You can but:
You need to actually be able to look at both screens
You need to know your dungeon like the back of your hand
You need to be good at healing
And last but not least
If it's not working out, cut it out.
What is my luck with the last EW story dungeon...
Yesterday we got RPR who didn't know what they're doing, was last on aggro list, joined the fight often late, died multiple times in various ways, including by overlapping their aoe with mine on last boss. I was DRK, so even if I didn't pop TBN, I'd survive that. Just how unaware of your surroundings you need to be to die that way?..
Today's morning run I got into dungeon in progress, but they spend there just 1 minute. I wish I knew why their previous tank bailed out. Things was dying slower than I'd like, but that's fine, I guess. The bosses, tho... It's extremely rare nowadays I have even the opportunity to summon my shadow buddy twice in a boss fight. I did trice each boss. We wiped on last. Why...
Just did Expert roulette on DRG. Got Dead Ends. Other DPS was new, tank and healer weren't.
Healer... apparently had no idea how to do mechanics. Like, I'm talking avoiding the very obvious danger areas. Frequently got up to 5 vuln stacks.
And also didn't know how to use Esuna much based on how the 1st boss went.
Like, if you're not gonna do the job properly, don't queue as it.
I am begging you all to please wall pull in Castrum Meridianum.
Having recently farmed several older savages via PFs for their glams myself, I had bunch of them joining my PF as well. It seems like the word ‘unsynced’ really just make some folk thinks they can just brute force through everything and anything. E2s, E4s, E7s, E8s, E12s, you name it. Not knowing bananas oranges & blues. Eating damage downs like cookies that they could not out damage the party’s AST (The party tank called that DPS out in the chat before disbanding). Messing up junction shiva/titan & basic relativity.
All these after clearly stating that we’re assuming everybody knows what they’re doing. But no, it doesn’t stop from those individuals from joining. Full I am glad I’ve farmed everything that I wanted at this point.
Never been a fan of people that complains something in Frontline after a full match of silence, it is so unnecessary
Frontline: Seal Rock.
RNGesus was heavily skewed by spawning multiple A and S rank nodes just next to our home base. Easy win? I’ll take it. Almost feels bad for the opposing side though.
Level 81 dungeon.
Single pulling YPYT tank.
Warrior.
All maxed jobs, even DOL/DOH.
Me pulling more for him with Arm's Length.
Rest of the group joins in with me onward.
I get a commendation.
Adequate context.
Big ups in-progress LotA Mentor Roulette with an 80% dead Phlegethon.
Level 83 dungeon. Tank tells the healer at the beginning that he will pull w2w. Healer is OK with it. I'm dps so all is good...
Until the dungeon starts and the tank WALKs from wall to wall but doesn't bother to attack all of them. Have to run inside his pull to get the aggro off because he doesn't take them. Why is it always the tanks that claim they will w2w that can't do it?
Friend sent me a video of his heroe's gauntlet run last Saturday (lvl 80 dgn). Him as pally with Ast, drg and brd. Said he noticed the run was slower than usual so through less than...legal means, had a duty recorder on for regular dgns. So he has drg focused on the video and I swear, I kid you not, you know how someone says "oh he was single targeting all the time" but think its a little bit of hyperbole?
This was no hyperbole. Literally (and I hate to use the word but for the first time in a long time, I can use it correctly) drg was single targeting every thing. Never changed it up. Just went full combo--chaos blossom to full thrust?--on every w2w pull friend did. There's even a section where he just stands still for over 11 secs doing nothing. On final boss, the drg takes all the raging attacks that faces his way. When I asked him why didn't he just call out the drg, friend said he genuinely thought at first it was either a gear thing or a skill thing or both and that it's been a pretty long time since he encountered slow completion times in 80-90 dgns so he thought nothing of it but he was still curious to see why it was slow and he didn't have his magical abacus with him when the run started.
Anyone reading this, if you're an upcoming player and you're wondering if its worth aoeing mobs, it absolutely is. General rule is 3+ mobs. Please do it because what I watched just hurts my drg core and it's not even my main.
I miss healing so much.
I'm running through level 70-80+ dungeons with healers that can't handle W2W. I'm rotating through my mits, doing everything in my power to keep going but I'm having healers that won't even move out of the way of mob aoes and die before I do...
It's a shame because I love tanking a lot. Never thought I would when I first tried it but it's a lot of fun. Chances are that as soon as I level up my GNB and DRK to 90 though I'll always use WAR/PLD as my tanks since those are super self sustaining.
Similar sentiment, except reversed in order.
I just cleared the “Tank You” achievement for PLD yesterday for their mount and started going into leveling, 5678, and expert as a GNB. I’m definitely noticing once again the sheer differences in their self sustaining capabilities on firsthand. Cooldowns are well rotated. I spam Corundum as much as possible. I let them know I’m going to bolide to have an addition cooldown on my disposal & to not give them a heart attack.
