We were in a CT run, myself as a SCH and the other a WHM. Due to a crappy tank and weak dps (they all met the ilvl req for CT at a minimum, some wearing white acc still), we wiped 4 times on the boss with 3 paths. Had to get a BLM from another group to come help us with the DPS.
As a result, after the 3 wipes there, dying a couple times in other places because tanks couldn't keep aggro, myself and the WHM had busted gear. By Behemoth, half my gear was broke and the WHM was hanging on to only a ring.
The entire Behemoth fight I was spamming succor and physic, popping CDs as soon as they came, healing for 400-500 a pop, and the WHM was healing like a lvl5 conj. Two to three of the party were down half the time (WHM was doing the raising and stoneskins), and the rest were hanging on by about 30% hp.
It was a stressful fight, I was running low on mp most of it, and couldn't heal for crap, yet somehow we managed to avoid a complete party wipe. To top it off, another squad lost both of their healers early fight (DC, one second they were there the next two healers are gone), so the other squad was healing both parties.

It was an insane fight that left everything breathing a sigh of relief when we finally made it.

Have you ever been in a party where nothing seemed to go right and you felt like it was your fault, even though it wasn't?

Titan HM. Every time. It took me a full 3 days to get through it with my FC and most of them having ilvl90s at least. It just didn't seem to go right at all.

Don't worry - I STILL have major issues with Titan HM, so you're not alone.
Like, super major. Feeling like I'm playing with half a brain kind of major... and then getting idiotic, 12-year old snob PUG crap from it. I'm actually a little glad I'm not the only one... x.x;

I used to think Ultima HM was my horror story - but as of recent I will take Ultima HM over Titan HM any day. I apparently have far less trouble with it >.>

I had run it so many times that by the time it hits, it's just auto-pilot for me. The first time I beat it - there was a certain point I always died at and when I didn't that last time, I didn't know what to do D: But it ended up being myself and a tank til the last 15% or so, then the 3LB hit and I rezzed everyone. It was pretty epic. (No Swiftcast on my WHM so rezzing before wasn't an option.)

Well, I kinda how two that really sticks with me as "Please never again..."

1st one was the bad bad run. Qarn...it was my 2nd time running it. Our tank was pulling like 3 or 4 mob groups each chance he got. He was keeping hate, but taking too much damage for me to cure. At one point, my mp was at 0 and if I hadn't leveled up at that second, we'ld have wiped while fighting mobs. MOBS. He was all "Your heals are too weak. Worst WHM I've ever run with" I was so tempted to just leave but I felt bad leaving the DPS behind...

2nd was actually kinda fun. It was Qarn again. At the very beginning. The tank looked at everyone then logged out. Not a word. He checked our gear and ditched....Leaving me, a THM and an ARC. So, We stood there for a sec to see if a new tank was going to pop up. None did and as we were about to abandon I was like "Screw them. I'll do it!" So the three of us did the run and completed it. At the end we had a small little party in the boss arena and than parted ways.

You should nab it when you can - it makes life so much nicer... except when you wish you could just do it over and over again without the cool down... and feeling bad for the people just laying there, waiting their turn like, "But what about me? ;-;" xD;

Don't worry, Ultima HM is a bit of a freak of nature - everyone has problems with it :D It took my FC and myself quite a while, also

Uh. There's a point at which you really should just switch out of your spiritbonding gear.

Had a scholar in ifrit hard mode who camped clerics stance until me and a smn dps called her out on it continually and eventually wiped.

The tanks were both in front of ifrit and were taking a 1/4 to 1/2 hp of damage with his fire breath.

Because of this I had to cure 2 spam from the very beginning.

After the nails I was running dry on mp because of the large amount of medica and cure spam I had to do to keep people alive that we wiped, me and the summoner started shouting at the scholar who up until that point was totally ignoring me in chat about clerics, she then replied with: "you are solo healing lol". At that point I was completely stressed out but she EVENTUALLY took off clerics.

Sadly her pet kept dying and I still had to spam heal everyone, thanks to the summoner for ressing me when I got charged by ifrit, was too busy panicking keeping people alive to notice where he was.

