Have this feeling that Aeolian Edge will get a positional and maybe the new combo finisher
Printable View
wait so only one move will get a positional it seems...i hope so.
So that'd be 3 positionals in total, one of which is once a minute. I don't think the initial positional haters have any right to complain about that.
i think they did tune down the number of positional mostly because of the complain. the initial announcement was clear about pay attention to several skill and now only this.
but i'm still confused about shade shift.
The notes are preliminary, so we might see something added to another skill, but three total positionals seems more than manageable. Aeolian Edge will probably require Flank for maximum potency (since TA is Rear). That's almost completely negligible, negligible enough that I suspect we might have one or two other positionals and the patch notes just aren't complete. But other than that, I'm excited!
I'm more interested to see the BLM changes TBH.
No, I meant I'm more interested to see the changes about the BLM skills.
We already knew about a positional update, most likely to be on Aeolian Edge and a new ability.
I'm more interested in seeing what is going to happen to Fire/Fire 2 for BLM, in terms of "new changes to old abilities".
I could see Aeolian being a flank, would make the opener a bit awkward but it'll be cool to play around with when i get to it.
If I had to guess ide say Dream within a dream is going to be our 3hit ability
So Shade Walker = Perfect Dodge? Hmm... if thats so, what sort of change might they bring to it?? All I can think of is either reducing the cooldown in a 50% or adding the Aggro reduction effect to it...
Smoke Screen is going to be the Aggro management of some sort, I believe? Then maybe Shadewalker is another Aggro management? Sounds weird...
About Aeolian being the only tentative positional addition, does kind of remind me to the venom things they were saying on NIN release, that there would be many with different effects and would not be DoT based class. Just to turn out to be no more than 2 and you could (if you ever wanted to) stay with one for a whole month without even switching or dropping it. Oh well :v
Well, nothing stops them to give the new offensive skills a positional too tho :/
So chances are still there...
Duality might be Issou, right? Then Dream Within a Dream might be Mugen Sandan? =___=* patience... patience... only 2 more days!!
About the Limitbreak, its pretty cool looking, specially against Rabana.
PLD: I Have one Big Sword!
NIN: I have 2 daggers as Big as a PLD Sword!
DRK: I have 1 Big 2-Handed Sword!!
Rabana: I have 4 Big 2-Handed Swords that I use with one hand each!
NIN: Well, I have 13 (visible so far, possibly 14) Big Flaming Soul Swords that float in the air while I do a Power Ranger pose!!
Compared to the Japanese names
Smoke bomb = Kemuri DamaQuote:
Ninja
Kemuri Dama (lit. Smoke Ball): Suppresses enmity generation for target party member.
Kage Watari (lit. Crossed Shadow): Transfers enmity from the ninja to a target party member.
Issou (lit. Two for One): Buff which powers up the next weaponskill.
Mugen Sandan (lit. Three Part Illusion): Three-stage physical attack skill.
???: New weaponskill finisher for Gust Slash combo which prolongs an active Huton effect.
Shadewalker = Kage Watari
Dream Within a Dream = Mugen Sandan
Those are pretty much for sure.
Duality might, indeed, be Issou. But I also feel like Armor Crush sounds better for something that increases your weaponskill damage to the enemy.
So one or the other is the Huton refresh skill.
The floating swords look like they're from FFXV.
We should totally grab one at a time and slice the boss for the actual execution of the LB, like the original FFXV trailer. Though I expect they'll just be projectiles.
Enmity management for NIN? *gasp* what is this?
I bet duality is the huton refresh weapon skill. The duality is that it is a weapon skill and a mudra.
Dream within a dream.... lol
Inception!
Or whatever that movie was called.
I just hope nin doesn't end up on the short end of the stick for melee dps. I'm still going to main it since I find mnk and drg rather boring in comparison (though I use both). Something about ninjas pace I just seem to like way more than the other two.
Here we go guys from reddit
Aeolian Edge: Now only applies full potency from rear. (320 rear, 280 flank)
Smoke Screen: Reduces target's current enmity. Didn't actually use it, but seems straightforward.
Armor Crush: Combos after Gust Slash. Deals full potency from flank, less from rear. Extends Huton duration by 30 sec (max 70).
Shadewalker: Reduces target's enmity gain by 80% for about ten seconds. Does not work on tanks (I tried).
Duality: Your next attack hits twice. Couldn't really tell if it was working or not.
Dream Within a Dream: OGCD attack with a 90s CD.
