I decide to go as NIN to Doom Scaith for once, and I die tanking the boss because three tanks aren't capable of keep the aggro for longer than a minute.
Thanks SE for not adding more tanks to SB.

Just a quick thank you for this! I have no idea how to right click on ps4 unless I get my wireless mouse out and that can be a pain mid run. Plus the mouse/touchpad on the controller is so finicky... Just wish i'd known this when I was actively tanking >.< but will be adding for future :D
I have macro's on all my songs (they're gonna need changing come Stormblood... great, oh well). But it announces on my Ballad/Paeon macros that I incur a 10% damage penalty on myself. Foes announces that I have no damage penalty. When used it gives a quick overview of what the song is doing so they know what to expect. Lemme post it in 3 code blocks.
Ballad:
Paeon:Code:/macroicon "Mage's Ballad"
/ac "Mage's Ballad"
/em bursts into song, filling the airwaves with magical regeneration
/wait 3
/p Playing Mage's Ballad - Restoring party's MP - 10% DPS penalty in effect on self.
Requiem:Code:/macroicon "Army's Paeon"
/ac "Army's Paeon"
/em bursts into song, revitalising her comrades
/wait 3
/p Playing Army's Paeon - Restoring party's TP - 10% DPS penalty in effect on self.
Simple, effective, with a little fun wrapped in them through custom emotes. No obnoxious sound effects either (for something I'm possibly going to be using quite often I don't like to announce it. I believe the only 2 I use sound effects for are resurrection, and Hallowed Ground. Even then I could possibly curb the sound effect from the latter).Code:/macroicon "Foe Requiem"
/ac "Foe Requiem"
/em bursts into song, darkening the very aether around her.
/wait 3
/p Playing Foe Requiem- Reducing magic resistance of nearby enemies! No DPS penalty on me.
Shields aren't such an issue as they're not generating aggro over time. It's just heal over times that generate aggro so yeah, no need to clear the shields.
Joined what clearly proclaimed itself to be a WT party for Titan EX in PF. Turns out there's a freeloading level 58 BLM who needs a clear. Of course.
Leech BLM falls off and dies to the first Geocrush. Of course.
Leech BLM stays dead for the remainder of the fight while everyone else finishes the fight. OF COURSE.
Leech BLM takes the earrings that drop for themselves, which they did nothing to earn, as well as the Crag Heart. OF. COURSE.
I hate people.
GGL as DRK.
Q'd w/ MCH bud. Not my first run.
Healer complained that I was only pulling 1 group. So I pulled the next 2 groups. Popped ALL of my CDs, no heal, died.
She starts insulting my ilvl. I just came back from an 8 month break. I explain this. The whole point is to get better gear.
She flamed me for losing aggro <10s on the first boss to a BRD. The BRD defended me. He "popped all his CDs & didn't wait". The next trash pull she tells me to use tank CDs for trash or she's going to "hope Eos" doesn't let me die. I said if she lets me die we ALL have to wait, so there's no point in refusing to heal.
At this point my quiet friend piped up insulting her, saying that the way she acts there must be nobody that loves her(lol). She says she has a boyfriend, then insults his DPS.
At this point I was done. I vote kicked her. We had 50% so she was gone. The bard after about 30s said "sorry" and left. It was her boyfriend. LMAO
Sophia normal mode
Me (whm) : raise cohealer
Cohealer (whm): raise smn to help raise the 2 other dps still down after swimming in frosty patch and running away from their color complement debuff
Me : smn raise please ^^
Smn : raise ?
Me : revive
Smn : fuck me
Me : no ty
I confess i acted like a jerk and stop caring about that fight after that exchange, tho the cohealer is a friend and i knew she could go through
My main dps is smn and i died a little bit inside but not before being absolutely furious about it ... i still is
It was a few months ago. Quite a bit of time before Baelsar's Wall, so I can't remember her name. I just remember her being extremely toxic, and her boyfriend seemed like the passive type (though he'd have to be to be dating her). Both her and her boyfriend were Miqo'te... but that's like finding a needle in a haystack.