One Ifrit HM run I was doing for the book, for vanity and to use while I work on my Relic quest, but mostly for vanity, I was in a party with another Scholar and an Arcanist(no, I don't mean Summoner, I mean an actual Arcanist with no soul stone on). The other Scholar kept getting hit by charges and eruptions, the died and I swiftres'd them, and they refused to take it. We wiped because I was basically solo healing because the other Scholar was too busy dpsing and running. The Scholar left and the tank told me to solo heal, and I told him to look at my gear(it wasn't even full i90, just some pieces here and there and some i80 I got from running CT on Summoner), and he said I'd be fine, despite be also mentioning it was because I was solo healing before that we wiped. The Arcanist, who was surprisingly good, backed me up with saying I couldn't do it(not in a mean way, mind you, just in an "they're not geared/experienced enough to" way). That tank left and a few dps did too. We got new people and we did it again, with another wipe because that healer(a White Mage) decided to only the main tank, and that was it, so I was stuck with healing the full party, and the new dps liked standing in attacks. We eventually got through it, but no book dropped.
I had another run where I was more geared, but still no Relic and looking for the book, and another Scholar was in the party, mostly dps'd, spent the last 30% of the fight dead and refused to accept my res, then the book dropped, the other Scholar rolled need and seriously beat my roll, despite doing next to nothing the whole fight.

In CM one time, this monk decided to do a speedrun against everyone's consent because a healer, a tank, and half of the dps were fresh 50s with no real experience, so we agreed to show them how to run the dungeon and let them watch cutscenes and explain everything we could. I had party lead and the poor White Mage tried to keep the monk alive and only got aggro and died themselves. We asked him to stop pulling so much and let the tanks do it, but he refused to listen, and we tried to kick him, but I couldn't do it for some reason(I've never had to kick a non-afk player before and haven't since) and I told the other healer not to heal him and hope he'll leave and get the 30 minute penalty, then he started making horrible remarks to us about sucking and being carebears and just used a lot of insults towards us. I was eventually able to kick him for harassment, but I wish he had just left and gotten the 30 minute penalty. The actual healing was a nightmare because he pulled far too much for me to deal with alone since the White Mage died nearly instantly and the dps died just as quickly if they stood in an AoE. But once we took it slow and got a more cooperative dps, it went very smoothly.

I've also had ST runs where the other healer couldn't heal at all and/or just dps'd, or got locked out of a fight. Luckily, they also never seem to roll on the healer gear I want, despite probably needing it more than I do, but I also don't think better gear could help that much stupid.

You have no idea man. After playing SCH and feeling so over whelmed starting out in stuff like Ultima and the HM primals(normally play WAR/PLD/BLM) I have mad respect for healers in those sort of chaotic fights. Its very easy to tunnel vision looking at HP bars and not watch your surrounds, vice versa as well.

My newest pet peeve regarding bad healers involve Frontlines. I've had enough Frontline campaigns where I literally receive no heals at all the entire duration of the campaign. I know healing in PVP can be hard, but come on. Literally no heals, no stoneskin, nothing the whole time.

I know my horror story is probably not on par with everyone elses, due to my still being relatively low level, but I'll post it anyways.

DF queue for low level dungeon, get sastasha. Okay. get in, PLD, BLM, SMN, and myself, as WHM. Experienced crowd, easy run, awesome. Start moving through the dungeon. notice extra squishy pally. Look up gear, all broken. Great. moving on, get to first boss (the cat creature) blm goes in, takes aggro, and then dies, almost instantly. huh. finish boss (takes about half my mana pool in just heals) and look at BLM. Again, fully broken armor. looks at summoner. Broken. all from same guild, all broken armors. fun run. get through the dungeon with some difficulty, get to the final boss. fight starts, and bubbles start. I take my own side and eliminate bubbles, and boom, an add. no one kills it. second one, again I take it, boom 3 more adds. this goes on until we have a full complement of adds on the tank. at this point im pure cure spamming, just to keep up the tank. Get to 10 percent, I yell out "LB" like 5 times, no one limit breaks. I run out of mana, and drink a quick ether. keep cure spamming until dead. hardest dungeon I have ever had to run.

Until stun-locks....

I realize that this is more of a rant but since I was playing healer, it is a "healing horror story".

So yesterday I decided that I was going to work on my WHM. I started by making sure and getting my dailies from the day before done. So I queue as my SCH and run the "Expert roulette”. I get Tam-Tara HM and one of the players states that it’s their first time. Looking back, I should have taken this as a sign. We get to the last boss and wipe due to not killing enough of the “groomsmen” or whatever they are before “Red Wedding”.

