a monk that doesn't even bother with positionals, and a healer that, bless her for being helpful and supportive of the newbies, but also never bothered to raise the monk when he died to trash.
Nobody deserved a commendation for that run.
It's not really a story, but it's starting bug me how little most of the DPS I've run into understand the concept of "focus fire", and will both go after completely different targets from me/each other, which makes holding aggro a pain (Especially with the sheer burst damage RDM and SAM put out).
Heck, one time, the healer was getting sick of it too and started marking things for them, but they still insisted on attacking whatever.
Did Bardaams Mettle yesterday for the first time, lovely group overall but the first pull kinda took 10 years off my life span. Standard affair, spawn with aoe classes, tank does large pull, unfortunately DPS in Bardaams from the monsters is INSANE, WAR tank dropping faster than I can heal, both me and the tank are frantically popping every single CD available to us, Im spamming cure II hoping that I can heal faster than the dmg is being dealt. The DPS finish everything off, I collapse out of my chair with 500 ish MP to my name, I then type in chat "maybe small pulls" tank replies with "yeah D:".
This happened to me yesterday, I went in levelling roulette wit my sister and we got Haukke Manor with two first timers. I explained the mechanics to them but when we got to the 2nd boss, I marked the targets as 1 and 2 and the other dps, an archer while I was bard, insisted on fighting target number 2 even though I said focus 1. I even clicked the 2nd target as target to ignore and he still persisted.
I ran into Susano HM last night while doing Trial DR on my White Mage. I like the fight a lot so I'll be sad once it gets to a point where it won't pop too often due to everyone having cleared the hurdle.
Got paired with a WHM who opened up with "Hello noobs". A SAM in the party replied with "Hello trashy healer" which got a reply of "<3". I see it's gonna be one of those kinds of runs.
Well, the SAM wasn't really wrong about the "trashy healer" part to be honest. I didn't see the WHM use any of their DPS spells, always seemed to be using Cure II to heal the tank (I guess to fish for Lilies?), never consistently kept Regen on the tank, always reacted to damage after it went out instead of pre-casting heals for telegraphed casts/attacks, and generally speaking always seemed to have less MP than myself despite contributing both DPS and healing to the party. Oh, and then they died at around the 20% HP mark of Susano.
This was more amusing than irksome though. I find the fight enjoyable to heal even when everything goes south in a hurry and it's always fun to see how much one can push the healing kit in XIV since smooth runs = less healing requirements.
I'm leveling AST on an alt in POTD, which is boring but I can deal with it. But what I can't deal with are healers who are now refusing to dps. 2 times I've queued up for the same POTD floor and left with a 30 minute penalty. The first time, I left on the first floor because the healer wasn't throwing out any dps. Just curing when people were full. The second time, the healer only tossed out a stone 2 on an enemy then used medica for the rest. I don't understand why they weren't dpsing? POTD is kind of easy. You don't need to heal every booboo if you just help kill the enemy, it's less damage for the people getting hit.