To be fair, I have lots of jobs like this currently which are level 60 with 260ish gear that I didn't play past hitting 60. I've run out of stuff to spend scripture on for my mains so I just dump points into shire gear for the alts every time I come close to capping it. That said, I leveled all of them the old fashioned way through dungeons so I have an inkling of what their abilities do, but I could see someone who ran potd to level them ending up in that situation you described.
That is an explantion, not an excuse - its even an explantion I'm aware off and by now it shouldnt surprise me anymore, yet it does every time... how someone can actually be so blind about some core mechanics within a job they got to 60 somehow. But I'm also well aware that I'm judging people by the standards I'm inflicting on myself and that those might be to "high" for someone who doesnt like to pay attention at all... I've got all classes at 60 and I'm hardly any good at the melee-jobs, but I still know how they work, just to untalented to execute that properly. (But thats probably a topic for a different thread - just wanted to say that in my book I dont care how someone reached level 60, I expect them to have a basic understanding of that class at that point. And now I'm realising that thats most likely the reason the game has become so frustrating to me...)
Interesting Baelsar's Wal I had today.
Got in in-progress through ex roulette to replace a dps who went afk or something.
Full group of first timers, who were actually eager to get advice on the bosses. *crying tears of joy*
Sure, there were some mishaps, like the DRK blowing up on the second boss (I forgot to mention the bomb triggers from auto attacks too), or me pulling aggro on the last boss and dying to a tankbuster (can't blame the tank, I was like 50 ilevels above him, and I rip stuff off tanks who're just a few levels behind), but the whole group was SO FUN to play with! WHM picked me up off the floor ASAP even without swiftcast, and no wipes or anything like that either. They took to the directions I gave like I've never seen, and gave light-hearted banter here and there, and even thanked me for the advice at the end.
I'm so proud of those 3. TvT
Yeah, that's roughly around the time I had that run in with the SCH. I remember her because she doesn't really help with DPS check, and she calls out on the two DPS for their rotation/dying on some mechanic. Buuut in my run, the sch didn't have her boyfriend since I que'd with two friends who were both new to the run.
To the tank that dropped instantly from the Sophia trial roulette just now, and the 2 dps who almost immediately followed. Sucks to be you. We waited all of about 15s for 2 replacement dps and beat the fight super fast with just the one tank since that's all you need. Well... I suppose we technically completed it with two tanks, since one joined at about 3% and got a free clear. Toodles. :D
Please for the love of all that is holy, CHECK EXACTLY WHO IS BEING KICKED BEFORE PRESSING THAT 'YES' BUTTON. I was in a Dun Scaith about half an hour ago where there was someone that disconnected at the first boss, and we didn't get to initiate a vote kick to boot him out until after the second boss because we were still rolling on loot from the first boss.
Except I got dismissed first, likely 100% by accident.
The kicker? I was literally the top DPS in the entire alliance by about 300+ DPS, and even worse, I was the only Bard in an alliance that had five casters, not even counting the DPSing healers.
I'm not too miffed though, I didn't need anything from the run and I only really queue into Dun Scaith for fun, I really enjoy this game's 24-man raids. Don't judge me. >_>
If people can't be bothered to look at the in-game tool-tips for skills that they will be using in various fights for hours on end, what makes you think they'll bother to look at the names of some random schmoes they'll only be playing with for an hour, at the absolute maximum?
Some people also believe that doing 180 potency per GCD is better than doing 200-500 potency. It was this that made me realise just how low my expectations for people's intelligence are.
I was pointing out the fact that they most likely fell off entirely on purpose, so that they wouldn't have to do anything, even if they actually wanted to contribute. How do you clear Titan normal AND Hard, and still have no idea how to dodge Geocrush? Also, I have no idea by what you mean by "can't revive in the middle of a primal fight", because that's pretty blatantly untrue.
So yesterday I was helping out a friend with leveling Rogue up to 30 (she wants to try ninja). I was using Scholar because, I'll admit, I was being lazy and Eos can handle all the healing pre-30 anyways.