I switch to my WHM, and notice that the normal roulette class in need it “healer”, yay for me. I queue up and I think we get “Thousand Maws”. The first tank quits before we even get out of the protective circle. I don’t remember when the new player message comes across, but I think he/she just quit b/c of the dungeon. We get a new TANK and start on our way. And don’t really have any issues (some people did die, but no wipes), until we get to the last boss. The tank we got was in ilvl 17 gear for the lvl 24 dungeon, so he was squishy. I think he weapon might have only been ilvl 12 ish. Still we make it to the last boss. The fight starts and I notice that at first I’m the only one killing the pods around the edge. I think I only made it 1/2 around before they hatched. I don’t think I told them about it, so that probably was my fault for not explaining. The fight goes sideways quickly. The tail pops and I call it, but I think at that time we had two other adds up and people were going after them. We somehow (I don’t know how) manage to beat the fight. I thought for sure it was going to be a wipe but we survived.

I do other stuff while I wait for the reset of the dungeons. The time comes and I ask in my FC if anyone else wants to run the “Expert” as a group since it reset. We get a group of 4 (WAR, SMN, SMN, and me (SCH)). Up pops Tam-Tara HM and we start. Our WAR knows we all are over geared and so pulls to the first mini-boss. Only at that time does he remember that he just switched to WAR and so didn’t have any of his cool downs available. He goes down and then it’s everyone running around seeing how long we can kite. We only managed to kill one of the mobs before we wipe. (Like I said earlier, I really should have been paying attention to the signs). We laugh it off and regroup. We then finish the dungeon with only a few goofs along the way. We also recognized the error of bringing two SMN into tam-tara HM, but we do manage to kill enough of the groomsmen, so that we will survive “Red wedding”. We did skip them the 3rd cycle and just burnt the boss. I think we managed to kill him with about 5 seconds before “red wedding”. It was close. This was with all of us being very familiar to the dungeon. But I will admit none of us we taking it that seriously.

I switch to my WHM and once again see that “Healer” is in need. Up comes the Ifrit trial. Hm I would have preferred a dungeon just for the XP but ok. I also get “One or more of the party members is new”. This fight goes fairly smooth, and is over quick.

I get out and see that “Healer” is still in need, and decide to do it even though I should just focus on the dungeons closer to my level (42ish). The dungeon pops and it’s Halatali. don’t actually recognize it, as it’s been so long since I’ve run it. I get the “one or more are new” message. The DRG admits that it’s him, but says “I’ve watched the video, and know to say out of the AOEs”. I admit that it’s been a while for me, but we should be ok. We go and the tank learns to not stand in the “bomb” AOE as it will one shot him. We get to the first boss next to the fire. They all attack him, and I position to be ready for the first line of adds. The adds pop and I take them down. Luckily the tank didn’t really need that many heals. I also notice that the rest of the group is only attacking the boss. The next line(s) start and they start picking up the close ones as well. I get the far set and I’m able to kill all but one due to needing to heal the tank more often. After the fight the DRG asks “What happens if the adds get to the center”. The tank replays “I’m not sure, maybe the AOE thing.”. (At this point I should have realized the the DRG was not the only one new.) I explain the last fight and we move on, and get to the Dragon in the pit. I explain the fight and tell them not to chase into the water, and we down it. We finally get to the last boss’s chamber and we get 3 “Mapping the realm” notices. Since I’m the only one who has done the dungeon before I explain the fight. And we go. We get the boss down on the first try.

By this point I”m a little burnt out for having new people on 4 of the 5 runs I’ve done today. I only select “Brayflox”, “Cutters Cry” and “Stone Vigil”. The dungeon pops and it’s Cutters. Once again I get the “one or more are new” message. I think the two DPS admit that they are new. For the most part the dungeon went very smooth. And we make it to the last boss without any serious issues. We explain the fight and get going. The DPS don’t get close enough for the violet eyes and so I’m constantly removing their debuffs and healing. The fight really just turned into a blur for me, and there was always something I needed to take care of. I think I had to raise the two DPS 3-4 times, and had decided that the next one that died I wasn’t going to raise. Thank you for “Shroud” as it’s the only thing that kept me with MP. Someone comments that “wow I’m amazing”, not really I was just in panic mode trying to keep everyone alive. Luckily only one DPS died (again) right before we killed the boss. I did end the dungeon with 3 commendations, so “hip hip hurray”.

