Only the northwest of SA will see a slight increase, everybody else got fucked. My ping went from 100 to 220 =.= now if i want to play this game i'll probably have to change to tank for the long gcds. We live in a ghost continent guys.
When yoship said this game is playable with 200ms, i had a good laugh, he never ever ever tested ninja at 200ms, or stance dance with CS during savage progression.
This is really sad because i've been playing this game since early acess of 2.0 and now they basically gave me the middle finger and said my money isnt worth for them.
Okay yeah sure lemme just cancel my preorder and end my sub all the while knowing location has less impact on ping times and everything to do with ISP/routing.
I mean, is there a better example of this than the cloud mount and attire acquired through buying stuff from amazon? I got my DLCs but I had to buy things for other people because there was nothing I could buy for myself there lol i don't think they ever take us into consideration.
My ping went from 130 to 300. I'm willing to wait a few days to see what happens, but things are not looking promising.
These forums are just awesome. :D

I'm sorry, but while my ping has increased, my lag in game has gone down considerably. Makes me wonder if anyone has actually tried to even play yet
Playing from NYC and I've got a ping of 30 ms..lol that is more then fine. I'll be moving to Southern California soon anyway....but either way, boycotting isn't going to work :P However if people keep having issues and it goes on for a while...SE will most likely look into it. ^^
Yeap this forum is a real trip. It's special.

My ISP's route to central NA and eastern CA always routes to Virginia backbone before hitting outside routers... I kind of like it being one state over. I had 250+ ms ping when it was in montreal, now it's sub 50. if it goes to, let's say, Dallas, my ISP would route from Arizona to VA then down to TX. always has and always will. same for Chicago, first to VA then to IL.
Nope, I'm quite happy with the move. My ping and packet loss are both down.
Everybody please calm your Matron's tits.
Why weren't we boycotting from the start when they were in Montreal? Or was it fine when it was just the west with the (STILL PERFECTLY PLAYABLE) 90-100 ping?
You people can't take a joke.
Also fuma is clipping now, god it's so bad.
been playing with my VPN, looks like approx 90ms is the best I can do :( and that's routing directly thru chicago to the west coast.
You do that. Let me know how it goes.
Haven't had a chance to log in today yet but I spent nearly two years playing with a 750 ms ping sooooo...you'll forgive any lack of sympathy over someone having 100 ms suddenly.
Must be nice to play a class that doesn't have to double weave out the *** :^)
EDIT: not saying you can't play well with high ping, but given a player of equal skill on a good connection vs a bad one the good one will outperform every time and saying otherwise is really dumb.
I really hope this increase in ping is temporary due to recent DC change, and in a few days it gets better
Switch ISPs or move. Internet infrastructure out in the boonies is going to suck, period. Wouldn't have mattered much if they'd put the DC in Chicago if your ISP has garbage infrastructure.
And on that note, why are you complaining about sub-100ms ping when there are people with legitimate grievances complaining about 200+?
let me pet my 0% packet loss like its that cat from inspector gadget while I laugh maniacally :)
1. Brazil, which I'm assuming is where the majority of SA players are, is east SA not west.
2. Routing - it would have been a fairly straight shot all the way north to Montreal, I'm guessing SA is now being routed to NY and then west across the country to CA, or something to that effect. The only way to alter it would be to pay extra for a VPN which I imagine might be a problem with how currencies convert
Not even Jesus Christ himself could twist mudras at 200ms :(
I as NA, more or less went from best case(right beside MTL) to worst case(2500 miles). 100ms is fine. Lot's of my euro friends got spunked on tho

you mean like the "equal skill" of thinking bards don't double weave out the ***? :P ... or drgs.....or mch..... ok im curious now, what classes do you consider to double weave out the ***? O.o NIN I guess? O.o
This is the real benefit of the move people are overlooking: I had a shitload of packet loss with Montreal and I live in western MI. I can still tracert a Montreal server from here and get a lot of packet loss (thanks Level 3, you guys suck).
Meanwhile my tracert to Cali gives me stable 75ms, no dropped packets, and I route from Chicago directly to San Jose and ultimately wind up in Sacramento every time.
How's in charge of the nuclear football here...this forum needs a strike.
If only ping and packet loss were the same... Wait, they're not. The new location is HUGE for this. Everyone is seeing an improvement in packet loss, regardless of where they are. Higher ping sucks, but try playing. Packet loss is a huge cause of many people's issues.
Downgrade for Canadians.
Downgrade for east coast.
Downgrade for EU.
Downgrade for South America.
Upgrade for west coast.
No wonder they didn't want to tell us beforehand.
I should thank Yoshi for removing a job from my list of choices to play, in order to simplify my experience.
I was having little to no packet loss through vpn previously, so this is nothing but a net loss for me. Tripled my ping without VPN, doubled with :(
Just because my issue is smaller than others doesn't make it any less of a downgrade for me. I can still -barely- double weave if I'm slamming my buttons as fast as possible, but I absolutely cannot raiton anymore as it clips horribly into my GCD. Packet loss reduction means little to me if I still need to use a VPN to get a decent connection. I was hoping to drop it because I wouldn't be routed through level3 anymore, no such luck.
I have friends that it's even worse for (SMN buddy's ping quadrupled and he struggles to properly do his opener now. He does not have the expendable income to afford a VPN for one game) so I speak for them too.
My question is to people here after reading a majority of these posts....it sounds like you haven't even tried playing yet. Why don't you actually test it out in a trial or a raid and see what happens? My ping went up but my lag improved considerably. I see all of these complaints but no proof of there being any difficulty in game. If it's that bad, record a video of a raid or anything that is net heavy and make a feedback thread for the devs to see. If you want them to take action, don't just sit on here and whine, actually show your difficulty in game, or be quiet. Simple as that.
How is that even possible? You were probably getting 30 when they were still in Montreal, but you should be around 85-90 now. The lowest I've seen anyone from NYC have so far is 85, and that's on fios. I'm in Buffalo and I'm getting 130 because it routes me to NYC then to Seattle then goes to Sacramento rather than taking a straight path. Hopefully that'll be fixed sooner rather than later.
Your ping to the speedtest servers is not the same as the ping to FFXIV.