We landed in Toto-Rak with an inexperienced Paladin and a really new THM.
So, we were doing the usual pulls and I noticed stuff is dying slower than I'm used to with the current party set-up. I noticed that the THM was alternating between casting Fire and Blizzard. I pointed this out and quickly explained the most basic rotation for THM's (Fire until you run dry, Transpose, Blizzard until you're filled up, Transpose...). He was genuinely surprised about it being more damaging, as he thought Fire -> Blizzard -> Fire was the way to properly do things.
Things went more smoothly, with the THM using the rotation I suggested. He asked for more pointers too, as I said I used to main BLM. I told him to review the tooltips for his skills after the run, since that could never hurt.
It's REALLY refreshing to see someone receptive to advice, and not encounter someone that instantly jumps down your throat if they even *think* you're critisizing them. I've seen so many of them, to the point I took off my mentor crown because I just cbb anymore. Only when people seem new and are relatively chatty will I even bother >_>
Got a dude in PotD earlier who would pop rage poms, punch things until the portal opened, and then just sat on the portal doing nothing while there were still monsters everywhere. Like, sitting right in front of us with the manticore still active watching us kill things so we can leave.
Needless to say we kicked him on floor 58.
Haven't posted in a while so 3 mini stories, good, bad and my bad >.< lol. One mini goal I set myself before Stormblood was to at least have all my jobs unlocked, so have been levelling ones i'm not great with! Plus side all combat jobs are now at least 30 so that's one goal down. Now just another 7mil at least to make/save and hopefully finally get an FC house in Shirogane >.<
1. Halatali, newbie tank, did some general explaining for them and tried my best to not rip hate from them (I was levelling pugilist at the time) or run it over to them if I did. Went lovely & smoothly, right at the end they stuck around to /pray to me and say thank you ^^ (I'm gonna keep this one in mind from now on when people are crappy lol)
2. Halatali again, another newbie tank having issues keeping aggro, but this time with a dps and a healer who were doing their best to make it awkward for them. Medicas all over the place, other dps attacking before tank had had chance to attack or even flash etc etc. Tried to give hints to tank (had no acc equipped at all :|) and ask the dps/healer to not use medica when a cure would suffice/attack random targets or attack first. They started going on in the chat about how the tank had "had enough chances already" "needs to learn their job" and it was like.. um.. yeah... they're learning and you act like this!? >.<
3. Now this one i'm not proud of at all... I was feeling down after a few crappy runs so thought i'd do one more since that was all I needed to get PGL to 30, unlock MNK and be done for the night. Loaded into Hakkuke NM and went through it as usual, got to first door and was on auto-pilot so ran up to the boss door and waited... and waited... oh wait no ok they're going up the hallway and doing that bit.
Oh... kay... exp is negligible so I don't usually bother. By the time i'd noticed they were pretty much done anyway so just waited, threw away some crap i'd accumulated up until then.
While i'm sorting my inv, tank: "LOL mentor..." just like oh... Should have removed my crown. Was not in the mood for this. Yeah, totally my bad, but out of the crazy amount of times I've run Hakkuke now i've only had 2/3 occasions of people wanting to clear the whole place out... so, I ignored it and just carried on.
The tank goes a bit passive aggressive and ran the rest of the place so slowly I contemplated taking the penalty and just leaving if I hit 30. Definitely should have logged off or at least removed my crown before that run :'( I don't wanna give mentors a bad name! I try my best the majority of the time. We just all have our off days
[Edit] To try to not be too negative, remembered another couple of positive runs to add ^^
2x runs of Sohm Al HM, 1st I was running as my BRD, I played Foes as often as possible (as I usually do) and the healer was beside themselves that I was singing for them lol (I can't remember now but I think the other DPS was melee, so I was only singing it for the healer :P). 2nd run I was WHM with SMN & BLM (I think) and it was seriously the fastest i've ever seen that dungeon done. And the tank was superb and so polite :D I'd never even thought to use caster LB on last boss to instantly take down the 4 adds that spawn and can cope without it being done, but it was definitely nice to have that extra time to dps.