By this time I’ve finally leveled to 44, and add “Dzemael Darkhold” to my list of dungeons to queue and wait. Sure enough it’s DD that pops. It starts and again I get “one or more are new”. At this point I’m just accepting that it’s a standard message for all dungeons. We find out that two of the others (TANK and DPS) are new. After forgetting about the All seeing Eye at first, we loose the tank and one DPS due to lack of communication. I’m busy trying to keep myself alive, so I fail to rez anyone. They respawn and run back to us in the purple light. We do manage to kill the first group. I know I did not die, but I think the others all might have once. (That was probably me being a bad healer, but all I was trying to do was stay alive, and not have a wipe.) We proceed to the “Eye fight”. It is explained to only fight them in the purple, and that it will fade and we have to keep moving, from purple to purple light. Everyone says they understand, and I move to the purple and the tank pulls. I notice that one of the DPS (SMN) has decided to say at the entrance and attack from there. We wipe and once again explain the fight, and the need to move. I think we actually got it on the second try, It wasn’t pretty but it worked. for the main dungeon, I don’t think anyone grasped the concept of needing to remain on the “switches” until they turn off. But good thing I have heals and can just heal through the damage from the crystals. We get to the 2nd boss and explain the fight and how we need to just keep out of the AOEs and that it’s going to be rough. We wiped the first time, and once again manage to beat it on the 2nd or 3rd try. We do finally make it to the final boss. I explain the fight and tell them that if they get “targeted” during the crystals, to move away from the group. The first crystal phase hits, and I’m not targeted so I start DPS on the crystal. Only to realize that “away from the group” means 2 -3 feet away from the rest of us. So we get taken out. 2nd try and this time the MNK get’s hit by the cleave. I swiftcast-raise and he disappears. I then realize that he released instead of accepting the raise. We actually manage to get to the 3rd crystals before we wiped. I think it was partially due to the fact that at one point only the tank and I were alive so we just kept trading roles (one attacks the crystals and the other moves the line away.). We regroup and go at it again, and this time I think I got hit by the line AOE due to being out of position. We wipe again. I eventually have to tell them that when you get “targeted” forget about the crystals and just stand on the opposite side of the room. Needless to say we eventually run out of time, and never made it to the 3rd crystal again. But that’s what I expected, but we gave it a try.

I'm only 1/2 way to 45 by now, and decide to do stuff in the open world to get to level 45. I get to 45 and do my class quest and get the 45 skill of “Holy”. I decide to queue one more time before I quit for the night. I drop brayflox from my list and queue up. Up pops Cutters Cry, and once again the message “one or more are new”. A few of us ask and no one admits they are new, but we decide that it’s the BRD, due to how he was playing. We get to the (first?) boss where typically the healer kites the adds around the outside. The tank asks if I’ll kite, and I say that I’ll kite the adds. We start the fight and the adds come. I make sure to cast a big heal and get aggro, and start my run, and notice that at least one of the adds did not come to me, it’s remaining in the middle. I run my track route and see that the BRD decided to attack one of them. Ok, I throw one heal on him so that if he dies the add will come to me. As I’m about to finish my 2nd lap, and the boss still isn’t dead, I then realize that the one mob the BRD decided to attack is the one that gives the boss extra HP when close to it. Even with that we do kill the boss (well they do, I just kept running track, and throwing out a regen on people between poles.) We do make it all the way to the last boss and explain the fight. This time I don’t think anyone died and we managed to beat the dungeon.

So that was my day yesterday. I ran 8 runs (hurray for being a healer), and the only run that didn’t have someone new was the one I did with my FC. The other 7 all had someone new. Only one run that we failed, so that was good. Please Mr Roulette, I’m enough of a newb all by myself, I don’t think I need any more to the mix.

I caused a healing horror story on Titan HM the other day. (I am so sorry PUG WHMs that were stuck with me...) I went in on bard to get my relic for that class... Four relic weapons now, never had a single problem with Titan HM until bard...

I had literally the worst luck ever. First time around, swore I was out of Weight of the Land... um, apparently not. Down I went. Got raised, accepted, five seconds after I was rez'd, Titan started his stomps; the WHMs were busy healing others and had not topped me off, so... Down I went again. I'm the only bard in the party and they clearly wanted Mage's Ballad, so the other WHM raised me. I rez'd... straight into the stack of Weight of the Land that had been under the WHM when her raise went off. Finally, third time being raised, I think, THIS TIME I won't die again instantly! Accepted the raise like an idiot, rez'd right into bombs.

