See, here's where people are disconnected that I can see where del is coming from. What if you didn't level BLM or BRD and you wanted to fight this, they seen the win used a class stack and you don't have it..guess who is now locked out of content because they're new to the game and only have 1 50 that isn't the preferred class? Or they want to use their favorite class/job in the fight and not allowed to because the leader rather go with the "winning" setup?

Guess what is less likely to be welcoming in shout PUGs? Are people going to try the preferred, efficent way of stacking, or are they going to try varying strategies that haven't been proven to be a winning setup yet? This is using your head. Right nor wrong is either side of the fence, however being real about the situation, you are far more likely to see BLM/BRD(ARC) setups happening than anything else now.

So in terms of butthurt and jealousy, I've yet to see it honestly. For example in DH people say a melee setup will be utterly raped by ogre..this isn't true, we did it with zero ranged attacks back in the day and only a brd recently for magi..no one got utterly raped. The thing is, people have a huge sheep mentality in MMOs, especially when said strategy is romanticized over youtube or the game's forums..so whether or not multiple strategies can work is irrelevant when it's much more likely that people will go with the "sure fire way" as seen with pretty much any and every MMO.

So again, no one is in the wrong for what they believe in, but we have to face facts, it's much more likely we'll see BLM/BRD setups being the preferred way of doing it.

So what if we did it with all melee the first time? Then the people who only had ranged dd or DoM would be excluded in the community because it was killed with melee the first time. See the flaw in your reasoning? You're basing your point on the belief that everyone in the community is just a sheep baaaahing around because they are too casual/noob/lazy to think on their own. Stop thinking that way and then maybe you will get somewhere where you can enjoy a boss fight in this game - don't blame it on us for enjoying the way we did it.

No, you got the point exactly lol. People who haven't beat it yet almost always look for strategies that is proven to win, if you beat it with a melee setup and excluded ranged DD, that's exactly what people would do. Remember ifrit fight? How it was mostly a 'lancer fight', then all of a sudden it turned into a THM/BLM fight because it was 'the most efficient way to beat it'?

This is why I said neither side is right or wrong, it's just how MMO communities are.

I agree with you, I just think there alot paranoid right now about everyone just sticking to "xxx only" for this battle.

I have yet to try hard mode but will be disappointed in the community in general if it turns out this way again instead of trying to figure out other methods.

exactly. it's just like the mistress in av. first video showed mnk only even though there was a video that showed other methods. it's the blame of the community for following like sheep and not the fault of the groups that took the time to figure out what works best for them.

I just don't buy the whole, "I don't wanna play x class, I leveled y class it's my favorite and I should be able to use it" thing. Sure, you may enjoy playing one class more than another, but to not want to play the other classes at all? I've seen this reasoning applied in multiple end game content scenarios across many MMOs, and I've never found the feeling to be true for myself. I enjoy playing caster/magi/wizard classes more than others, but I still enjoy playing the other classes.

Now, I can only guess, but I think that the most likely truth is that players simply don't want to put in the effort to level another class to 50 once they've discovered that their first one was sub-optimal. Not that they wouldn't enjoy doing high end content once that character was capable of it.

After all, the thrill of high end content comes from that feeling at the end, of overcoming a challenge as a team, and that feeling just before the end where you know you're close but not quite a guarantee, and your adrenaline is pumping.

The exact method in which you reach these points is negligible.

Well you are different than others. I only enjoy playing lnc, and recently arc. I have no desire to play anything else. I'd rather master two classes than try and learn all of them. I much prefer finding something i like and getting to know it intimately.


EDIT: as for the topic, im convinced ppl are trolling. Melees do very well on Garuda, the only reason BG did what BG did was because those were the roles that worked best for their players. You know how many blm/brd/war stacked parties I saw wipe at even easy Garuda? Quite a few. Its sad. The mistake ppl are going to make is that they'll play too conservatively. From waht ive experienced one whm is more than enough. Outside of gimmicks like AV with the poison, you wont need more than 1 whm for much of anything.

Next, Garuda is very melee dps friendly. Its not like Ifrit who 360 aoes every 3 seconds. Garuda is pretty kind....at least until she goes berserk. After that you just gotta kill her before you all get killed. 2 whms, 3 whms, that shit cannot be outhealed. She will fuck your shit up unless you are hyper offensive.

Honestly, I think the one WHM made more of a difference than having 3 blms or 2 wars. You could have easily substitued a war out for any other melee dps and probably get the same results...assuming that player was comfortable in another role. You could easily switch one blm to another dps and probably get the same results as well, assuming again that player was comfortable in another role.

I'm sure when BG is back at it, they will find that they can successfully do a lot of different setups. That is just what happened to work the first time, calm the f down.

Yep, I agree, but everyone is different, and does everything differently.. its just when something first comes out and the content doesn't allow you to do it because of a certain set-up, then you have to wait 2 weeks to a month before getting a chance to do it. Thats my 1 and only gripe with class-stacking or a certain set up.
