BLU for Duty Finder and Raids! Show your support!

Blue for full job status has my full support. I've got a small (read: 3) group of RL friends who play this game with me. Despite the fact we've enough to Party Find dungeons none of them are excited about Blue Mage. Do you know what they all decided to do when they saw the limitations? Ignore it.

On the one hand, I can't blame them. Sitting around hoping that Square makes the right decision is frustrating and it in no way impacts their current mains (2 DPS and 1 Healer). But to have an entire job just dismissed with an indifferent shrug . . . well, I think that's a clear sign that this needs to be changed.

BLU deserves to be more than the assist trophy of FFXIV. And I'll bump this topic to the top every day if I have to until these restrictions are lifted.

That's fine if your willing tor BLU to effectively be turned into a straight forward dps caster with monster themed spells and have most of its utility skills either restricted or heavily nerfed. Traditional BLU has a way too diverse set of utility, healing and support spells and often they can be quite potent. BLU would have to be shoved into a particular shape to work in any balanced sense.

Yeah because every single job actualy in the game are just the same and play exactly the same just because you have tu use skill in a certain order to damage a monster. I don't know where you get that so special feeling in the precedent old school blue mage. Cause basicaly if you take the learning from monster aside they basicaly are red mage but blue who is basicaly a weak blackmage who can use weak heal who is basicaly a warrior but with magic.

I am 100% fine with that, honestly. I, and many others, would prefer to play FFXIV as a Blue Mage when we're playing FFXIV, not play a Blue Mage add-on. Yes there is a lot of utility, but there are way more recurring damage spells for BLU than support or debilitating spells. White Wind, Angel's Whisper, Mighty Guard, and some others, can all be repurposed as working abilities in an MMO. A caster that DPSes in melee range with strong DEFENSIVE support opens up a lot of comp changes for the end-game Meta, as well.

The weird thing is, BLU's traditional utility spells aren't all that useful in normal FFs either outside of niche situations. Magic Hammer could be a PVP only move, the only place where it would be useful, anyway. Same with Night, Frog Song. Aero, Aero 2, Aero 3... should be Blue Magic, but probably never will be, probably just have to give up on those. Bad Breath could honestly stay as is, maybe with a 10 second duration, it'd just be useless on most bosses/"elite enemies", as is FF tradition. The only recurring spells that are ludicrously hard to adapt are novelty spells like Self-Destruct and Level 5 Death. Make Self-Destruct a hilarious Blue Mage emote-style ability. Make Level 5 Death a 10 minute OGCD that works on everything up to dungeon trash. Then pick the game-specific ones that can best fit in from all the different games and make a cool, cohesive, and faithful kit.

It being a "carbon copy" of other casters is a symptom of Square not considering alternate DPS ideologies besides a many-button priority system, not really some intrinsic flaw in the battle system or the jobs themselves.

Blu is a bottom tier job. It really doesn't.

I would rather play a job that nobody else likes but can still participate in all parts of the game (such as current tier end game raiding, or the ability to use a random dungeon finder because I don't feel like having to make my own party or look for one every time i sit down to play. Hell, wasn't that the point of random dungeon finders because making your own parties were so cumbersome. It doesn't fly in this day and age of MMOs when its standard everywhere else.

P.S. I hope they release dancer as a rhythm mini-game. /sarcasm

I hope they don't make dancer a mini game. It's my most favorite job in the whole ff series. This dumb limited job thing must be killed like the plague it is.