I finally just begged them to please leave me dead because clearly I was no use on that run. I guess because I normally play heals, I have not mastered the art of strategically accepting raises, although I also really think there's no good time in Titan to rez...

My apologies, WHM bros who suffered that. XD

Mine would be doing ST as my whom and and having squishiest team in the world, and to top it off with the other healer (who was a scholar) have cleric stance on the entire time and use cure.

One of the party members got impatient and bugged us to hurry up and do his map. I see both people in the party are SMM and BLM respectively. Said SMN summons his Titan-Egi to tank and we face off against a Chimera and its powerful allies. Tried as I might, I had a tough time trying to keep Titan-Egi healed while trying to keep myself and the party alive due to the bouncing aggro between me and the wannabe tank. I eventually get ganged up by the cobras, I go down, then the SMN complains that I didn't keep the party healed enough as they get torn to shreds.


I didn't care. I did what I could. Maybe the guy complaining will think twice before rushing people do his precious treasure maps.

Bingo. Were you queued for a duty so you didn't want to summon your chocobos? Would stand to reason to have one or more in heal mode to help the party.

Another one. This primarily hits on how lack of communication can cause problems. (SPOILER: This does give away a little of the story for Tam Tarra HM).

I'll tell the story using the logs. I signed up for the Expert Roulette and get Tam Tarra. The only thing I notice is that a few of the players are stopping to read all of the "parchment" items scattered throughout the dungeon. But I'm not to worried, since this shouldn't be that hard of a dungeon.

I'm assuming the DRG initiated a vote kick on me, but I'm not sure. That is my only guess on what they were talking about. For some sad reason this actually excited me. Would they actually kick me from the run? Will they wait until just before the last boss and then kick me? What will they do? We only kill the next 6-8 mobs and get to the "pre-boss" fight with the floating orbs that explode if they touch you. I think the WAR touches one and sees it start to go off, and then runs back into the tunnel. At witch point the three of them group up mid way back and just stand there.

This I think is the 2nd time I've done a dungeon where everyone else is a PS4 player and they are all talking, and don't understand why I can't intuitively grasp what they want when they don't communicate with me. I looked them up and they were from the Diablos server I think, so at least I won't run into them on my server. I do feel bad for then next healer they get stuck with though.

First thing just a quick explanation: Me and my brother's share an account. The one used was our first character but after obtaining SMN we decided to make our own separate characters. I main a Hyur Male SCH now, and I just recently hit level 50.

So I have two stories, both of which occurred earlier today sadly enough.

The first story takes place in Sastasha, a dungeon I have never had trouble in before and half-AFK in because Eos can easily keep up with the healing. Well, right when the first fight started I REALLY looked at the tank. I was shocked. He was running ~lvl 8 equipment and had 277 HP and went to below 150 every attack. Its not that he was going to die (my heals were hitting for 170+ and Eos was healing, constantly, for ~120 but the fact that I had to run the entirety of Sastasha without being able to DPS (except the random Bios here and there) kind of upset me. It was a VERY slow run (especially since he HAD to do a full one) and even the boss actually needed me to pay attention for once (halving the tanks health in one swing). It was a change, for sure, but it wasn't one that I would say I enjoyed. It wasn't just that he was weak, it was the fact that everyone else could tank better than him, even Eos, but he never stopped using Flash. It wasn't his first time doing the dungeon either.

The second story, surprisingly, does not include the tank as the object of annoyance but a monk. I did Low Level Duty Roulette (For Healer Bonus Gil) and landed in Dzemael Darkhold. I was excited, I love this dungeon and have ran threw it many times since I unlocked it. I could tell right away that I wouldn't be able to rely 100% on Eos heals and go Cleric stance this run (Tank had <4000 HP) which is fine, I just knew it was going to be slower, and after checking his equipment (ilvls <40 on average) the tank was going to need me to heal them almost exclusively on some of the bigger pulls. The Tank mentioned that he KNEW he wasn't strong enough to do a speed run, I told him that it was fine and that I was up for whatever. The BLM and MNK said they've done it before and they were fine with that.

