Hmm, I don't live in those areas but that's a kinda good promotion I suppose....except what FF to even buy if you have all of them xD

Wait what?!? I own every Final Fantasy I'd want to buy....
Germoney here. Still no campaign for us : (
FF3 up until FF10 and FF13 are all on PC.
I wonder if a 60day Gamecard would count as a Final Fantasy game? I highly doubt it but that's the only thing i can see myself buying.
Someone just asked that and it was denied
So why is the Gamestop campaign so restricted while the amazon one was with so much variety? :( (And why is not even the official information about this event right?) And then having so much different prices in all countries..
Since I am living in a small countryside town I already fear the German campaign..at least make deals that people can also do online..having to go to the shops or even the pub in this time is so outdated. :( Especially since not all of your players are living in the big cities..
I really feel like I am disrespected as a paying customer. :(
The "has to be FF" thing is bull, I just got home with Asuras Wrath and Bayonetta from the pre-owned bin.
Gametop promotion: Sweden
I still think the Nordics had the worst deal. Sure, having to buy something for 20£ isn't too bad. However, while well at the local store, it surfaced that they'd been instructed only to give out the codes to those who buy SE products for at least 20£... ended up buying a game I'm not even sure I want to play for 60£ because of this bullshit.
....why the hell did the uk not get gamestop or game or something useful for our codes.... hell why not the SE online store 0_0
So some Gamestops it's any SE product and others it's specifically Final Fantasy? (Add another inconsistency to the promotion's list of problems.)
As to the issue of a Final Fantasy game for people who only game on PC, there are download versions of quite a few FF games for PC, but I'm not sure you'd find an in-store one. In-store you'd probably only find the console versions. Your best bet might end up being to buy a game you could give as a gift or resell on eBay to recoup part of the cost.
Or I guess you could do the same fake pre-order scheme that some people hit Amazon with, ordering and then cancelling FFXV, though I think Gamestop charges a small up-front fee when you pre-order, so that they don't lose out completely on cancellations. (At least they do here, so it's likely they do there as well.)
This is really upsetting. It is so dishonest by SE to not include this detail of the promotion in their information! I think it might count as some sort of false advertisement. I already own all the FF games that are out, and I have no interest in the upcoming one as it only has male characters from what I know.
I made a thread regarding the same promotion for Australians: http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...tire-Promotion
Paying $30 AUD certainly sucks, but I'm even more confused at the fact the store sells nothing related to Square Enix or Final Fantasy? Why can't we just buy FF merchandise and get the promotional codes that way?
The merch for the AU one is HORRIBLE! None of the anime is new, and it's ONLY anime stock. Most of it is SUSPICIOUSLY $29.99 so you would have to spend over $30....
WHY DID YOU PICK A STORE NONE OF US AUSSIES HAVE HEARD OF OR USE?! AND WHY NOT GAMING!?
I am so FURIOUS that it's been MONTHS of waiting for JUNK
The place is JUNK
Felt quite similar when the store they hooked the promo with for the nordics is a console-game store, with only a handful of PC games. With playstation 2 being the newest consol I own, I ended up buying a 60£ PC game (which I'm not even sure if I want to play) because of their limited stock... the fact that the 20£ we were required to spend also had to be SE merchandise only made it worse... Deus Ex was almost the only option in the entire store.
Plenty of anime fans know Hanabee here, what Madman don't pick up they do. I've been meaning to buy a couple of things from them for a while, so now was as good as time as any. My only complaint is their postage cost... $8+ for standard... most places do standard postage for free now :|
I only watched the Live Letter and it was in Japanese so I may have missed it but...am I right in assuming that this wasn't brought up at all during the event?
The wording goes:
And yes, I had to grab Deus Ex because they didn't have anything cheap... I don't know, I think Deus Ex is a FPS game... which is the only genre of games I don't play ._.Quote:
Make a qualifying purchase of at least €19.99 (or 199 kr) at local GameStop stores in Ireland, Denmark, Finland, Norway or Sweden to receive a promotional code.
Yeah, was the same for me... (as I've said before in this thread, had to buy Deus Ex for 60£... and I don't play FPS games \o/ The last FPS game I played was CS 1.5 almost 16 years ago... I do not enjoy them, it's the only gaming genre I don't play except Facebook games (if that could count as a genre)).
I really want Games Master issue 306 code but it was completely sold out here (in Ireland) and no longer availabel for back issue. They seem to have printed far fewer copies for that issue.
Luckily for me I could get the items form Gamestop with the new offer.
Unlike the information page on the website, the requirement is to buy from a limited list of SE games. And I had all of those games apart from Star Ocean 5. Which I wanted anyway but I'd have gotten steam vouchers.
And this seems again underhanded. Yes yes "Qualifying Purchase of minimal 19.99 Euro". I wanted a voucher for my partner also...
Which is why now I have to persue getting crumby 306 and 308 of that magazine that I no longer want to read anymore.
I would buy it in the past. not exclusively every single month, but every other month. And now I am considering not doing that anymore.
And it leaves me question FFXIV policies too. This is the first time for a promotional code, but it was handled so very badly.
Remember, the original Japanese promotion was buying drinks from 7-11, no SE or FF tie-in there. This isn't about promoting Final Fantasy. It's about using Final Fantasy to promote other businesses. (I find the Gamestop one more confusing than Hanabee's in this regard. Why would they specify that it be only SE or Final Fantasy products?)
Well, they had different negotiations with every company, obviously. Amazon is such a big partner, their position is probably a bit different.
I mean, there is absolutely no reason otherwise, except maybe some weird laws that do not allow GameStop to put a promotion on goods that are NOT from the same company as the promotion is for.
This wouldn't surprise me.
I see 3 problems with the Gamestop campaign.
1: It's specific to SE games.
2: You have to visit the store in countries that have great distances and small towns. A lot of people will have to travel far to get this, which adds to the expense and it's incredibly inconvenient if you have to drive 2 hours to and from the store. It should have been an online store.
3: It says 199 kr, but I think the cheapest game you can get is around 400, so the 199 is a lie.
I only have a 45 minutes to 1 hour travel time to my closest Gamestop. Adding buss tickets + the price of the game, I would have to pay at least 650 kr. So I'd have to pay over 80 dollar if I just wanted the codes.
Luckily for me, I had to go to the city on other business, thus removing the travel costs, and I was planning on getting one of the games anyway, so for me the codes were a bonus. But if I just wanted the codes, it would insanely expensive.
It's clear why it's FFXIv codes for FF games. They'd have to give the other companies money to tack their own stuff onto it. :p
Can't mention or show a brand without giving them their royalties, guess it works the same way with dishing out games. Partnerships and all that.
I'm likely to get strange looks but I have almost no interest in anime.. so, being forced to buy something from Hanabee (a website I dont know) and having to buy something that I have no interest in or if I will even like it, was not a good move by SE imo.
Why couldn't Australia have something similar to Japan or USA? At least those I would have found more useful. Or even better, as an Australian living in Japan, why not just STOP making region locked BS?
I myself had an interest in the series that were listed but.. the merchandise was useless + overpriced(+ shipping fees.. so glad I found a discount code to use). So I was kind of forced to buy something I didn't really want either, the things I do for maid outfit & hot retainers ;-;

A question to those that just got their promotion code, when will the code expire for you?