Stone Vigil run with a new PLD partnered with a mentor WHM (I assume) and a MNK. Mostly a fine smooth run, no big issues. But would've liked the chance to suggest PLD work in a few more Flashes, or at least rotate hits on all mobs. Couldn't quite go ham on the Fire II without ripping aggro on everything tank wasn't focused on.
I was mostly mindful of enmity and only pulled a few times, but, progressing forward, if you're out there PLD, not everyone will be so content to hold back their AoE.
Sigh. And here I had a BLM yesterday in lvl 60 Roulette who would keep spamming Fire III on a single target when theres multiple to hit.
Told him Fire II was AoE and more helpful and that Fire III isnt even meant to be spammed. He then replied "NICE TO KNOW"
So I said "well, then maybe try it?" and he replied back "UHMMMMM, NOPE"
That guy did 500 dps. I was gonna do a votekick but I saw that all 3 of them were german,so I assumed they queued up together, so I just left instead.
Honestly, I am so ashamed of my own people. I am german myself but the german online community (doesnt even matter if WoW or FFXIV) is not only toxic and rude af, theyre the worst players around.
People on EU make fun of french players, but germans are ten times worse. Ugh. I've just seen SO MANY COUNTLESS bad apples of them.
Had the best kind of Frontlines win earlier while farming wins for PvP mounts (Garo and non-Garo). The other two GCs completely ignored the ice, and just killed each other. And the one I had freelanced in was just like "lol okay", focused down ice while landing a few KOs, and won by a landslide. It was stupidly amazing.
Mog EX unsynched
We're putzing along, but the party accidentally triggers the DPS check at around 50% health. We beat it down as best we can, but it goes off leaving only the tanks alive: a PLD and WAR. WAR was able to recover his health, but PLD had no such luck and died on the 2nd attack. The WAR is left to solo the last 20% or so. He gets 2 more big attacks, but was able to fully recover each time, securing the victory.
I wish crafters and gathers had a duty finder thing
You mean... like Diadem? Which makes it terribly annyoing to gather stuff because you cant just do it on your own but are either waiting for a queue or need to have company-airships ready?
I mean this is very, very offtopic right now (if you're serious you might want to open a new thread making this suggestion) and as much as I would love to be able to gather in some of the dungeons (Brayflox looks PERFECT for my botanist, WP even has a boat for my fisher and Copperbell is literally a mine, like in "miner") I cant see what a DF for gathering and crafting would add to the game - besides maybe more funny stories in here, because DF actually makes people work together why gatherin/crafting are extremly solo-focused activities...
I do that when I'm on summoner! It's very nice and convenient, especially since that one spawns two borehole scorpions and normally the boss is down before the third set of adds spawns.
The other night I was super sad and my friends dragged me into roulettes with them to cheer me up a little, and since Ex Roulette for me is just Sohm Al Hard: The Reckoning, well guess where we were. Now, I've got a bad flying insect phobia, and in the middle of the last pulls before the final boss, a goddamn moth flies into my face and has me autorunning into an invisible wall for a couple seconds while I'm desperately trying to get rid of that thing, crying all over again.
Sounds pretty dumb when you say 'SORRY, MOTH IN FACE' while your friends are healing/tanking/laughing and that other summoner probably thinks "what the fresh hell is wrong with that woman", but lemme tell ya,
I slapped that moth-ery hellspawn right onto my bed and clapped it dead before my stacks fell off. Helped take down mobs again after that minor panic. I just wish I knew why all insects that enter this house always end up in my room.
I only just started playing again maybe 2-3 days ago so decided to try some EXT practice parties to refresh my memory. First group was for the newest primal and I eventually got kicked without reason (thank god, because they couldn't get past the sandwich/pizza phase in the eight or nine times we wiped.) So much for 'training' when no one would say anything during the fight for mechanics, lol... Though, tbh, I should have known it would not go well when I found out they were Germans and French players, haha...
Second group I got was for Nidhogg, and I remember this fight fairly well but needed a refresher. I can openly say I did not miss having to work with morons like this;

Ninjas have a rotation, for christ sake it's built into the game to teach you to do your rotation from level freaking four or six...