Well, it went fine for the most part until the first boss, this is when I knew the monk was going to be a problem. I have never had trouble with the All-Seeing Eye before this run, not ever. Even on my first run I was in Cleric stance DPSing with the rest of them to take it down faster to get on with the dungeon. Well, no luck this time. Not only did the monk seem to be allergic to the crystal's light but they would stand around after the light dimmed for a few seconds and attack the mobs and boss outside of the light. Needless to say I spent 80% of the boss healing the monk, and positioning myself so they were in my line of sight. It was madness.

So after that we moved onto the toads and things room. With the high damage of the mobs in this section I knew that the Tank was going to need my attention. Well... after the first group, the tank accidentally pulled the next two frogs with a few other mobs, should have been fine really, heal intensive but fine. Well the monk decided that they would run around to the other side of the wall and not only get hit by the toad AoE but also the crystal blast. I switch to try to heal them without noticing that they were out of sight. So I had to move, by this time I had to heal the tank. I threw a physick at the tank quickly but the monk ended up also pulling the remaining mobs and the tank flashed. And wiped.

The Ogre boss was as it usually goes, dodging and healing. That is until the monk started getting hit by fire and fist. One Physick and they were down. Then I lagged and died from two fire balls. Embarrassing, but the BLM and Tank finished the boss quickly.

It was uneventful until the boss of the dungeon. Both the monk and tank took hefty damage from this bosses PBAoE, and I had to switch between them. Even with Sacred Soil down the monk was losing health fast. The Tank was steady. I was worried, because this was phase one, I knew someone was going to die in phase 2. And they did, the monk, in all their glory, died almost instantly when the boss placed down the landmines. As if the monk was attracted to them he stepped on two in succession then got Lasered. Swiftcast-Resurrection and then we were able to take the boss out eventually.

It was insane, and I have never had such a bad run of the Darkhold before. Granted the monk could have been lagging, but with how things went and how much they enjoyed zipping around in combat makes me find it hard to believe.

Even though I don't main healer, I have WHM and Scholar at 50 with some pre-Coil 2 runs done and I've actually only really had one vaguely memorable healing story. It wasn't really that bad, but I was in Aurum Vale on my Scholar and the tank took 8-9 stacks of debuffs on the first boss and 6 stacks of barbs on the last boss. I don't think they knew they had to cleanse the debuffs or something...I somehow managed to heal through the first boss without anyone dying, but the tank was a lost case with 6 stacks on the last boss, so he died and one of the melee just tanked instead. We finished with the melee tanking it. I didn't explain the cleansing in mid-fight on the last boss, since the party was Japanese and I didn't have time to type it in Japanese.

I was surprised by the amount of people who dislike Aurum Vale when I read this thread though. That one is my most favorite sub-50 dungeon, and I love it the most on a healer, haha. Plus the exp gain from killing hatched seedlings is insane.

That's the reason people hate it. When they are forced to run it at 50.

-- They don't need XP
-- They don't have access to their "end of line" skills.
-- Their gear all get's lowered (synced).

It's like your so close to your goal you can almost touch it, but you know no matter how hard you try it's out of your reach.

Dunno about anyone else, but I just hate it because I've had a shit ton of terrible experiences with it when I first started out (definitely not so bad any more, but I still hate it's guts) - unlucky moments, inexperienced parties, no one eating the fruits and my heals not able to keep up with that damage across the board, etcetcetc - Unless it was much more difficult roughly 10ish months ago (not quite a year, but a long time ago) and not so many 50'd people back then. I don't have any of that bad luck, now, but it's like going into a HM or EX for the first time with a bad party or unlucky run - the name alone gets associated with 'bad'/'terrible'... and then it sticks.

Aurum Vale was, and still is, a nightmare to heal as a scholar.

Yeah, AV itself is (mostly) fine, it's just got a high rate of failure with DF parties.

For me, in the early patches, it was also the only place where I got the make-you-look-stupid kind of lag. I don't know why. I can run Titan HM, Titan Ex, Ultima HM without having their patterns memorized; my connection is good enough that I can just react, and that's been the case since 2.0. Never had to pre-move or any of that stuff. But with the cyclops in AV, I'd run into the stupid, terrible lag that screws people over so much. I'd be pre-moving, all the way across the room, well out of the danger zone for a second or more sometimes, and still be getting hit. That part's better now, so it's just a matter of the rest of the party.