^Sounds awesome. The positionals aren't that bad. I'm already doing aeolian from the back and the huton refresh will be easy to nail. I am curious about the potency of the dream attack.
duality+trick/sneak attack would be fun if that worked. huton refresh looks good, but i wonder how much tp it'll cost and its potency
omg thank you SE- positionals not bad at all... I think our feedback made a difference b/c yoshi said "several moves"
Meh lets just hope they don't screw it up and make the refresh on Armor Crush reliant on getting the positional.
duality + AE = golden
That would be god awful. (The refresh dependent on the position)
Now queue the tool drg players(I don't mean any of the smart ones on this forum) that come in the thread and Say good I hope it doesn't apply the refresh if you miss the positional you'll know how we felt with HT blah blah blah people on the forums who have nothing better to do.
I played Drg during that time so I know the feels.
The first one you would use if you (or a party member) grabs aggro.
The second would be like a form of quelling strikes. So pop it before your burst damage so that you don't pull aggro (or same for party member)
Although to be quite honest I don't really see myself concentrating on other peoples aggro and typically when aggro is stolen it's me.
So dream with in a dream is a ninja version of jump from the sounds of it
Thats Assassinate, really.
Unless it also locks us in place (which I hope it doesnt).
Duality sounds amazingly good... now I have to think a way to make an opener with that in mind so I can actually abuse the aggro skills :/
Doubt it will affect DoTs, right?
Reading again the Digest it was hinted that the positionals would be a nerf (a very mild one tho) to counter the huton extending buff... which now that I see a very reasonable number can tell why... 30 seconds of extension does make it so AE and this new skill can alternate pretty smoothly. Also, no reason to lose Huton at all... and that means a lot of ninjutsus... damn D:
So 80% enmity proc reduction huh? Too bad it doesnt work on Tanks if I wanna get a healer dead :v!!! But I can see the teamwork utility this has XP
"Oh shit! MT died and OT was so focused on DPS rotation that their aggro fell under the healer!!" *throws the skill the healer's way* *saves the day* *no one notices* PERFECT NINJA :U!
Too bad is no enmity transfer so we can feed our DRK pets some onmnomnom-jerks :v
"here, have a cookie".
Yeah I get the actual use. I meant more as far as how "useful" they will be in regards to new content. On face value, they seem pretty limited to take up two skills. As for the 2nd one, there seems to be conflicting info.
That last one said reduce by 80%, but I've also seen that its "transfer enmity from NIN to target", meaning its not usable by the caster.
Two more days tho.... lol
The wait is real.
ok, i will ask one more time the same thing than before, when can we use Aeolian edge with this? it means to be used one time every 30 second. and like i have show before, exept if someone is placing Dancing edge or storm's eye for us. we will not be able to maintain the debuff/dot and use Aeolian with this.
if you don't believe me, try yourself to do a cycle of 70 second and see if you can put an Aeolian edge combo in the cycle. (even without count the mudra lag)
Duality recast time is 90s
"combo bonuses and additional effects will only be applied once"
so you'd get 100 potency extra because AE without combo bonus is 100 potency
the wording on the skill is very suspect honestly. it won't work on trick or sneak attack since they are abilities, not weapon skills, so the best use of it with this tooltip would be for spinning edge.
That's weird. The tooltip sounds more like the enmity transfer we've been told we'd get.
It says:
ScreenshotQuote:
Grants target party member the effect of Silhouette, diverting 80% of all enmity generated to your doppleganger. No effect when the target is under the effect of Shadewalker.
Perhaps you make a shadow figure of yourself that's just there to soak the target's enmity, hence reducing their hate? And that's the doppleganger?
Really sounds more like you link to another person and they gain your silhouette and you transfer your enmity to them, which fits with what we've heard.
But that reddit guy says it doesn't work on tanks? That wouldn't make sense then.
I think I actually get Duality, it's a bit different.
I linked the screenshot of the tooltip above.
It has a duration of 10s. It's doesn't say a single weaponskill. It says single-target weaponskill.
I believe this means for 10s, all your single-target weaponskills hit for their non-bonused damage.
It says "double the number of non-critical strikes for a single-target weaponskill". The "a" might imply one ability, but then the "strikes" implies a few.
What I'm wondering is....if you crit do you not get the effect (the wording sounds like that)? Or do you get the effect as if you didn't crit?
The former would be dumb.
Anyway, I'm more inclined to believe my reading of this because they always say "the next (weaponskill)" if it was just one.
