Again, another comment with no logical basis.
Just you saying "It can't be in the game, because I said so."
I've only seen ONE person give a logical reason why not, and IDK if they said it, because they thought it, or because I said it first.

It really depends how people change the way they XP in 2.0, if people start to use dunegon finder to gain XP there is less of a need for level sync.
I still think it will be a massive help when the PS3 version comes out if its added.
ya like the main reason i want it is to play with family and friends. When i first play xi i couldnt play with anyone of my friends or family cause of level differences, then adding level was the best thing that happened. I was able to sync to low levels to help them level up as well as getting merits and such at the same time.. it was awesome.
All i know is level sync needs to be introduced for the ps3 version. Im sure other people do to, but i have alot of family members that baught a PS3 for FFXIV to play together. This is their first MMO, and it would be such a disappointment if we cant play together.
Interesting thread. It seems a lot of the people talking either want to power level, or are afraid of it.
To me level sync has nothing to do with that.
A friend and I don't have equal time, and its a fact that being a different level makes some things difficult. It also ruins the fun for us when one of us is gimp compared to the other. it really sucks to be a tank when your friend is a few levels higher and you are pretty much useless.
Level sync fixes that.
My friend and I duo a lot, and in any MMO we tend to quest and level much slower than everyone else, so our desire for level sync is actually to let us slow leveling, not speed it up.
Any game without features like this in 2011 is just inherently broken.
*ALL* game features can be and are abused, crippling a game to avoid that doesn't make sense. For us, not having level sync is a huge negative in our play style and fun.
When fixing problems in a game, designers need to make sure the solution is not worse than the problem.
It doesn't make sense because you are one of those people who want to level up fast, and you don't mind the level differences between players.
A lot of us *DO* care about some toons being godlike or others being gimp. We like playing with similarly skilled and equipped toons. For us the game is a lot more fun like that.
Your statement above, that method of playing, is horribly boring for me and most people I play with.
A lot of us are not in a hurry to level and we dont' give a rats ass about leveling. We like adventuring and playing together.
My friend and I duo and leveling both of our toons to level 50 would ruin the game for us, so that's hardly a solution.
Its sad that in most MMOs now so many people only care about reaching max level and game designers push it so much. Its a really poor way to design and run a game.
I don't see any reason why we can't accomodate more than one game style.
I'm actually glad this thread got necro'ed, as it's interesting to see how long people have been requesting Level Sync in this game.
Also, now that the devs went the lazy route and powerleveling is out of control, those who were apprehensive about Level Sync... I think some might agree it would have been a preferable option.
One does not rule out the other.
Yoshi-P's official reason for allowing power-leveling is to let high-level players play with their low level friends. Not to quickly skyrocket through the levels and blow through content (though some believe that may be the real reason he's okay with it, since this game is so lacking on content).
If, indeed, it's just to let friends play together, level-sync would be a preferred option because it has fewer negative consequences than the /afk powerleveling we have going on right now. Then powerleveling could finally be controlled.