Currently sitting at 204/300 for GNB, I’m already dreading for the day when I’ll start going in as a DRK for that achievement, which only had like 70’ish out of 300 needed credits.
/shudder
No bad news, I just had the cleanest P4S weekly clear thus far today xD.
Only did P1-3S on reset day and P4S today.
Absolutely no wipes, not even a single screw up on any of the mechanics from anyone.
Only complaint I have really is that I was m1 and the m2 melee kept standing on the bosses left even after the towers when we needed both ( kept doing this on every mechanic basically but it can only rly be an issue there because you can steal the debuffs you need ).
It's more of a nitpick tho but generally speaking I think m1 and m2 should stick to their sides it makes it way smoother, it was the same on Act 3 too the other melee did the bait correctly but then went to my tower for soak before adjusting.
Other than that tho it was smooth as hell and the boss died early on both Phase 1 and 2.
Felt like how a reclear should go.
Ofc I didn't win any of the loot per usual but I have extremely low expectations with that to begin with...
In the months clearing it I think I've only won a weapon chest once in P4S, never the body chest or another weapon chest and none of the weapon drops.
Yesterday I had one of the more wholesome Bunker runs on my RDM alt on alliance roulette in a long while.
Soon as we load in I get Dance Partner, only for the DNC to logout as the gate dropped.
People were new in one of the other alliances and the poor guys would oftentimes die to mechanics, but me being a too-nice-for-my-own-good would spare the mp to scrape them and occasionally our healer off the floor on the first boss. Naturally since people were dying it took longer to kill the first boss, but no one was getting upset. We were all just pressing our buttons and doing mechanics and getting people back up to keep going.
Trash mobs after the first boss someone jokingly said to not forget to interrupt, and another one said 'if you don't I'm getting my lawyer.' Naturally the newbie tank in another alliance forgot to interrupt and a few called for lawyers.
Second boss (the ones with the pvp lasers) I felt the wiff from alliance C's laser, and made mention if it in chat, and got a good chuckle out of the near-death wiff.
Third boss was where people who were new to the raid had no idea about the mechanics showed quite a bit. Lots of death and due to a majority of the alliance not following people for the double Support Pod R10/R30 we did not have enough people for the Chemical Burn pads that came right after. The 3 tanks lived while the rest of us ate dirt, and the boss was at 0.3%, eventually we wiped at 0.1% even with cheering on the tanks and the poor tank from A got upset saying that sorry he couldn't finish the fight for being a noob.
We still cheered him on anyway for effort.
Last boss I got a bit too aggressive on my RDM opener (full mana go brrr) and got slapped by the boss for my efforts. During transition I explained the Prime Sword mechanic in alliance chat just in case...and got replies that people learned something new today and had never been able to figure out. You're most welcome y'all.
To everyone in that alliance, I hope y'all roll 99s on the stuff you want for the next month.
To the dancer that logged out just to avoid running Bunker, I hope your sleeves get wet whenever you wash your hands and your socks get soggy whenever you step in shallow puddles.
I just had this happen today. Tank immediately says at the start "Big pulls okay?" Healer said sure. Tank proceeds to single pull literally the entire dungeon. Tank lowkey gave me caveman vibes. They didn't even take aggro half the time, so me and the other DPS almost died a few times due to random mobs smacking us.
At least GNB gets Corundum + an extra Aurora charge at endgame. Plus DRK just feels so anti-cooperative. Living Dead and The Blackest Night both require a Healer to work with you. If you're shielded or your Blackest Night isn't popped before it runs out, then you don't get Dark Arts. If you're healed up during Living Dead you just outright die. Superboli isn't nearly that bad thankfully. GNB midgame is a bit rough though. If your healer isn't up to snuff you can't really out sustain a lot with just one Aurora per minute.
What is it with Stone Vigil and tanks who don't know what they are doing. Was on my alt as SCH in leveling, got there, tank was PLD in lvl45 relic set with no Iron Will for solid 5 minutes despite the autotranslated reminder (they were playing with Deutsch if party info is something to go by). No aoe combo, just the second skill in it. Then they used every single cooldown before pulling the boss. Every. Single. One. Some got expired before the pull even.
And it wouldn't even be that bad, if RDM and SMN new what they are doing. Both died at second boss, and was constantly trying to get onto any bosses faces. What clieves, who cares. No responses to chat either.
I just... I really like to give tips to new players. I was a sprout who got some in my early days, and it was wonderful. But between unresponsive sprouts and godawful mentors... I guess that was a reminder why people who can actually give useful tips ain't wearing any crowns.
Also Stone Vigil healer was a Conjurer... please don't make randoms part of your weird challenge run.