I wont even go into the torture of trying to do the Dun raid and the WC raid because it's just the usual crap you have to endure, imo...
Just to double down on this... as I was also in that NidEx group (and almost dropped my face into my desk in shock). Here's a more complete version. The names of the rest of the party I'm in are taken about because we took this screenshot afterwards. The NIN that made my jaw drop is in green, the other NIN in red.

Yeah, I was like "Holy smoke..."
Ok, I am WHOLLY to blame for her referring to the different types of soar as sandwich (where they're all stacked together next to each other) and pizza (where everyone has their own triangle to stand in)... since that was how I pointed out which soar is which.Quote:
(thank god, because they couldn't get past the sandwich/pizza phase in the eight or nine times we wiped.)
I love you.
As a french player i've been called out a lot for being an "elitist a-hole" when i ask people to wake up and not being lazy.
The worst thing in EU imo are the german players, most of them don't really bother talking english in party chat so you end up spammed with german language you can't understand.
Well, that's when they're talking, cause most of them ain't polite/talking/responding.
Disable the "D" research years ago but still got some to remind me my wise choice !
i even disabled the "D" on my own profile to stay undercover lol...cos otherwise they will randomly start insulting you if they dont like something (new tank pulling half the dungeon, not using a single cd,dying and the flaming then healer),
but only if they see youre german too. Cos they cant speak english.
They also seem to have a thing with wanting to get rid of you just before the last boss by votekicking you (happened several times to me lately, and its really definitely not me...its just them not knowing wtf theyre doing
and them thinking im not doing my job >_>).
However, there are many bad french players. What I noticed is that they are OVERLY careful at any given moment.
And many times, they dont speak english either. But I do speak a little french and I sometimes try to communicate on a basic level.
Still, I have seen many decent french players lately also, and they were friendly, and Id take them any day over germans.
disabling the "D" on DF wont help though, because they enable "E" and so do you, I suppose. So youre gonna get them from time to time.
stuck with an awful group all the way to last boss of sohm al, keep wiping because bard doing 700 dps wont switch to adds. i am not doing amazing dps myself as i am gearing up and working out some of the little nuances as id just hit 60 but at least mine was above 1k
anyway we wipe a few times and this guy asks me why im using foes and casts vote abandon after i say "because it's free damage". probably why he's doing 700 dps since he obviously can't read. but i guess i shouldn't have been surprised; most bard players are about as useful as a pair of keys wedged between the console and the seat of your locked car. like seriously id fight another bard to to kick them out of party and loser takes 30m debuff and gets replaced with dragoon because id probably beat 60% of bard players blindfolded with one arm tied behind my back lol
but just an awful experience really. i don't get the point of vote abandon... plenty of people are willing to pick up a dung on final boss. instead everyone who wants to finish is forced to leave as well just because one guy doesnt want a 30m lockout. stupid as hell.
So... am trying not to be melodramatic but almost cried watching the WHM changes yesterday lol. On a positive note thought i'd give AST a proper try again and i'm enjoying it.
However... I was doing levelling roulette so synced down for 2 or 3 dungeons in a row to a point where I couldn't use cards. Then I went into cutters cry... and totally forgot about cards for a good 1/2 the dungeon D:
Luckily I realised, said sorry to pt (who I then got to talking with about the new hairstyle/was AST fun/two of us used to play ESO/how it was playing on ps4 & with a controller etc) and started chucking them out lol.
/grovel
Did an expert's roulette where I stated I was practicing for Stormblood, then proceeded to only ever spam cure and cure 2 while weaving in tetra, assize, asylum, and presence of mind. Kinda disappointed nobody called me out on my bullshit, even when I was doing stuff like dropping a tetra on the tank when they had full health.
did DD with a SMN who would only Blizzard 2 in mobs.......
Longest dungeon........
Ever....
Please don't be an "Ice Mage" T.T I don't speed run dungeons often, but....it should not take over 30 minutes to complete.......
