Next up, LS management? Kick button gooooooo
Thanks so much, everyone! Haha. :D
What an awesome OP! I honestly don't know how I missed this topic for a whole week. Though, I'm glad I got into it without waiting and got an answer from one of the devs! Great news! Happy parade go :D
Haha, I posted this yesterday and today we received a response. Guess the reps just needed a little prodding for a response. ^_~
after 93 pages and 914 responses WE DID IT! WOOT! finally an answer. Now at least we know they really are fixing the "crapmaps" we have now.
high fives all around http://erstories.net/wp-content/uplo...High-Five.jpeg
hey newly "crowned" thread. good job guys
Kitty celebrates! http://norfairkitty.ytmnd.com/
Just can't stop watching this.... had to post it again somewhere... orz
woooooooooooooots this is good news
This is honestly the best response I think I have read
We just want to know whats going on, and that you guys know these issues are a problem and have said yes, we are going to fix.
Thankyou <3
The next step would be to release a very rough outline of your plans, something like summer-battle plans, fall-jobs/materia, winter-insert whatever here, and just let us know where you guys are at, also that would help us alleviate some of our concerns of whether or not your gonna work on something and let us focus on giving you feedback for the topics at hand.
good job guys and thank you very much to the dev for posting not only in the NA section but the German and JP threads too. I'm going to venture a guess and say that a majority of this re-designing will be done by PS3 release. I am overwhelmed with a sense of satisfaction that at least now we know there are plans in the works.
Congrats, this is how rapport should go!
Holy cow! So true. I never understood why I always have to look at my damn map in FFXIV. I never did it in FFXI and I always just figured it was because I started w/ the map in FFXIV therefore I was being too lazy to memorize the zone. However, looking at the map every 10 seconds is the opposite of lazy. It's actually quite annoying; and a chore. Why would I do it? Well you just answered my question! Thank you, haha.
I am soo happy that they made a response to this post. Good job to all who kept this thread going and going.
YESSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bayhone, that's about as satisfactory as a response gets. Thank you!
Go Team, take your time and {Resurrect} this awesome game!! *-*
I know I'm late to the party, but I liked the OPs post. That's exactly how I felt in XI and it is severely lacking in FFXIV
I've been supporting (Via the like button) a more varied world, (NPC interaction and the works included) as this is probably the most important immersion factor for me in a MMO. That being said, I'm definitely glad after 900 replies give or take, a response has been made.
Kudos to all, and I wish the dev. team easy yet rewarding work for themselves and the players! /huzzah
Addressing the OP
That doesn't mean we DON'T go anywhere, just that it's not essential. Content that takes us different places will serve us better than just redoing monster placement.Quote:
One zone with mobs 1-50 means we don't have to go anywhere.
The one thing that DOES bug me in this department, is you have areas close by to your starting cities that are very dangerous except to higher rank players. The regions are too big to have just a small level range in each one; that said, we could narrow things down to like 1~25-30 in the regions containing the starting cities, 31-40 in coerthas, and some yet-to be released regions, 41-50 in Mor Dhona and future areas.
The OP seems to be forgetting that 50 is not going to be the end rank cap, and that new regions in the future will play host to the higher ranks, and not the current ones.
It's not a bad idea, it just makes something seem like a serious problem when it's not a major issue.
It does have to expand, unless you'd like 50 to remain the rank cap forever. So yes, it will, at a minimum when the level cap rises.Quote:
The game doesn't HAVE to expand beyond the 4 zones we have. So will it?
Regardless of where we *will* be headed in the future, new players and people leveling new jobs have to start at 1 and have to progress through 50 to get to a new level cap. 1-50 in the same zone will still be a problem or I should say WOULD have been a problem - but SE seems to be fixing it so no worries. ;)Quote:

Glad to see that this thread got a response! ^___^
Yatta!!!!
Do you ever wonder if the new Devs sit around the office on their breaks talking trash about the old ones?
I bet they do cuz WTF were they thinking when they designed these maps.
Dear Diary, today...was a good Friday.
We got our prize catch of a crown! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XNdOERrB8ZA
One of the best responses I've heard on this forum.
Still, even though you CAN stay in the same region, it doesn't mean you have to. I think the real problem is that outside of a few quests, you are never encouraged to explore. I think each AREA within each REGION should cater to a certain level range; you need to remember that each region is broken up into several smaller zones.
I agree with the general gist of the suggestion in this thread; but I don't want to see it go from one extreme to the other, where we have to go all over the place every couple levels. shifts every 10 ranks up to 30 and 5-10 ranks thereafter would work. The regions are too big to restrict to a really small level range.
This is what has been said since Page 1.Quote:

No one is asking to be moved around every few levels. Take a look at Siobu's progression sketches w/ level ranges. The exploration and level progression looks really good when laid out that way. In regards to regions being too large, we will see how they look after the re-design. They might be split into N S E W areas with specific themes like the devs said. We'll have to wait and see how that goes first and then how mob/quest distribution is redone before we need to speculate on anything.Quote:

I'm pretty optimistic that the upcoming quest hubs will help improve things a little.
Just dropping in^^
Thought I'd continue to add to the current 'love-in' on the forums.
This is a rare and strangely satisfying thing ;)
ty very much reps.
I can finally rest in peace...almost :)