What was the highest level duty you had a base class party member?
Finishing leveling my healers, half-asleep and not realizing I'd hit 90 on astrologian, and accidentally queue for Expert.
Slight panic moment when I load into Smileton. I am not a good healer. I can muddle through most content, but I'm not great at it.
Massive relief when I realize that A: it was an in-progress run, B: it's a warrior tank so I wouldn't have to heal anyway, and C: they're already 70% through the final boss.
Easiest expert roulette ever.
On separate occasions, I've seen a gladiator and a marauder in Pandemonium.
New healer in Vanaspati dies on final boss and then proceeds to blame us for not telling him the mechanics.
(Healer) I wish that when you say you're new that the folks who know what's going on gave you some idea.
(Me) Not everyone wants spoilers
(NIN) people like learning themselves
(Healer) I'd rather make certain we don't die.
(NIN) ggs
(Me) Classic case of damned if you do, damned if you dont
(Me) Grats on clear though, I guess
(Healer) Yeah ty
And to be technical he never actually asked for us to spoil the fight for him. We didn't wipe, we had a summoner.
Malikah Well, sometime mid to late ShB, a Thaumaturge joins the party. I pointed out that they were on a class instead of a job, they said "oops" and claimed they didn't know how that happened. They asked the party if anyone minds if they stay. I said it would be the polite thing to leave, because they're missing over half of their kit. They replied that they know what they're doing. They proceeded to never AoE at all, and when I pointed this out that if they're both not going to be on the correct job and not AoE, they really should leave. They replied that because I was so "rude" they for sure wouldn't be leaving. The party declined the vote kick and the THM proceeded to be completely useless the entire dungeon.
The other day a friend leveling his SCH (me on PLD) got so tired of BLMs ignoring mechanics and his Sacred Soil that he tried to drive the claw that stalks you on Anima (Tower of Babil) into the Black Mage. He failed, and managed to kill himself in the process. Was funny AF.
Ran Expert, got a WHM and he/she/it spams regen and medica until no tomorrow. I say nothing and just pulled the last pull with invuln only to get healed as if Thordan form the ultimate was chewing me.
Took a sip from my tea and chose Normal Raids. Got Asphodelos First Circle as a PLD. Bot WHM spammed healing on me as if their life depended on it.
Last but not least, off i go into Alliance Raid - got Aglaia got this time 2 SGE's and both chose to spam their single target shields on me... and i was not even MT.
Are all healer gone and only interns are left ? Especially SGE's are most of time bad, really bad. And i am not talking leveling i mean lvl 90 content. /rant end
Yes, they are gone.
When you have a class that is dumbed down to one button and can get by with just spamming Medica II endlessly, with a very low skill ceiling, along with a playerbase who is stuck in a "healers are meant to heal" mindset and can't even see if you're healing a lot on top of doing high damage without a cast bar or regen ticks and will look down on you as a filthy elitist green dps regardless ...well, why would most decent healers step foot into DF, or even use the role?
Healers are made for the players who want to put in the absolute bare minimum and get away with it. So that's the average type of player you get healing you.
Meh, I'm jaded after years of getting shafted as a Healer main. I generally don't see people that actually like healers as they are unless 1) They don't main the role or 2) Are new to the game and don't know what's been going on with healers for years. The scarce handful of people that do main healer and have for years are more in the camp of "Healers should heal" when pressed so I generalized it.
I’ve met this kind of WHM 3 days ago when I queued in as a GNB with my friend (SAM) to Dead Ends via Expert Roulette.
• ALL wall pulls: no Holies, not even a single Dia was thrown. Just Cure I. Cure I. I’ll feel better if I can just delete the action’s sound effect from the game. I saw a few Glare III here & there but possibly about half of them are cancelled.
• 1st boss: my friend clipped and never get their Esuna. In the chat they wrote ”Sorry I can’t Esuna myself.”
• 2nd boss: WHM died very early. 2nd DPS was a SMN but they did not raise the WHM for whatever reason. About 20% left they also died. We cleared without wipe nevertheless. After the encounter SMN apologized for forgetting they have a raise.
• 3rd boss: Similar to 2nd boss, except this time SMN died quite early but did not get their raise before the WHM died to something else (to Doom IIRC) themselves, leaving myself and my friend to duo the boss.
/smh
But speaking of experience, I am glad there is no trial like Ramuh ARR, ended up being stunned/fear for over 30 seconds because no one bothered to drop the electric aoe on me while I was showing to people how to remove that.
Pinnacle ARR fight
What is it with tanks in general who don't use any GCDs on packs, but pop every single one before the boss. I can understand doing that in Stone Vigil. I can't in Malikah's Well. You'd think by that time people learn to read their tooltips.
