1.) Freyt's point was, outside of Drakengard 2 which didn't have Taro on the team, you could play any DrakenNieR game without playing any of the others and still get enjoyment out of it (well, story wise atleast for Drakengard and when the framerate isn't bad for Drakengard 3). But you do get MORE enjoyment for NieR if you know Drakengard's story, and the same for Automata if you know NieR and Drakengard's story.
2.) The only difference between NieR Gestalt and Replicant is in relation to Nier's age and thus relationship with Yonah and certain character development from before and after the timeskip. Otherwise its essentially the same game. While Replicant is PROBABLY the canonish one, Automata does reference both versions.