I have that same problem too! I think he targets healers on purpose, because I swear, no one ever gets the paralyzed debuff from that fight except me! D:


I recently pugged an end-game dungeon for the myths and got the Ultimate Weapon. I think this end-game dungeon is the absolute easiest - I feel like I don't have to heal through any of the boss fights (not constantly anyway) until Ultima, even if there are newbies. On this one though, we nearly wiped at the first boss instance! I don't think any of the DPS knew what to do with the magic hand things, and quite a few people didn't know the outside part was electric. We made it through with no deaths, but I was shocked that we almost wiped.

I think he targets ME! Whether tank, healer or DPS, I get hit by that SOB every time over and over and over again!

I know I hate AV because there still tends to be a large number of people at that level who don't really worry much about their gear. When I pug this, I usually find one person who has level 40 or less gear! Ran it over the last weekend and the healer was complaining that her gear was breaking. Really? You don't visit a mender or mind your stuff regularly? She had level 90 and up gear and everything was broke. She quit before we got to the Cyclopse. Then we got a healer who acted like a 6 year old at every trash mob, so he kited all of them and we had to handle it like we were shooting ducks at a carnival. Just glad I got through it.

To my surprise and dismay, I got AV in my Thyrus atma book right after that! Wouldn't have mattered, I was DPS for that fight, but come on! As the song goes: Here I go again!

Not really a horror story but a "I WANT TO FLIP ALL THE TABLES" story. So I've been farming Garuda ex for weeks now for the mount. Most of my garuda ex runs have been super smooth today but my last run just now... Everything went fine until the sisters popped during the X formation tornadoes. On my server, Tonberry, we normally do the triangle method. So I was expecting the OT to grab suparna and run to the usual place. Instead though, he grabbed chirada and ran to where the DPS was. I was half asleep at this point and automatically placed dots on suparna coz I normally DPS about half this fight.

Next thing I'm realizing I have aggro on suparna. Luckily I had the presence of mind to pull suparna away from chirada and took her to the correct place. The other sch with me was panicking a bit at this point and was spamming all his heals on me. I figured that I'd tank her till chirada died. Instead though, I ended up tanking suparna and then garuda for the rest of the fight. (With how overgeared people are, she only lasted until a bit after we moved back to the middle.) I ended up eating a wicked wheel to the face and survived somehow. XD; Anyway so we win and proceed to open the chest and of course a nightmare whistle drops and of course the dumb tank takes it. It was an english tank too because he was typing in english earlier and when I confronted him about not grabbing suparna, he won the whistle and immediately left. Someone kill me now.

This isn't a story about me, personally, but I was involved in a party while trying to level my THM.

I was in Halatali (normal) and the tank was using nothing but autoattacks and I think the occasional attack skill? He never flashed or lobbed or anything. I ended up having to tank a majority of the first third of the dungeon before the WHM and I decided to kick him. The issue wasn't that we were having a hard time or anything but it was putting a very big strain on me (interrupts and all), and the WHM. They were struggling to heal everyone. We almost wiped a few times but we eventually made it through after a new tank joined. I was so glad I wasn't healing at that moment.

Sunken temple of Qarn. First boss. DPS didn't know how to kill the bees, and kept not running over the panels. I stuck it out, and healed and raised and healed, till either oom or a bee got me 27, yes Twenty Seven times, before vote abandoning. most frustrating hour of my year.

27 wipes. not a single boss kill. 1337.

=_= Please, people, stop buying your levels from bots and actually use your characters. It is getting absurd how many people don't know what key skills their classes have. If I see another i100+ white mage that only uses stone (stone 1)... And is confused when I ask them to use cure...

I don't mind people who are actually learning. I don't mind people who aren't super high geared. What I do mind is people who want to be carried and refuse to learn.

Aurum Vale... This was my first time going here. I've been taking the game slow, so I'm already level 50. I haven't even done Garuda yet. I read up on all the different mechanics of the dungeon, and my brother even walked me through it, mostly, before I even queued up. So I was pretty prepared. Well... I get into the dungeon and I learn my tank has some broken equipment. Great. And then I find out she can't even hold hate properly. I would use Cure+Regen and pull hate. Seriously. And it's not like I cast Regen is she's 100%. No. She's like 90% or less and I cast regen. That's after a Cure spell. Well anyways... We get to like.. the 4th or so group of enemies and the monk decides to get close to the plant monsters and ends up pulling a toad and some other things. We wipe. Monk and Tank hate eachother now. Great.

We get to the first boss and we wipe. The tank admited it was their fault. They didn't aggro properly or eat the fruits frequently enough. Fair enough.

I'll just mention here that the BLM hasn't said anything besides use ingame emotes. Well... we get alittle further and I will admit I screwed up. I accidently casted Holy instead of Cure on the tank and he died. I SwiftCast+Raised him and we didn't wipe so... it wasn't THAT bad. Well we get to the second boss and I get hit by a couple of eye lasers (not paying attention) but I learn from my mistake and get hit by nothing afte the initial 2. Well the BLM on the other hand... I think he ate about 50% of them. And the Tank took almost every AoE that was thrown at her. Needless to say we wiped. We fought it again and everyone besides the BLM is doing great. Ever single laser the boss used toward the BLM landed. I had to Cure+Esuna every single time a laser went off. It was frustrating.

Anyway we keep going and the tank dies again. This time wasn't really my fault. I was spamming cure on her but she was standing in the Gold liquid and had the agro of a Goldvine. So yeah... I raised her and it was fine. Oh. Did I mention that the Tank has taken every single Bad Breath at this point? All Goldvine breath attacks have hit them.

We get to the Mistress boss... Oh yay. We start the fight and everything is fine until... Well. At one point the BLM died so I SwiftCast+Raised them. Then the MNK dropped. I had no time to stand for 7seconds to raise her. We had adds all over and the boss was hitting the tank like a truck. She got impatient and said "ol twinkletoes :(". Then the tank went down. I decided the tank was more important to our survival than the MNK so I SwiftCast+Raised her (SwiftCast was off cooldown finally). She was hit by another bad breath and we wipe. Yay.

The MNK shrugged at me and I had to explain what had happened. I couldn't magically Raise her if I couldn;t take the time to cast it. And the tank is more important to keep alive. Well anyways...

We get ready to fight again. The MNK mentions that not taking all the Bad Breaths would help. And then tank mentions that we need to keep our stacks of the debuff low. No, really?

We fight her again and everyhting is going a little better. The tank is still taking bad breaths but no one is really dying. I even have time to DPS occassionally. Well.. then the BLM dies out of no where. I think they were standing of the gold stuff? I don't know. It happened to fast. I attempt to raise them but they are too far away, and I notice my stacks just hit 4 so I run to grab a fruit before raising him. Well I have an add on me so I die. But... The boss goes down. Thank god.

The tank made a joke saying "It was ugly but we made it lol". And then the MNK says "Yeah your tanking was." and left. As me and the BLM run back to the exit I give them the Comm since they are the only one left. And I always give one out. Well... right as he leaves he tells me "learn2 heal". I was like... What? I did my best. I'm still learning. I can't really recall a moment when we wiped where it was specifically caused by my lack of healing. My MP management could use some work but I never caused a wipe. It kind of rattled me a little. The dungeon was tedious and frustrating, especially for me, and for him to leave like that? That was literally the only thing he said.

Don't let it rattle you, though I completely understand the feel (been there, still felt that) - I find as the dungeons get harder/the level prereq gets higher, the more often you encounter finger pointing and stupid comments like that. :\ As long as you know you did what you could as well as you could, then don't think too hard on their short sightedness. It's easier said than done but it's really the only thing you can do. Your struggle to do the best you can won't go noticed by some of the groups - but when you find that awesome party that's just tossed together and jives so damn well (socially and playability?), it makes everything all worth it.

If they can't even help themselves for the tiniest things like stepping out of the goo, then that's not your problem. That's completely on them.

Honestly? It often isn't the healer's fault. I say this having played every class. People don't realize it, but how well the party plays does affect how well the healer does.

Real Example: Coil T1. Tank didn't use cooldowns, didn't dodge panels, ended up with the healers heavily burdened. Which was fine except the DPS also didn't know what to do. Boom, healers are screwed because of how much healing they have to do and how hard it is not grab aggro through that much heavy healing even with a tank that knows what they are doing, much less a tank that didn't use their cooldowns and couldn't hold aggro at all. So their aggros went up the roof and their mps dropped to the bottom.

In situations like that, often you see: "Oh, healer(s) ran out of MP, they need to learn how to manage their MP" or "I wasn't getting healed, healers need to learn how to heal." or "Oh, healers couldn't keep me alive, they need to get better gear." or w/e.

As a healer, you have to get used to taking the blame even when it isn't your fault. Tanks as well. Obviously, if it is your fault, you get blamed still.
